Video Game General 6.5: Now with more surprise mechanics

God doesn’t do house chores or goto school. It is only natural.

It’s funny because it’s true.

I’d love a new left 4 dead game but valve can’t count to 3.

I couldnt find the original meme that said this about Japanese games, it was alot funnier. But yeah, Japan don’t like Gods lol

Ironic, they made L4D2 to end one meme, but it perpetuated another.

Capcom heard that people were gonna choose FF7R and Cyberpunk over R3Make.

They…removed those obstacles.

Is there a game recommendation service or site out there? As in, if you like one game, you should try this out?

Though I DO have some games that I could pick up and start playing more, the general drought is so real I was actually thinking of picking up Modern Warfare from this used games store I visit sometimes. Despite everything I’ve said about it. It’s only really looking up youtube videos on where it’s at now in terms of gameplay (exactly where it was when I decided “no thanks” after the beta) that stopped me.

Doesn’t Steam do that?

I don’t play on PC. Could I sign up to steam anyway, say I like a number of games, and get recommendations based off that?

it does. It makes recommendations based on your gameplay habits and what titles you are interested in

I dunno. What are you looking for?

Dunno. I like Call of Duty, but Black Ops 3 was the last one I could tolerate (as in, I don’t really LOVE it, but it has some people playing and it’s fun enough). Looks like MW is a camp fest with Micros waiting in the wings, and people are still complaining about valid issues months after release. I could afford it used (only way I’ll buy) easily no problem, but it just looks unappealing whenever I do research. I was only thinking of buying it to get something new.

I really like:
-The Spider-Man/Batman Arkham games (not Knight though).
-Uncharted 2 & 4.
-Horizon Zero Dawn. I have The Witcher 3, but haven’t completed it yet.
-The Mortal Kombat series from 9 on.

Have you played Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War? They are essentially the Arkham games with a LotR skin with the nemesis system which is absolutely amazing. Mad Max game has similar combat to the Arkham but will a more generic open world busy work design to it.

Have you played Uncharted: Lost Legacy? It’s the standalone expansion to UC4. 2013 Tomb Raider and it’s sequels are similar games to Uncharted with more to do.

Play Injustice

I played Lost Legacy. I traded it in after playing it. It was good, but not up to the quality of the “main” games in the series. Especially since a pretty big setpiece at a crucial point is a ripoff of the train sequence from UC2. Might look into Tomb Raider, though I never had interest in it.

I actually have Injustice 2 but didn’t play it much. Wait. I THINK I have injustice 2. Might have traded it in.

I’ll look into Shadow of Mordor & Shadow of War, but that LOTR atmosphere in general is not really my jam. Thanks for the recs though.

Yeah its set in the LOTR universe, Shadow of Mordor it plays how Assassin Creed would of play if it had none of the stupid filler fetch quests and dumb shit, with Arkham’s style of combat.
And with the Nemesis system in place, you die to a Orc (or fail to kill one), he gets to level up instead. Die to the same Orc too many times and he becomes a Nemesis. And shit you do to Orcs show up later, like fail to kill a Orc boss by fire the orc will come back remembering you burned him and he as a new nick name like instead of being Morg, he now Morg the Burned or Morg of the Fire. And everything procedurally generated except for certain story elements. You can even enthrall orcs to work for you, let them get up into ranks and how you have a Orc Warband under your command to lead into battle or you can just kill them off wholesale. Last I played I had a major arch nemesis rival called Caca the Unkillable, his face was held together with iron bolted into place, and he more scars than orc, and he moved up to be the Top War Boss, so he was a hard target.
