Video Game General 7.0: Day Juan Ys: MoC June 9th & Wonderful 101 June 30th!

Yeah, usually with action type games, especially ones this long, you bound to see slight reskins or palette swaps, but Square didnt take the lazy route

My whack-a-box best score. I’m not sure why I found this mini game as fun as I did

I bodied that score. Triple slash and the dodge slash wreck everything.

Oh really? Well shit. How high did you get?

Also a combat sim mission:

I’m definitely considering picking up FF7R and having my wife try it out and seeing her reactions to it. I’m not much of a RPG person anymore (despite double dipping on Octopath), but I played through the original FF7 and beat it … so I guess I gotta get it.

Also, ā€œvery popularā€ opinion … I think the world could do without having all of the Resident Evil games being remade. If you’re going to remaster a single game from the series, fucking do the very first one!!

48000? Just shy of 50k. I didn’t see other prizes so I didn’t keep going. I also didn’t go that side route by the first time box. I’ll go back if there’s an achievement for a higher score.

Two triple slashes destroy the 1500 boxes. Dodge slash then hold :stop_button: destroys everything else.

Isn’t that remake mostly a graphical update with some QoL changes or something?

It’s nothing like RE2/3 remakes.

If you have an Xbox One (or PC) you need to do yourself a favor and play Ori Will of the Wisps. I played it for over 3 hours straight last night and it’s just incredible. Everything about the game is a masterpiece.

No. It’s a huge remake from the ground up with new areas, QOL changes, new puzzles and story beats. It’s as much a remake as 2 and 3 are.

yeah that’s one of my next purchases for sure… I have the first Ori game; it’s really the visuals that hooked me immediately; the art and design going on there…the colors… it’s gorgeous.

Vampyr (currently on sale on Switch, btw; 29.99)— y’know, this sadly doesn’t have much competition, but it recently hit me that yes… this is indeed my #1 vampire game…so far of all time. Naturally there is VTM: Bloodlines as well, but that one is from 2004 and obviously the graphics did not age well at all…and it was pc-only. I’ll get around to it one day, perhaps whenever I get a new gaming-oriented pc. Aside from that old game, the other notables it has to compete against are Blood Omen and ā€œkindaā€ TES V: Skyrim, (tho obviously vamps and werewolves aren’t the main focus of that game)…for me it actually beats Skyrim just on account of general stability. I never had to worry about this game crashing anytime I went into a new area…can’t say the same about Skyrim, sadly. Then of course Skyrim’s combat is a ā€œjankyā€ awkward mess.

The next contender for the throne of course is Bloodlines 2, though one major flaw already grinding my gears is that it is only in first-person perspective. I’ll still get it, but I really wanted that 3rd person view.

I see Vampire The Masquraid is on sale for Switch right now to. I assume you’ve played it since it’s an pen world vampire rpg with decision making in it so I’m just gonna ask if its any good and should I buy it?

That’s VTM Coteries of New York – I was torn on this one because I love that particular lore/content so much…but I can’t stand the type of game it is; it’s a visual novel…and from what I’ve seen, they don’t even have voice acting in it. It’s just music and pictures with text describing everything…and the characters don’t even animate. If they at least moved around and had spoken lines I’d probably get it but nah…not unless it was super-cheap one day like 2 or 3 bucks, maybe 4.

I love the art in there…but I really need more than that out of a game, in terms of production and gameplay. (haha that type of game barely has what I’d call ā€œgameplayā€ at all, actually… you’re just selecting sentences showing what your character does or says.) I also heard that your choices don’t even matter that much in terms of how the story ends for each character…which is another thing; there’s not even that many characters to pick from.

The music man! You left out the music!

It is up there with the best music this gen too. Up there with Gris, Abzu, and Hollow Knight.

Oh I see. Well thanks for the heads up then. I’ll pass on it.

yeah, it’s an unfortunate thing…I just looked it up again; Coteries only has 3 characters to pick from who represent Brujah, Ventrue and Toreador…quite a lot of VTM clans left out, though there is a standalone expansion soon featuring a Lasombra-clan character. I also usually prefer some kind of customization as well.

Diablo 3— the paragon levels continue to fly by— my seasonal wizard is Paragon 41 or so now; using some of the Vyr’s set, my usual thing…up to Torment II difficulty at this point…looking forward to getting the demonic ā€œspider-legā€ wings soon…you get it for completing the 4th tier of season challenges.
