Playing the JP 13 Sentinels demo now and if nothing else this game’s music is fucking amazing. It does some really cool contextual stuff too
How’s the gameplay???
The first battle just teaches the absolute basics but I’m pretty sure it’s RTS where time stops while selecting actions. It’s basically only taught the menuing so far though so not sure yet. After that is a VN section that I’m in now
The VN bits have some great character animations lol.
You talk to characters and get keywords that you can think about or mention to other characters. A little like Heavy Rain.
It has conversations that go on in real time in the background which is kind of cool. It might actually have misable keywords cause of this?
The backgrounds are seriously beautiful.
Seems like the VN parts take place before the gameplay does I think, chronologically I mean.
Battle:
Since it’s set in the city the map has you actually moving along roadways and the like instead of a grid or whatever.
Generally you have to protect a home base.
Attacks have an associated wait time after using them until they can move again, so real time but still requiring some tactics because of that.
So yeah, it’s real time, enemies will always be moving but whenever a character is ready you can bring up the menu to move them or select commands. After moving and picking any commands they do whatever and then time resumes and depending on the action chosen that unit needs a set amount of time to be selectable again. Attacks generally have AoE since the enemies tend to have largeish numbers
Sega Ages SHINOBI trailer
holy shit.
steam changed its website completely. like, completely.
oh yea, and vanguard princess has freakin online matches now.
Damn this demo is LONG. I’m still playing it. The battles are really fun so far, there’s good tactical variety and even though you’re really only ever seeing a radar screen the effect animations are cool enough. And it feels pretty awesome to slam a line of lined up baddies with a rail gun or intercept missiles with your own micro missiles lol
heh, sheeeeeittttt, GEARS 5 Horde— such a golden moment to use my Ultimate as Jack… Swarmak shows up, and there happened to be a pouncer close to him so I “hijacked” that pouncer and hit him with that juicy pouncer damage for the entire duration…I also have that card that causes an explosion once the ultimate is over either by time or the creature dying… once this round was over I saw the delicious results— 106k damage, man…ha, I didn’t even know it was possible to get that much as Jack. That may have been the best possible scenario…since Swarmak is a giant target, nearly impossible to miss…and Pouncer’s projectiles hit like a shotgun spread…so every last bit of that shot was counting for huge damage…it looked like multiple instances of 600, so like a shotgun where each pellet of the blast is doing 600
Was reading through comments about a post about the PS4’s milestone and some guy’s comment said only reason PS2 sold so much was because people had to keep buying multiple ones because the motor or something in the PS2 was bad… and apparently this guy said he went through 8 PS2s.
I didn’t have a PS2, but I find this hard to believe.
I had brought two PS2s during it’s lifespan. The disc reader on my first one died on me. I would regularly get the dreaded disc read error and it wouldn’t read blue bottom discs.
That’s mad weird. My fat boi and slim still work. I’ve never heard of someone going through 8 PS2s ever. Had a friend get one replacement, can’t remember why. But it was just that once.
My launch era PS2 lasted till I sold it when I got my Backwards compatible PS3.
When my PS3 died and I had to find a replacement, I went looking for another PS2.
Went through 2 (used) PS2s till I settled on my current limited ed Blue PS2.
The ps2 disc motor problem was fixable. Anyone I knew that had the problem got it repaired and never had to buy a new ps2. Shit was no where near the level of the RROD.
Having worked behind the counter during ps2 era, I can confirm that fat ps2s were pretty bad. Not anywhere near first 360s but if I’m pretty sure that fat ps2 would be no.2 on the list of worst made consoles in terms of problems.
Rumors about Terry for smash coming out in the coming weeks have been floating around…been ignoring them but Nintendo updated their website so…maybe?
I’ve had probably 6 PS2’s. Maybe more. 1 fat and the rest were slim’s. The only one I had to return/warranty was the fat one.
For whatever reason it’s video output would only display things in black and white. We tried it on every TV we had in the house. We also bought several A.V. cables to see if it was just a faulty cable. Naw. Would only display black and white.
So my parents returned it to wherever they got it about a week later. Gave me the new one and it Worked like a charm. Never had an issue with it either.
Never had an issue with the slims. The reason I had so many was constant buying/selling due to circumstances.
i did get disc read error problem on my fat ps2 so i did eventually get a slim that had a mod chip so i can’t really complain.
