Ah, word. That’s pretty tight you have them all so far.
Haha. Thanks. It’s just a dumb hobby.
I remember I worked at GameStop when they showed them at E3 2014. I thought to myself “oh man, those are pretty cool. I don’t think I’d want all of them though. Probably just favorite characters or runs of game series’”
Then a few weeks before the release date of them (11/2214. Same day as Smash U and Pokémon Gen 3 Remakes) we were doing inventory for the launch of those products to make sure we had all our preorder inventory, etc. I opened a box of Amiibo and muttered “oh no” my coworker asked me “what’s wrong? Something missing?” I told him “yeah. All my money. I’m going to need all of these”
When release day came I was able to get all of them from MY GameStop and the toys r us (rip) across the street except for Marth. My brother in-law was on his way to target so I texted him if he could look. He grabbed the last one.
Little did I know Wii Fit Trainer, Villager and Marth were insanely rare. They were know as the Wave 1 Unicorns. This is before I ever even knew about the amiibo subreddit. So I looked up the aforementioned amiibo online and they were all going for $100-200 each.
I’ve thought about being done with amiibo several times over. Especially since I’ve been in Arkansas. But I knew I’d feel incomplete if I didn’t have all of them. So I’ve just kept buying them.
170+ Of them later I never want to know how much money I’ve spent or remember all I’ve been through to get them all. That said; I also don’t regret putting so much time in effort into getting them all. Cause it has been fun.
The downside to being an out of box collector is as soon as you open them they lose almost all their resell value. But. I never got into this as an investment or a resell thing. I got into it because they’re little trinkets of some of the most iconic characters in gaming history.
You know… SOMA is precisely the kind of a game why I just can’t give a shit about the “walking simulator” genre. While the story/writing can be interesting, the gameplay is really damn dull, the game itself is super linear, puzzles can barely even be called that, and the enemies are more like an annoyance rather than legitimate threat
Also don’t like how in several instances SOMA forces you to kill others as if it’s trying to make you feel bad about those actions. But nope, doesn’t work either. It’s random “people” I have literally just met (and most are on the verge of dying anyway), so there’s no emotional investment or connection there. It’s just another step on the way.
If you want to know what the game’s about - just watch a youtube playthrough. If you absolutely have to experience it yourself - devs added a Safe difficulty which makes enemies unable to kill you
Holy shit, man
Yeah, you absolutely HAVE to keep going. You might be sitting on a fortune one day!
Once it’s all said and done They’ll either go to my nephew when he’s old enough (if he even wants them) or be bubble wrapped and put into a box.
Fucking Kakarot tommorow son. I’m hype.
My two biggest hopes with this game are just that the combat feels good and the flying/traversal is fun. Dragonball is one of my favorite pieces of media period, so it’s gonna take a lot for me to dislike this game in all honesty, but those two things are super important.
Someone brought up the complaint to me that the game doesn’t start all the way back in OG Dragonball, having you move your way into Goku’s adulthood and fleshing out the original series a little more. I hadn’t even thought about that until he said it, but, that honestly would’ve been super cool. I hope they can add some really interesting expansions like that into the game. It’d be sweet to get new moves and abilities that you can bring into the main game later.
Tomorrow is Thursday.
Yes. Games typically release at 10PM the day before release on PSN.
Oh. I don’t think I’ve ever preordered a game digitally. At least not in recent memory.
Yeah it’s kinda nice you don’t have to wait till midnight anymore. Even the Game Stop here will be handing out the game at 9:00PM. Which I assume is an attempt to incentivize people to purchase it through them since they’ll get it an hour ahead of PSN/Xbox.
Yeah. The GameStop thing has been going on for as long as I can remember. I worked at GameStop just shy of 3 years and it was that way the entire time.
I just didn’t think it worked the same for digital copies. That’s neat. I just can’t justify $60 for the console equivalent of a CD Key.
Well, I knew they did a 10PM release for a really long time but the 9PM thing didn’t start until a couple years ago (at least in my area). I gotta assume that’s just to compete with digital sales.
And yeah, 60 dollars being the retail standard for digital games is complete bullshit and it needed to stop years ago.
Btw, did you snag the season pass bundle or just basic game?
Just the game, why?
Just curious.
I’d like to see my year-end review but I forgot my phone at a friends place. I have two-factor setup(as you all should) so I need my phone to be able to log-in.
I’m wondering what my most played games will be. I think Bloodstained will be top.
The time depends on your timezones actually. It should be midnight for ECT, 9 for PST
Yeah I’ll snag the season pass if the stuff included looks cool. Just waiting for them to show what it is.
Ah, you’re right Gasa. Forgot about timezones. I’m in Colorado so I guess we would get it 2 hours early.
Edit
My brother and i share my account, so all our gaming happens there
He is not a fps person, but for some reason he loves playing apex, lol.
Also, i would have thought that xrd rev 2 would have been on the top 3 since we play it the most alongside ctr (just like in the end of the 90s/ beginning of the 00’s) but i guess that when we have gatherings dbfz ends being played moar.
Also, surprised that mhw didnt make it to the top 3.
