I’m not sold on PS4 or Xbox One. Both Sony and MS console reveals were terrible. Both were Social Media heavy. Both showed content recording. Both were light on games, mostly Racing and FPS again. Sony and MS better go hard this E3, because I’m not excited for this next gen at all.
Im not saying PS4 is blowing the doors off of the other companies. While they didnt really showcase anything that impressive, Sony didnt fuck up as hard as Microsoft…yet
Backwards compatibility isn’t as make or break as people are making it out to be. I can live without BC. I’m on the fence with the PS4 but they didn’t fuck over the consumer like Microsoft did today.
It isn’t make or break, you’re right, but so far with the little amount of games they’ve actually sold us on, and the fact that this next gen isn’t as much of a vast improvement over the current one, having backwards compatibility would’ve been a decent point to fall back on. So far, neither company has come out and given people a reason to go out and buy their system day 1. Now, that can change at E3, at least for Sony as with that Used Game shit, Xbox One is pretty much DOA but as of now, PS4 isn’t worth it either.
The only way the PS4 (which is the only console that matters now because of the Used Game shit with XO) will get people to go out and get their system right away is if their release title launch is absolutely impeccable. Which I don’t expect because they rarely are for any generation for any company.
I remember reading multiple articles about how the size of 360 ultimately lead to the death of it sales wise in Japan. I’m starting to think at this point they really don’t care about Japan and are more focused on living room entertainment in general. It’s going to sell well but probably is considered dead amongst gamers. The Wii sold like hot cakes in retirement homes and hospitals which is why Mario Galaxy sales were shockingly poor the 1st two years. I’m sure the “shortages” were a factor but it’s become blatantly clear that gaming is not the core focus which they admitted today with pride.
I honestly have nothing against that but I do hope MS stays as a competitor so Sony doesn’t screw us as well in some other way. If Sony was the only company around PS+ wouldn’t exist lets just be real about that. Competition is good but it sucks when we can’t play certain games due to exclusivity.
I know it doesn’t have it either. I said in a previous point that it having BC or not was irrelevant since it pretty much pissed people off in other ways.
I’m saying that, in a generation that’s going to favor social interaction and other media over gaming itself, a LOT of pressure could’ve been taken off of them if they had found a way to implement Backwards Compatibility. But now they have to deliver for launch titles or they’re going to undersell at launch date. And right now, I don’t think that there’s much they can do to really amaze people enough to buying their system at launch. The improvement over current gen just isn’t enough to warrant it.
When you think about it like that, i guess it doesnt seem so large. I think it would be hilarious if they brought back the Duke though. The original xbox controller optimized for use by the hulk
That defeats the purpose of me going out and buying a hard copy of the game if I’m just buying a disc to download onto my system. I don’t know about anyone else but I don’t want to buy a hard digital download. I understand they aren’t getting the money they should be getting from used games but there were other ways around it.
Now it comes down to if my system busts then I’m taxed 10 bucks for each game I want to play on a new system. Being a new system kinks are likely to appear and then the smaller system is bound to come, boom two excuses to tax me for all my games.
It shouldn’t matter what console its on but it should matter what the XBL Account it’s linked to.
This way if I want to play it at another persons place I just log onto my xbl account, it checks to see if the disc was registered to the account and I start playing.
I buy almost all my games new anyways so it shouldn’t affect me that much.
If you’re buying every game used and you like the game you should be taxed because the company isn’t seeing any of that money.
I wonder if the used game fee is why EA dropped online passes. Hope Sony doesn’t follow suit. I know they said they’re leaving it up to publishers, but maybe this is something they should take a stance on in regards to the system. Sure they will probably piss off publishers, but if Sony gains a large userbase they won’t be able to ignore them anyway. It’s a huge gamble tho.
I believe it was the size of the original Xbox that was a turn off to the Japanese, and the smaller design and external PSU of the 360 was to appease Japan. The 360 even launched in Japan with only one SKU(360 Pro) at a smaller price than the US. The US got the two SKU(core/pro) bullshit. Japan still didn’t bite.
