I think BOTW has some of the best horses in gaming. They go fast, they don’t feel too slippery or too much like cars, and they go around trees and stuff like an actual horse. Only thing that even comes close IMO is the horses in both Red Dead games.
Roach controlled fine. It wasn’t the most intuitive video game horse, but I never had issues controlling him.
My only issue with the horses in botw is the issue I’ve had with every single horse in the series and that’s Stamina Sprinting never ever lasts long enough. Even a 5 spur horse in botw can’t run very far before becoming winded. Movies over play how far a horse can run flat out, but Zelda games go in the exact opposite direction and have horses that couldn’t circle a race track.
This is such an annoying Zelda staple even Darksiders 2 copied it and had my MAGICAL DEATH HORSE run out breath after 3 seconds…smh.
I used to not care about the whole left-handed stuff besides Skyward Sword because motion controls really screwed lefties.
Then I played OoT3D and Link was holding the damn Deku Stick wrong and lighting torches was annoying.
For multiple reasons, even though Hero Mode is a thing.
Back Slash is the single most broken move in the whole franchise, the enemies really ain’t all that, the bosses are super passive (Shoutouts to Morpheel) and the moment you get one or two bottles, you’re done. The game just can’t catch up.
I’m having the same problem with Ocarina tbh.
It doesn’t matter if you got a Fairy, a Red Potion or even just Milk. The game just can’t deal enough damage to kill you or really give you trouble. Stalfos were the closest things to actual trouble I had so far and that’s because they block and actually do good damage.
TP suffers from bottles even more because pretty much anything you can put into them is a healing item.
None of them are particularly hard tbh, though I do want to try out TP HD for Hero Mode later.
NOT IMPORTANT??? THE LORE MAN!! THE LORE!!!
But in all seriousness the combat was cool, but if felt like brushing my teeth with the wrong hand if I used the right hand or it tracked weird and was kind of a perspective mind fuck.
I was hype for the Giant Horse when I found it at first.
Then the son of a bitch decided to buckle in front of a damn Lynel because I couldn’t tame it in time and I legit got one-shotted. Mipha bailed me out, but after that, I put its ass on a stable and never looked back.
I’m with you, man. I didn’t mind the waggle as much as a lot of people do, and SS is one of my favorite Zelda games. But I’d love to play it with a traditional controller.
I was salty about Twilight Princess for Wii being mirrored for right handed whiners. When I saw Link was right handed in Skyward Sword I completely wrote the game off. I’ve been annoyed by right handed Link ever since.
Yeah, it was some real bullshit that nintendo didn’t have a left handed mode. Lefties die earlier and have shittier gaming experiences, it’s fucked up, man.
Skyward Sword absolutely needed an option to switch Link’s dominant hand. Twilight Princess on Wii should’ve had it too, though that’s a weird one because they mirrored the entire world in the opposite direction of the GameCube version, not just Link’s sword hand.
