I didn’t play Last of Us so I’m not really interested in Last of Us 2. I don’t know why, I liked or loved pretty much all of NDs previous stuff but for some reason just no interest in Last of Us.

I loved TLoU but I gotta be honest this recent news has pretty much killed a lot of my excitement. At the very least I’m definitely going to wait for some reviews from certain people.

Part of it I think is that there has just been a consistant stream of stuff I am more interested in playing. There are a couple games I want to play that I haven’t even played yet. I bought Gravity Rush 2 months ago and haven’t really played it (want to get the first one as well so gotta play that first…) and I want to play Neir Automata but I still haven’t even bought it yet. So TLOU is just way too far down the list to even hit my radar I guess.

Edit: Also meant to say that FF7Rs hard mode has been fun but man you really do die fast. I’ve made it to chapter 3. Think I’m gonna hit a couple more chapters on normal for a few more accessories and materia grown to really get some of these builds working effectivly. Watching some videos of people playing and their atb generation is like God damn.

I already nabbed it for Steam, might get the PS4 or Switch version as well.

Yeah I definitely recommend getting all the weapons and at least doing all the side quests on normal first or you go into hard mode in a much worse situation. You still can die quick but you’ll be better situated to kill them faster.

Also, if you really want an easier time, Barret’s Lifesaver really is extremely good. Give him Chakra and the Healing Carcanet accessory(increases effects of all healing by the equipped person) and he can be an MP-free healer. And he gains ATB quick with his basic attacks and doesn’t need to be near anything to do so so he’s really good at it

Yea you just…like…dont always have Barret lol. I wanna get Gotterdamrung and the other limit charging accessory.

But I also need more HP and MP, so I need to farm a couple more of those out.

Yeah I wish that the game would let you swap party members freely at least during the post game.

Gotterdammerung is the hardest thing to get so I wouldn’t rush that one. Can only get it on Hard mode if you weren’t aware.

For any time you don’t have Barret I would definitely still make use of that same idea giving everyone Chakra and one person Prayer + Carcanet. Also start making use of Sleep and Stop for crowd control. Basic enemies are almost always weak to one or the other. Or to just being staggered fast with lvl 2 magic or something

I’ve been treating my weapons more like swappable party members and using the materia to build them for specific purposes. Been a fun way to look at it and since all the weapons are full game viable you can really get into it.

With that said yea would be cool to be able to at least have a full team you can swap around. I get why you cant tho. Probably the next game.

@Gasaraki Yea I’ve built in that direction and have been using more of the time and sleep spells but you still only have so much MP. Hence why I need to do some Materia farming. Anyway yea I knew that about the accessory, just kinda slipped my mind. There’s some stuff still need to do yea.

I mean, I like TLOU (still need to finish it) but Naughty Dogs games kinda seem to run together. It’s like a super limited version of UNCHARTED gameplay wise. What’s there isn’t bad, but it’s nothing we haven’t really seen before. The story is kind of its selling IMO. I can get why many aren’t hype about it

Yeah it definitely feels like ND is running into that wall where everything is starting to feel REALLY samey. Now to their credit, especially with the Uncharted series, they hide it well enough with really well executed storytelling and characters. Honestly the Uncharted series gameplay wise is mediocre, but the characters really make you want to keep going.

But if TLOU2’s story takes a divebomb (I can’t speak for it myself, never played the original and haven’t read any of the leaks) their gameplay would have to take a serious leap forward in order to offset that.

I’d like you be able to control other party members outside of battle instead of Cloud inthe next one too, I think you could do that in FF8. Nothing major just a personal preference

Definitely trying that Barrett combo on my hard mode run

Honestly, on normal at least, I stuck with whatever weapon and armor that had the most materia slots. I was trying to level as much materia as I could. It’s paid off in hard mode. I have lot of maxed out materia. I’ve really have not played any games this week. I did get to Chapter 6 on Hard Mode on Sunday. Hard mode is fun. It’s made me more conscious of my magic usage. I used to use magic like it was going out of style on normal mode.

Do enemies have new attacks in hard mode? Curious if there’s a true challenge instead of artificial difficulty like just giving them more health and damage output

Man, Streets of Rage 4 just feels so dang right. When I started moving, when a threw my first punch as Blaze, I knew I was gonna love this game. Just punching fools feels so good in SOR4. You can combo and juggle fools.

And the beats! This soundtrack goes SO HARD! I NEED this soundtrack like I need blood in my veins.

I ordered it. Don’t know when it’ll get here though.

I’ve seen a few new attacks from the bosses. However the main challenge comes from the fact that you don’t have items at all. All the benches only recover HP. So how you spec out your characters matter. You are going to want to have maxed out Prayer and Chakra materias so you can heal yourself without magic. ATB gauge is more important, since you are more reliant on abilities than magic. First Strike Materia and anything that will boost your AP is big help. The margin of error is much smaller. Normal enemies, while harder, haven’t been much of an issue. Bosses require smart play, you can’t just spam high damage spells and pop an ether.
