oh yeah, my team ran into a Phoenix-powered Gambit too at one point…ha, the shit was awesome. Of course this is the Gauntlet you run thru that ultimately unlocks Jean/Phoenix herself. I haven’t tried her out on the team just yet though.

There was one run where that power showed up at least twice, so I had both Hulk and Venom with Phoenix power! That was a spur of the moment decision tho; Thor might’ve been a better, more interesting 2nd choice.

9 is one of my favorites. Great memories with that game and I’ve played through it multiple times over the years. I believe the fajer of FF left the company after that game and of course the series took a different direction after that.
I never bothered to go for an Excalibur II run though, but it also felt pointless because Steiner would clap everyone for 9999 with Climhazard anyway.
Haha I’m talking about the in-game characters being dwarfs/midgets. I don’t think it would translate well with modern graphics…they’d have to stylize it in a way.

I think 3D IV being remade could work. I mean. They’ve done it before on the DS and on Mobile. Wouldn’t be hard to do again on a modern system like the switch.
I think the IX Dwarves and remodels in general would be fine too. They’d do right by making Garnet slim thicc and Beatrix extra thicc too
I hated the way FFIII & IV on the DS looked. I found them to be ugly as hell.
FFIV remake on PSP though with those HD sprites…goddamn. Arguably the best version of the game imo, especially with the extra content you get as well. DA AFTER YEARS
I wouldn’t call anything about 7’s proportions real. They were fucking deformed monsters.

I always looked at 9’s style as it being told and displayed as a fairy tale book or something of its ilk. Since that’s essentially what it was. It was the last hurrah of that type of final fantasy.
if you look at dissidia most of 9’s characters could transition to a more proportionate style fine except for vivi he can stay short. although as a grown man who stands 5’2 myself id be down for short people adventures. we can can be heroes too! we got wolverine,link,vegeta that’s prob it tho.
I always felt that Square made the sprites in FF7/9 that way intentionally, especially with FF9 being them going back to their roots. They look how the SNES era sprites look in a way, but in 3D.
