Grain of salt and likely a shot in the dark but

I could see it happening. Explains the xbone price drop

That’s a hell of a loss that they’d be willing to take. If true then that really makes them a threat out the gate. PS5 would need to have bangers in the first few months to turn heads cause they’ll be on the backfoot price wise with an inferior system power wise. Very interesting…

I’m extremely skeptical. If that was the plan for them, then the “lockhart” model was a waste of R&D funds. I don’t see current MS taking the leader approach. Both MS and Sony took huge losses on hardware during the 360/PS3 generation. Part of the reason for that generations length was that half way through the generation they both were still in the red. It’s why both the PS4 and XB1 launched at break even/slight profit prices.

It would deffinitly be a bold move but they still have the problem of 0 exclusives of any kind and most of their launch material is cross gen.

Sony just has to drop a couple neat looking exclusives and I feel they will make up that ground.

Sony honestly just needs to do something.
There’s rumblings of them doing a state of play covering all the functionality and features of the ps5 around “e3 weekend” but that’s been a rumor before.

The only reason I feel it has any levity is the fact the dates in question of this happening are June 12th and June 16th.

Better hope the ps5 price rumors aren’t 100% correct and the system will go for ~450$. No way Sony can bring it down to 400$, assuming the “insider” info about XBSX is real

This is on the assumption that its true and we also have to consider that we haven’t seen everything that M$ has to offer. Halo Infinite isn’t exclusive to xbox sex but neither was BotW when it was released for Switch, and I say this as someone that’s pretty ‘…EH’ about Halo. PS4 barely had anything really when it got released but the combination of it being cheaper and more powerful than the Xbone made it a no brainer for most people (who weren’t alrady aware of the always online bs). I’m saying that if Sony doesn’t watch it, they’re may end up in the reverse position.

I don’t think either company is going to fuck up this gen, and that still puts Sony ahead, imo. The brand awareness is too strong, they have a lot of goodwill if you look at how long Playstations are supported after the new ones come out.

Sony one draw back isl shutting down servers one year after something is not popular, especially after charging for online. Never got on Gravity Rush 2’s online leaderboards, but cancelling it a year after release is pretty dumb. Same with Driveclub, which I don’t personally care for.

A megaton announcement at this point would be cancelling online subscriptions for online play. Keep’em for the free games* and deeper discounts though if they have to have them. With digital still trending upwards, I think more consumers than not, would keep with the subscription than not.

The thing about BOTW is it released on a old system on its way out that almost no one owned while also being a killer app for their new console that everyone already wanted. We also know Nintendo has a huge stable of exclusives regardless so it has that momentum behind it to.

Only thing is how many people remember this ?
Only thing I can see people being sore with Sony is when PSN with all the account info got hacked, and most people have forgotten that.

MS needs at least 1 Killer Must Have Game, and it can’t be Halo, Gears or Forza.

Radiant is right, almost everyone saw BOTW as a Switch game and most forgot it was on the Wii U as well or didn’t care enough to notice. Except Wii U owners who wanted the new Zelda game but wasn’t ready to buy a new system.

Get ready…

My nephew and sister came to visit to help with my dads treatments this week (he’s doing great btw, just always very physically drained) and my nephew got to come into my room and explore.

He immediately went to amiibo displays

As adorable as it was, and it really was, I was also equally terrified and screaming internally.

The cuteness outweighed my anxiety though. He kept looking around the displays going “ WOW” and he’d grab a figure, look at it and either look at me and say “TOY” or “WOW” then gently put It back either where it was or on my bed.

He did this for about 30 minutes. He also found my splatoon plush as well as my model of the Trueno 86 from Initial D and kept saying “COOL CAR!” And “VROOM!” (My BIL is a car nut, actually worked as a research assistant and tour guide for car museum at one point. So this wasn’t surprising) while playing with it.

It’s been a good night

No one wanted to buy a Wii U to play BotW if they didn’t already own the console when they could buy it on the more promising and powerful hardware. I’m just looking at launch situations and comparing what what’s happening right now and compounding it with the 2 unknowns which are what both MS and Sony haven’t announced exclusive wise. Like I said, I’m not even a halo guy but I understand the power of a franchise that has garnered a legacy of to this point. IF…we’re just talking in ifs here…IF M$ manages to pull off Halo Infinite perfectly, the price point of the system is really close to PS5’s, and Sony doesn’t bring enough to the table at launch on top of the previous 2 then I can see this swinging into M$'s favor in the beginning.

There’s a lot of speculation right now…I’m far more interested in most of Sony’s IP’s over M$'s so Sony would have to drop the ball pretty hard for me to not end up going with a PS5 next generation. I’d much rather play God of War, Horizon 2 and a guaranteed chance to play FF7R part 2 over Gears and…???. Yeah…Gears is the only exclusive for M$ that I really care about but who knows…maybe they’ll surprise me. We’ll reasses once we know what both consoles are actually coming to the table.

The problem is that next-gen consoles aren’t exactly trouncing PCs in terms of power. All they have at the moment are faster SSD’s as standard, which’ll be going away soon.

I’m not even including the PC master race in this because they’re going to do whatever. They’re eventually always going to have the highest graphics at this huge price point and have all the 3rd party ports at 20K at 360 frames a second…and when any of the consoles come out with their exclusives they’ll still be talking about how powerful their platform is at playing the 3rd party games. If that’s what they’re satisfied with then great. I just bought a $2000 PC and there’s probably not a high chance that I’ll even game on the thing.
