Video Game General 6.5: Now with more surprise mechanics

So you get a cash pay out boost after you’ve already bought all the characters huh?

Basically each character levels up by doing stuff whether it’s the single player modes or online. You get fight money every level up. Pretty easy to do simple stuff get them to level 10 and that’s 10,000 fm iirc.

10 characters to level 10 is only enough fm for 1 character…thats gotta level off pretty fast no?

Most of that is straight costumes dude. By the time S2 and s3 passes dropped base game and previous passes went down significantly.

Edit: and I did note the cost of SFIV with bundles.

You level indefinitely. I’d say it only slows down after level 50.

Yea but you need more exp per level correct? So leveling from 10 to 20 is probably not as fast as from 1 to 10 right? Same for 20 to 30. The grind gets longer and thus the pay put technically worth less of your time per level up, no?

It’s actually really fast if you just do the characters arcade or tutorial then a run on easy survival. That alone would get you to about 20-34?

Like I own every character besides Abigail and Blanka. I don’t think it took long to get them all around level 45-50 just for the fm. But I concede everyone may not like doing the single player modes or like playing online.

indeed and there are much more missing on that list. again, stuff gets cheaper later on as a comparison doesnt count. usf4 with 44 chars, even now more then sfv has for less then one costume pack of sf5 these days…is that the kind of comparison you want to have when we discuss about this kind of topics?

again, when you wanted to have all the content from sfv you have/had to pay much more then during sf4 days. thats a fact. you might not care about costumes and stages ect but thats up to you but has nothing to do with the topic itself which is price comparison of two products.

How fast is fast? How much time are we talking spent playing stuff you probably don’t care about to earn enough digital skrilla to get all the shit?

Edit: Naw wait not all the shit. Just all the characters?

I feel like you can do the short little arcade (2-4 matches) and easy survival in 10 mins or less for each character.

Hell I don’t care bout those modes either. I just did it for the fm. You can easily grind each character online and level them up that way c

I just keep seeing the word grind…

Anyway I liked physical releases of big revisions. They where easier and cleaner and simpler to deal with and preserved the history of the game. Maybe I’m an old fucked on this one but I’ll take that L if that is the case.

Wait a second… so theoretically you can just play the game and generate fight money to pay for the extra content like characters and stages and costumes? Without spending any extra real money?

Yeah actual characters and balance changes are the content. Costumes and stages don’t fall under that criteria for me. That’s just extras. And again you still account for the fact that characters and stages can be bought with fm.

No bullshit I own every stage with fight money. :man_shrugging:t4:

Yes you can. Back when I played the grind was unbearable. Characters where like 100k and the payout for a win was like 20 Bison Bucks.

No shit? I remember having to pay extra money every time a new edition of SFIV came out. With SFV I can just play the game after buying it and not need to spend on anything other than cosmetics?

To me, that’s a way better system.

Or it would be if the game didn’t suck donkey balls.

Yeah but after the nerfs to FM it’d take you about five years of daily play.

I remember I wanted to go for the sfv platinum. The survival mode trophies made me not bother, combined with the nerfed FM it made gaining a million FM or whatever the trophy requirement was basically nigh impossible without committing 1000s of hours to that shiiiet.

I have to check, but I think I hit that 1million FM trophy, unintentionally too.

Granted it’s probably no where as hard now as it was on release since there’re more characters.

in theory, maybe but i will bet with you that 99,9% of the people even here on the forum didnt managed to unlock them all by just playing. content of a game is whats in the game…just because you strip a part out which you dont care about doesnt mean its not ingame content.

for that “you can get them for free” f2p style system they charged other people for much more money and they payed it and continue to do so. why do you think capcom is focusing so much on the costumes…because no one is buying them? a lot of people care about these kind of things or to have a complete product called theirs. its a simple f2p game system they use while still charging for money for the base game…
