A fellow SH fan!! I was checking out the OSTās because someone at Squid Board purchase the OSTās and did some new, 2020, HQ rips (MP3ās & Flac) of Shadow Hearts. And a better quality rip of Koudelka OST. Man, the stuff you can find there. Some guy remastered the GBA Castlevania OSTās and the reviews have been pretty positive. Also official remastered Streets of Rage OSTās. Let me know if you are interested in checking out the Shadow Hearts music, Iāll PM you.
And I donāt know if you knew, there was a special edition of Shadow Hearts 2 in Japan with an extra CD where you played as the bad guys. Some guys translated the text and put it in the game so non-Japanese fans can check out this piece we missed on the West
The battle theme? Oh, itās been a while, was it Brain Hopper?
Well, I am checking out ebay and damn, from $50 and above. I was lucky to get a mint copy for less than $25, I think.
If you can get the first one, go for it. Keep in mind it the game was supposed to be released on the last years of PS1, but they decided to release it on PS2. Regardless, even if it might look a little rough around the edges the game has a lot of atmosphere and style.
If you canāt get the game, I guess the next best thing would be to watch a āno battle runā on youtube
And you may want to watch a short Koudelka run on youtube. Story takes place before SH, and many themes and some characters from Koudelka are touched later on in SH. So you know where this all comes from. Itās pretty cool and the voice acting was great for the time.
Shadow Hearts was doomed to obscurity since despite how awesome and unique it wasā¦it just got no promotion and the 1st game dropped around the same time as FF10ā¦and with last gen looking graphics by comparison. I still have Covenant on my shelf.
yea brain hopper was a wtf for me first time i heard it. also you donāt have have to go this route but if anyoneās interested you could always play shadow hearts 1 on pcx2 it works fine just setup the game to switch to software mode during cutscenes or enjoy your seizure.
I never played the first game and I didnāt have an issue following the story of the second game. It does a good job with accessibility. The game will tell you what happened in the first game when those events become relevant.
The 1st definitely had great creepy locations, and eerie enemy designs. Also was unique for the time setting it took place in. Highly underrated series overall.
Naw Iāll find the first one. Koudelka is a pretty different game so I donāt mind watching that one, by Iād like to play the first one before the second. Patience wins the day. I have plenty of other stuff to play in the mean time.
What little I played of the second I really liked so I wanna see where it begins. Going backwards can make the older game harder to play to since itās generally missing stuff from the sequels.
yea but it would lose some of its identity its like if square remade xenogears and changed the battle system to something like streets of rage it could work but the battle system is one of its unique parts and its fun.
