Video Game General 6.5: Now with more surprise mechanics

That developing for a nonstandard platform is difficult, especially so for a primarily console based developer who is used to working on a static platform. 6 months may not have been enough time for them to cover every base, or even most of them and they will have to damage control out the gate like the majority of developers have to do these days be it PC or Console.

Ok, so in essence, making and porting games is hard. We agree.

6 months may not have been enough time, we definitely agree there.

I’m still confused as to why this post is being directed at me as if it’s some kind of contradiction to my point. My point being: it’s weird as shit for an expansion to release 6 months apart from its other platforms and it’s far from standard practice. They should’ve waited to simultaneously release it, or at the very least released it in a state that actually warranted that extra six months. Some amount of “damage control” for a newly released game is to be expected, sure. But the amount of issues surrounding this specific port isn’t and shouldn’t be commonplace.

Again, we get countless game releases that happen across all platforms on the same day and are functional for said release. I’m not sure why Capcom is getting such a heavy-handed benefit of the doubt from you.

Because you where acting like they sat around woth their thumbs up their butt doing nothing for 6 months.

Edit: Far more important subject. You got a Mic yet?

Well, when games regularly release on multiple platforms with little to no issues on the same day, and then Capcom takes an extra six months to port an EXPANSION over only for it to be riddled with huge issues on launch, then yeah. I have questions. Lol.

On the mic subject, I just realized the other day that the VR camera has a built in mic. So I guess I have one. Found out the hard way when I was talking to myself during a Tekken match and the other dude started talking back. :joy:

This has been the case with MHW PC since it launched. Their content always takes 6+ months to arrive on PC and there are always issues. My question is why are you only noticing now?

That’s pretty funny.

I’d agree in the lower difficulties especially once you power up, but once you get up to some of the higher difficulties, the enemies hit like trucks.

No seriously , for a console you got 1 hardware config to test for, maybe 2 per platform.

For PC the number is near infinite.
Plus shit like DRM and dedicated launchers often break the otherwise working game.

They hit like trucks, too bad they almost never hit. You can hit as hard as you want doesn’t matter when your move pool is hella small, your aggression is a joke, and you just overall rarely have to worry. Once you learn the launch mechanics for DMD that modes a massive joke to…a long…slogging…boring joke Where everything has too much health and the DT mechanic is…not good.

I don’t like DMC3s DMD mode. Game tops out on very hard imo.

Edit: important note is that so far the only DMD mode I have liked is DMC1s. I don’t have enough time with Vs to have a real opinion on it, but 3 and 4s DMD modes suck imo.

I don’t like hard modes that just make the enemies damage sponges, but the fact that DMD gives some of them extra attacks is a good reason to play it.

If all you’re doing is exploiting a certain mechanic of the game to win, I guess I depends on what your aim is. If you’re trying to just get to the end of the game, that’s all well and good, but if you’re actually trying to get good at it, that’s a different story.

DMC1 def had the best enemies (until 5 atleast). Aint no spamming the same moves and they’re actively trying to kill you even on Normal. A marionette would fuck you up if you got too comfortable

The new attacks are indeed nice but it’s not enough after DMC1 and Ninja Gaidens harder modes. DMC1s DMD is extremely well balanced and rewards efficency. Enemies also hace new tech in this mode. Ninja Gaiden just throws whole new enemies with new move sets at you and that’s bad ass.

I wouldn’t call launching enemies into the air, a bread and butter mechanic, abuse. Don’t even have to JC to keep them there.

I am good at it. That’s kind of the problem. The skill cealing for winning at combat is pretty low. Doing cool combos takes work, just winning, not so much. Combat is the part of action games I like the best and DMC3s combat falls short, for me anyway. Almost nothing in the game that isn’t a boss is dangerous, and some of them are completely obnoxious (Abyss) or completely useless (Dullahans). I dont feel like i out fought mich of anything in 3. Im too stronk. Everything dies with little effort, and jacking up their health values ala DMC3:DMD Mode only makes the issue worse imo.

Speaking of DMC, high time Vergil gets his own campaign (no not DmC). I thinkin DMC6 will be about him & Dante goin thru the 9 circles of Hell going by that 5 ending

And some remake of DMC2 that makes it not suck would be cool although its prolly not worth the effort

I think remaking DMC2 would be a waste of time as it really doesn’t add anything worth salvaging. If they wanna do it tho, id give it a chance.

I really thought DMCV would get added content in the form of like playable Vergil and the like. To see 3 getting new content and V just sleeping on easy money is a little annoying to be honest.

Yeah, 5 not having DLC (obvious DLC at that) is a head-scratcher. Honestly, that scenario I mentioned could just as easily be DLC as opposed to a full game. Even Vergils journey up until he becomes Uriel would be good content

Unlike Capcom to NOT milk some shit :joy:

Yea not milking V like…at all has me hella confused. One time I want Capcom to shower me with post game additional content and they give me nothing but crickets lmao.

There was probably no DLC for 5 planned cause after the controversy of the reboot Capcom didn’t want to invest money on a risky roll of the dice

I have no idea if that’s true or not. Just an outsider looking in perspective

Yea that was my initial thought as well, but after it not only sold super well but also was critically recieved well as well as fanbase recieved well I figured they would have shifted gears like a race car driver…

Guess not?

I could see that reboot makin them hesistant. But now that they know 5 was a MASSIVE hit, they should get working on that DLC asap. The demand is definitely there

And a crossover with Bayonetta (not gonna happen but I can dream) :eyes:

I always wonder if the reason for this is Capcom or Platinum.
