Fans of franchise should have know the deal, Shenmue was always intended to have several chapters. This has always been made clear. Not sure why people thought part 3 was the end. Did people want the third game to be the last season of Game of Thrones.
Everybody knew Suzuki’s original plan for Shenmue was like 5 or 6 games, so this was only a third chapter in an ongoing story. Might’ve been slightly condensed due to a possibility that Shenmue 4 might not happen
