I don’t know what your hate for Spielberg is but he’s a big name in the film industry. Which means that someone with clout is actually going to take the franchise seriously. It has a good chance of being good. Not that it matters anymore now since I’ve lost all interest in the system.

Crazy market research going after this market. Except they too named this one wrong to tell people its new.
“We’ve learned from the revolutionary Xbox 1”
It’s like there was no Xbox, 1st one. Revisionist history. I hope they call it -in house- the “XBOX HUGE” too. Storage Wars dude still thinks its: “Hell yeah that’s worth $100”
:: Just like Yahoo Gametracker does this way better in real time than one bar of players on the side of the TV. But “Xbox Coco Crisp,” or Dikembe Mutumbo if he was still around would be pretty cool commands. Probably search the wrong shit though, through Bing and IE on your console.
Matchmaking without looking and watching TV/internet browsing instead is some bullshit. Future AFK teammates for days. Unless you what, yell loud enough through their headset to switch their point of view back to the game. Or they add Picture in Picture instead of everything fullscreen.
So I buy a used game to save money, then I have to pay extra money just to play the game as punishment for not buying the game new? Then it costs me more money than buying it new right? What about when a game gets taken out of production and all you can find is used copies? They get to make extra money off of you because you didnt commission a brand new disc from the publisher using your metric fuck ton of spending money? Then what if you get home and your ISP is acting up? Not only did you just blow some cash, but now your xbox is a paperweight and your “New?” game might as well be a $60 frisbee.
I’m not hating on Spielberg in fact I said I was looking forward to a live action halo show, I’m hating on the fact that name dropping a director is a highlight of a CONSOLE reveal lol. The entertainment hub angle MS has been going for is smart but not if it shortchanges the “core gamer” which is has done unquestionably done. Also Spielberg’s name doesn’t mean shit unless he’s directing the show himself, if he’s just producing than it’s a given it will be shit considering the failure of his other 2 sci fi shows Falling Skies and especially Terra Nova.
Quantum Leap looks cool, Halo show could be good…rest of conference was embarrassing.
Well have to wait for how much this fee is going to be and see if places like gamestop/ebgames alters their pricing to accommodate this fee. Otherwise, gamers are going to vote with their wallets or take it up the ass.
Several parts of the conference for example “no more app install wait times” and “daily content updates” as well as IGN guys pretty much confirming always online.
Molyneaux said: “always online won’t be bad as long as the benefits are there”…WHAT BENEFITS NIGGA?
Also he said: “I don’t understand the call of duty dogs, can we blow off our dogs now?”
The fee is completely logical because the game industry doesn’t make games with lasting appeal anymore. Or, well, games for that matter. Unless you call QTE-interrupted cutscene-fests games. The sales are highly driven by initial hype, and little else. Positive word of mouth, certainly not. So the “games” end up bargain binned and sold back to Gamestop posthaste.
How to make Xbox One:
Hold an intra-Microsoft competition.
Task: Waste as much money as possible on as useless a feature as possible.
Well its large because the power supply is built in to the One and it is NOT always online. (http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/05/21/xbox-one-doesnt-require-internet-connection) The fee for pre-owned games thing… I’ll be curious to know if Microsoft is actually flying solo on this or if Sony has just kept their mouth shut about their plans on that as well. Actually reading that article, that just messes up game rental in general… I’ll wait for more clarification on this, such as pricing etc. If its a 2 dollar fee, I’ll probably shrug, if you’re looking at 10 dollars or more that could be a very large mistake.
The truth it Microsoft and Sony took radically different approaches to their reveals and I think they have different visions for what their platform will be. Microsoft today offered a high level overview designed to appeal to the masses, not to gamers. They have this other conference in 20 days, that little E3 thing. Was I underwhelmed by the conference today? Sure. But does that mean its a flop? IDK. I think Microsoft was just choosing to speak to a different crowd today than the majority of gamers…
That being said if Microsoft goes through E3 and pulls another stunt where they put less than 3 minutes of actual gameplay into an hour long conference, even I would have to reconsider my next gen purchasing decision.
