It sounds amazing in theory: Turn M$ into Steam AKA have retarded sales, but the reality is M$ and most publishers/developers are way too greedy to adopt such a consumer friendly system and are much more likely to use Xbone (love that nickname) to price gouge us. Ben Kuchera is one of the few great writers in gaming, remember this? And I like his forward thinking on Xbone, but he is being way too optimistic and this is coming from me a man who’s usually more optimistic than most people. Kuchera acknowledges that the eco system M$ is trying to establish may not pan out as he and we hope however, he is still willing to take such a big risk…and for what exactly? What secret information does he have that makes him willing to look at Xbone with cautious optimism? What if he’s wrong? Does he just say “Welp…I was wrong sorry guys go buy PS4!” :bluu:

There’s no way Xbox Live will have the same level of sales that Steam has right now. They haven’t shown any indication of that in their business model. They have some sales, but nothing crazy like Steam does.

PSNs answer to Xbox Live is that PSN is free. You get to game online for free. They’re both P2P, just one charges you to play and the other doesn’t. Sony’s actual answer to Lives subscription system is PS+ which lets you download entire games for free. Sleeping Dogs has been free to play for + members all month. + also offers great sales every month, and you don’t have to pay to use services like Netflix and Hulu, services you already pay a subscription fee to use. They are free to use on PSN.
Air original programming, maybe something like adapted 1st party content and exclusive behind the scenes documentaries…we could get EA sponsored sporting events!!!
I was talking to someone about the X1 earlier today and they said something that I agree with. If this wasn’t a gaming console, it would probably be seen in a much better light. Like if they decided to instead make it a system with all the stuff that it has, minus the gaming part, and introduced it at CES, it would probably have a better reception (They also wouldn’t have all the game related issues to worry about either).
Like if the X1 was just Microsofts attempt at an entertainment system it would work better.
Now TV viewers can suffer from immersion breaking achievements at last. Can’t wait for the chime and pop-up message to show up when I get to a suspenseful moment while watching Prison Break
