cheh,

I enjoy Gears 5, but I would agree with the lack of multiplayer content being quite disappointing…this along with the server issues that popped up today pushed me back to Gears 4 so I could start having more fun again…was in one hell of a Horde session with a random team where 2 quit but the 3 of us that remained continued on for quite a while, despite a having a terribly inadequate base (a combination of things but I’d take most of the blame since on this alt profile my engineer was still a fresh level 2, with only 1 skill card)…oddly enough these factors that made it a struggle also made it more of a thrill…enemies swarming in from all sides because we were set up in a bad spot of the map…and only 3 of us with barely any fortifications…the shit was awesome, man…

…it also appears they left bonus xp in effect, since my engineer went straight from 2 to level 9 just in that one session.

anyway, yeah they need to pick up the pace with the multiplayer content in part 5 for sure… I imagine it’s probably a bit embarrassing in the industry if you release a sequel…and yet while it’s still new… the fanbase is gradually going BACK to the previous game since they’re having more fun with that.

So I thought my MK2 JAMMA PCB may have had the sound working because I didn’t realize the volume is set from the service menu, but turns out that still isn’t working.

However I also noticed some weird shit in MK2. And it’s been so damn long since I played this in the arcade, that I don’t really remember but I’m like 99% sure this shit isn’t right.

With Lui Kang (and Raiden so far) when you press forward/back, they take like a full step. But with the other characters I tested (Scorpion, Reptile, and in the video Kitana), they all just move the distance you hold the joystick.

Check out the video to see what i mean. This isn’t right either right?

EDIT:

Okay this is even weirder. I used Shang Tsung and he takes the big steps, but if I morph into Scorpion, it works as expected with movement as much as you hold the sticks.

I’m in need of a new headset. The earcups on my PlayStation headset is all fucked up and the there’s tons of wear and tear on the headband. Comfort is becoming a problem so it time for a new one. Though I don’t know if I should go for another gaming headset or if should get a standalone mic like a modmic and attach it to standard headphones.

I love this game so much. My friends and I had a blast with this, and I was one of two people who pre-ordered it at one of the Software Etc (r.i.p).

The boss fights were hype as fuck.

Speaking of Dreamcast goodness…why couldn’t Sonic Adventure 2 go in this direction instead of what we got :sob:

Well for starts the Dreamcast can’t even begin to dream of having environments that large.

The DLC was GDLK. Haven’t attempted Hero Mode, but I was practicing the advanced combat mechanics a few months back, but decided to play other games.

I feel like jump cancels and bomb parry’s are essential in this mode.

EDIT:

They could’ve been bigger than the corridors we got in SA2, though.

Trial of the Sword can lick my balls. It’s not fun.

I dunno about the other DLC I understand there is more to it later but this bash everything with a one hit kill weapon while you to die in one hit…is boring. It’s dull and uninteresting.

Yea I dunno. Nothing on the DC boasts very large environments and the ones that do don’t move at even half the pace. The width wouldn’t be enough. It would end up being a kiddie pool imo. By the time Sonic gets to full speed you’d be at the other end and have to stop.

I don’t think the DC could a stage large enough to make it worth it, much less a whole suite of stages. GDRs aren’t that big and the DS memory cache was pretty small to. I mean it wasn’t until the PS2 we started seeing large open world’s and those are all pretty fuckin rough. Those games are DVDs to cuz they are over a gig in size. No Dreamcast game is larger then a gig, they all fit on one gig CDRs, the GDR format for Dreamcast doesn’t even support over 80 mins.

As much as the physics work and Sonic and co look controllable I imagine trying to make a true open world environment for Sonic to run around in while also staying interesting as a game would be a huge undertaking. Not saying impossible just would take a shit ton of work…work that I kinda don’t blame if Sega didn’t want to put the money and effort into attempting.

Gonna have to disagree hard on this one, but then again I’m not on Hero mode. I had a lot of fun with it even though I beat DLC 2 first. Playing the game ‘from the beginning’ so to speak and having to build up resources was nice change of pace was one of my favorite things in BotW.

I don’t mind building up resources, in fact I love it. The problem is the trial locks you into rooms with specific resources and there aren’t enough of them, not imo. When I’m spending half my time running in a circle dropping bombs over and over youve failed to create a mental problem and have just created a problem, imo.

I am playing on Hero Mode correct and I’m sure that a pretty big impact on my experience. Regenerating health shits all over this “locked in a room with limited resources” problem they went me to work through. Instead I’m just spamming a high damage, low cool down option over and over and over and over again because it’s literally unlimited and let’s me hoard my other extremely limited options.

I’ve heard great things about the SteelSeries Arctis 7 headset. A few of my friends have them and love them.

Walmart has them for $84, and they’re usually around $130.

Edit: I guess those are the 5s. Probably still good though. Might be worth checking out.

yep…servers appear to be fucked over for everyone in Gears 5 today…

I already gave up hours ago and was on Gears 4 again…got my engineer to level 10, several more skill cards, unlocked “DB Industries Baird”, etc. etc.

only thing i really remember about the combat in 12 was that espers were as strong as watered down beer at a frat party.

and as for the gambit system, took me a while before i realized how much you could play with it. inventing interesting strats. like i put basch and gave him, decoy, reverse, and beserker. with genji gloves. he went off. like off off. and damn near unstoppable due to reverse. and i gave fran nihopalaoa ring which reverses remedy item into ailments, and have her toss out remedies to every enemy in sight and watch em get infected with a host of ailments. god times. good times.

btw, fran’s voice actress was mimicing Eartha Kitt.
if you liked the Fran voice actress, you’ll love Eartha Kitt

my biggest gripe was esper weakness. if only they were as strong as when you first fight them.
how could enix fuck that up. smh.
imagine if you fought and captured mewtwo into your pokeball, only to have the asshole come out as snorlax from the same pokeball.
thats what it felt like to capture and later use a esper in that game. sucked ass hard.
