Video Game General 6.5: Now with more surprise mechanics

This game looks amazing. I’m kinda blown away.

I get RE gave up being RE a while back and became a Bay movie, what I dont get is what’s actually going on. There plot going on that makes no sense to me. But then again I never bother to finish said game

I remember my GS manager scoring the demo from conference and had it on the floor. I was told the demo default “normal mode” was on hard so the enemies beat our asses.

I don’t know if I’ve ever had more fun in a game than playing Vergil in dmc3.

I recall that was still true for the North American version. Then the Special Edition made all versions equal.

I dont really see style change in DMC3 as an issue, its a bonus u don’t actually have to use. Honestly, its cool Capcom would even bother to add anything to a game that ancient, they didn’t have to do anything extra at all 🤷🏾

You have to play all four campaigns to get the full story. Some sections in the game make little sense unless you played another character campaign.

Dante is far too strong for the enemy line up he faces.

RE6 story is silly and batshit insane, but I’d also argue the story is hardly a strong aspect of… Pretty much any RE game.

I like how the different campaigns gave you a little bit of everything. Jake got the Nemesis style campaign, Leon got the slower paced horror style campaign, Chris got the action packed cover shooter campaign, and Ada got a bit of a mix of everything.

Idk, people like to say it’s not really a Resident Evil game and I’m not sure I understand why. Ever since 3 the games have had a pretty heavy lean towards action, and they seem to double down on it with every game after. RE6 just seems like a natural progression of what they were already doing for years, in my honest opinion.

Resident Evil 7 was a great return to form though. Outside of the enemy variety being an issue later in the game, it feels like classic RE in so many ways. Honestly can’t understand being a fan of the first two games and NOT liking 7.

Idk, RE6 just felt so soulless to me. Not to mention boring as sin. Like that’s what killed me, even in mediocre RE games they generally aren’t boring. At worst they’re hilarious. RE6 I didn’t hate, but I can’t point to a moment in the game where I can say “Yeah, that was fun.” It was very tedious and a slog for pretty much every campaign.

It was also RE6 biggest weakness. The trying to please everyone approach never works. Leon campaign is suppose to appeal to old school fans but it abandons it once you reach the catatombs and it becomes RE4 from then on. Chris is the worst of the lot as the gameplay mechanics conflict with what the campaign is going for. If they want to go for CoD type shit then dropping the survival horror trappings would have been good. I don’t want to think about resource management, and health when I play CoD. A proper cover system would have been nice. Jake campaign is was an automatic fail when it used scripted events for it.

Personally, I felt like the controls and mechanics they gave you were more than enough to deal with anything in all the campaigns. But I can totally understand why some people wouldn’t.

Besides maybe the Jake stuff I totally agree about everything else you said on the campaigns.

Jake, his voice actor and Mercenaries mode were the best things about RE6. :relieved:

Lol, they waited six extra months for this. What was Capcom even doing.

Hmmm I refunded this game day before it came out without knowing any of this because none of my friends were planning to get it day 1.

Good call.
