Video Game General 6.5: Now with more surprise mechanics

I can’t get enough of laughing at this game…

 haha they always have a silly vid on things like this, and I think they’ve outdone themselves on this one

I want the scramble…

Bethesda seems to be just cutting the bullshit and going straight at the people who are willing to pay for their game at the expense of everyone else and their reputation, like every other AAA publisher these days. I hope they crash and burn at this like I hope every pub that does this will. But it’ll probably take a while.

Don’t worry, they’ll make another port of Skyrim for nextgen consoles and cover their costs for Elder Scrolls VI and Starfield combined

Kojima be spending Sony Money on celebrity appearances instead of the game itself

If Death Stranding turns out to be another blowup like MGSV was, he will never ever work in the industry again and be remembed as a fraud like Mollenaux Molyneux

Peter Molyneux?

Kojima would never be on Molyneux level. Kojima doesn’t promise delusions of grandeur and fail to deliver on it.

So word is going around that Last of Us Part 2 has been delayed until sometime in Q2 of next year.

The source is kotaku tho. So no real validity. We’ll see what happens.

And MGSV was clearly cut off at the kneea. I don’t know why people aside from nut cases like Po are jumping on the Kojima is a Hack wagon. He’s one of the absolutly least hackiest game developers there is.

Yes what you all always want game designers to be. He’s an artist. He has shit to say and he uses his medium to say it and like a true artist you may not always like what he has to say but he has the balls to say it anyway. He also always goes above and beyond to deliver a technical peice of work that pushes some kind of boundry.

Want games to be art while shitting on of the industries few true artists.

I just don’t think Death Stranding looks any good. :woman_shrugging:t3:

It seems like it’s overly convoluted for the sake of being “deep” and “immersive” like most of Kojima’s games.

Don’t get me wrong. I don’t think he’s a bad game designer or whatever. But after Sons of Liberty his games became less and less fun for me to follow because how ridiculous they got when it came to story. What he provides just no longer interests me or entertains me.

Death Stranding looks no different.

I do like the fact they are adding in a “movie” mode though where you do the minimal and just experience the actual story. That may make it easier to absorb.

Yeah I’m gonna wait and see how people like it and why before I pick it up.

Thats fine. I mean I don’t have a ton of interest in it either, but a lot of that is because I still don’t know what it is. Haven’t been following the latest trailers but everyone I’ve seen had minimal gameplay, it’s a new story with characters I don’t know…so nothing there for me to get hyped about, personally. I just don’t get modern day gamers where ho hum product (That’s easy to see the executive meddling in said product) somehow invalidates over 30 years of successful, interesting work.

If I where Kojima id have thought long and hard about pulling a Lucas and getting out of the life. Gamers treat him like shit. Many of them still don’t get MGS2 even tho it’s even more relevant today then before and dump on him for making a legit thought provoking peice. Sent him death threats every time he said he wanted to move away from Metal Gear and try something else. Bent over backwards to answer questions that didn’t and where never meant to have answers and then everyone dumps on him for those answers he didn’t want to give them in the first place. Then when he has trouble with management cutting him off at the knees everyone call him a hack even tho he still delivered a fat product full of gameplay.

Gamers don’t deserve him to be perfectly frank.

As an aside MGS3 is after MGS2 and has one of the simplest MG stories to follow…you really had trouble keeping up with that one Stu?

I’ve said it from get go after the first trailer. Death Stranding looks like ass and will probably play like ass.

Gonna be overly convoluted, a bunch of celeb appearances, trash gameplay and bet buggy as hell.

Dudes a hack lmao.

What’s the gameplay?

Look, as much as I hate on Konami for doing the shit they’ve done to Kojima, fact of the matter is he did fuck all for like 5-6 years. So much so that during the game’s PR campaign they literally showed all of the story via cutscenes in trailers. Hideo went way overbudget and delivered a shit product with the open world gameplay being its only saving grace. Deadlines are a thing, so are demands from your bosses. Fail to meet those means you failed to do your job. Konami weren’t entirely in the wrong for firing Kojima, the problem is they went overboard with the punishment instead of keeping the guy (especially after how much money he brought to the company) but just decreasing his budget threshold for whatever next project he’d work on, be it MGS6 or something else entirely

This is precisely why I am worried about Death Stranding and how many celebrities are already in the game, along with Sony giving him an unlimited development budget. This is why I fear DS can turn out to be MGSV 2.0, except this time not even gameplay might be good.

Like I said - if DS is a flop, Kojima will forever tarnish his reputation and be considered a hack fraud

Damn dog that’s a lot of personal insight you got there. How many deadlines did he miss? What was his total budget he blew past? What where his bosses demands? We know top brass was changed mid production. Bout it, far as I know.

Ladders, rope and other random shit going by the trailers.

So you don’t actually know?

I’ve actually kept up with all the trailers. Other than the shadow people things they keep throwing new celebs at us and refuse to show much else.

I really don’t expect the full release to deviate much from what they’ve shown.
