Video Game General 6.5: Now with more surprise mechanics

I would never recommend R-Type to a 4 year old tho…

I remember playing it at 9 years old on Sega Master System and it was awesome. But, yeah, 4 might be too young just because of difficulty.

Yeah you are right I might just take it to Goodwill or toss it on FB marketplace for cheap and see if any takers. I have to go through some other boxes of shit I found too. I have some old sega CD games in there too and some N64, PS2 things as well. Probably some random peripherals and shit in there too.

Depends on how stubborn of a 4 year old however lol

Galaga then

Well yea, but in general?

Man why can’t these type of people go the fuck away.

Twinkle Star Sprites is another vertical shooter I’d recommend. Very colorful for younger kids and is easy enough to get into

That goes for just about any Guilty Gear character.

Ocean dub for life. Any other Piccolo than Scott McNeil is uncivilized.

I have grown to accept that Piccolo is both Vegeta and All Might and Zoro.

But I do miss that old Piccolo yelling.

To be fair Chris sounds fine using his normal speaking voice, he was always a little too throaty as Piccolo, and its not THAT bad, prefer McNeil tho

Im used it it so it doesn’t bother me at all now

Yo…

you guys need to play RiME if you haven’t yet.
This game is wonderful - lovely artstyle, amazing music, the levels are fairly big with lots of room for exploration and collectibles, and the game itself is somewhat short (there are basically just 4 big stages) so you can beat it in a couple of days tops.

There’s no story in a sense of having big long cutscenes or any dialogue, but the visual storytelling here is really damn strong, and…holy shit the ending can really get you. You can kinda guess what it’s really about through hints here and there (including the aforementioned collectibles), but it’s better if you experience it yourself. Seriously, actually play it, don’t just watch a youtube playthrough.

It’s also a PS+ title so for those of you on PS4 - you probably have it in your library since 2018. The game only weighs around 5GB so it’s a pretty quick download too. And of course there are some trophies to hunt for, including a platinum, so there’s some extra reward for exploring the game’s levels

In case you just wanna know what it’s about:

SPOILERS

It’s a story about a father losing his son during a heavy storm in the sea, and each of the game’s stages are named after the 5 stages of Grief

Here’s all the old game shit I was talking about. Anyone know if any of this shit has any real value and worth putting for sale somewhere?

Here’s the Rock Band drum set and guitar. Have pads that suppress the sound a bit on the drums.

Wii Fit board, some N64 games, and a really limited Zero Hour X360 faceplate I got when I attended at X360 launch.

Singstar 80’s on PS2, Sprung on DS, and that little bag at top right is Sanwa JLF bat top, circle gate and square gate. I"ll probably toss the Sanwa stuff.

PS2 Multitap, Turbo Graphix 16 controller, Genesis, Sega CD (pretty sure Sega CD don’t work), N64, Night Trap and Sonic CD for Sega CD, Little Big Planet for PS Vita sealed, and the 4MB RAM cart for Saturn

EZ Pass for DS - pretty sure this was used to hack it back in the day but don’t remember exactly.

Also found my Gameboy and put 4 AA batteries in it and it started right up, but the sound didn’t work. I had Alleyway in it.

I dont think the rockband stuff has any real value

The Genesis and Sega CD, the N64, Saturn stuffs, Turbo Graphix 16 controller all have a decent amount of value so do all the games for the old consoles. The Sega CD (about $30 to 50) even broken worth more than the Rockband stuff. What is really worth alot if you have the extender and all the metal brackets that came with the Sega CD.

I don’t have the extender it wasn’t in the box. I do have the metal bracket on the bottom of my genesis still though.

And the Rockband stuff is decent according to ebay I was just searching. Like sets of drums sell for like $30-$50 pretty easily. Better than nothing. Although I don’t think I’d ship that shit. I may toss it on Facebook marketplace and just see if anything happens. Anything is better than it sitting in boxes doing nothing for me.

Perhaps in your area it sells more, where I am at a used game store would ask you to leave if you showed up with Rockband stuff. Hope you find a seller.

Too bad you don’t have the extender, that bit of plastic alone can go for alot.

Most retro games have some value. I did a quick search for Mario Kart 64 and Super Mario 64 and they were 25-30 bucks a pop loose.

https://gamevaluenow.com/

Individually search for what you want to sell there. Those sites track recent Ebay sales so they’re pretty reliable when it comes to the price of games.

If you have more Sega CD, Saturn and Dreamcast stuff lying around complete they can be worth insane amounts.

^ If you have that specific version of Daytonnnnnnnnnnna USA it’s worth 600 bucks used. Six hundred bucks used. :woman_cartwheeling:
