Video Game General 6.5: Now with more surprise mechanics

Let’s not forget Iwata taking a 50% pay cut when Nintendo had that shitty year…so his employees can still make a living.

Meanwhile Activision’s CEO gets a big raise…announced profits made…then lays off a bunch of their workers.

I have to say that i am pleasently surprised that a Studio under Activision actually listens to what the player base asks.

With this new patch they added the ability to change the engine class of your char.

Previously to this patch, the game was like in the classic CTR, where every char had their stats assigned in accordance to 4 different type of stats.

The problem was that at high level outside of speed and maybe acceleration, everything else was just useles, specially because the stats are basically a lie, since what is show in screen is not real.

Which made a lot of chars to go unused since they were part of the trash stats categories.

But now you can select the type of engine class you want to play, and they rebalanced the classes, plus added a new one that is between acceleration and speed.

Add that so far, they have keep doing an stellar work with each GP adding new batches of free content.

Although i am sure that thing wouldnt last after the december GP, lol.
I have this feeling that Activision will force beenox to start charging for each GP as if it was a season pass like in fartnite and apex.

Holy shit that is a lot of stuff

And unlike some people will want you to think, the suposed mtx are (for now) like if they didnt exist.
By just playing 1 hour each day online you always make enough to buy everything in the store and in the GPs.
Specially on weekends wher you earn double money.
By week 2 of the GP you have usually unlocked everything within the GP unlockables and bought everything in the Pit Store.
And very likely be part of the 5% of each category so you also unlock the special reward

So here an excerpt by Retro RGB on the video

Back in July, a post on psx-place claimed to have found the real cause of the PS3’s YLOD: The “tokin” capacitors that filter power for the main chips inside the PS3. Displaced Gamers, as always, has done an excellent job both articulating the problem and asserting that it might be a fix, not the fix.

All these years, people assumed the problem was the same as the Xbox 360: Lead-free solder on the CPU and GPU. While that might still be part of the problem, the capacitors will deserve equal attention. I’m hoping to have more experts in the gaming community test this fix and help get more data out there. Sadly, there’s still plenty of “reballing” scam services out there, like the one I encountered a few years ago and I hope more info and research will point people to the real reballing services and honest shops that will properly repair your PS3.

So basically there some bad SMD capacitors that is the primary problem of the YLOD and not the CPU or the solder balls on the CPU.

I fixed my YLOD a couple months ago on PS3 by using a heatgun and replacing the thermal paste with some arctic silver. I hadn’t played my PS3 in probably 4 years and wanted to play some Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds and after 1 round of golf I got the damn YLOD. I couldn’t get the game out even so I was determined to fix it and it was actually easier than expected. Taking the damn PS3 apart was the hardest part.

Well, Japanese CEO’s tend to do that, it wasn’t because Iwata was salt of the earth.

The heat gun heat gets the bad capacitors to function for a little while, then the caps return to their original state.

It is been a while (over 10 years lol) since i did some circuit work.
But i think is worth the chance to revive my old ps3

Gonna hunt down for the stuff i need

My PS3 is still working but it sounds like a jet engine. I definitely need to clean up the dust and replace the thermal paste. It’s the old 80 gig and I want to hold on to it.

To each their own, but making roll and jump 2 different buttons just seems excessive, jumping out of crouch would be cool, but wouldn’t really help it’s not like standing up for 1 frame would be that much slower anyways. If I have any complaints it’s normal mode being slightly easier than I would have liked, granted it is definitely a challenge you will die at least a few times, but it isn’t quite oppressively demoralizing as the Contra series is known to be, also limited spawns is dumb. I get why they did it to stop farming lives, but infinite spawns is just a Contra staple that forces the player to always be on guard, also not being able to drop down ledges is dumb, there was 1 boss fight where being able to would have made it so much easier and less clunky, but the dodge roll kind of negates the need to avoid shit via dropping down anyways.

I read a review saying dodge roll has no invincibility so decided to test it out…yeah I can roll through projectiles so this “critic” is wrong lol. Speaking of dodge roll I’m currently playing Enter The Gungeon on my switch and it is twin stick shooter HEAVEN also everything is bullet themed.

I just encountered some spider enemy that shoots webbing on the floor, I found some jetpack item that lets me hover over the ground and the flame from my jetpack exhaust lit the ground webbing on fire creating a trail that lead back to the spider and killed it HOLY FUCK this game is ill.

@Million-X if you haven’t played it get on it now I think Geometry Wars 2 may have finally been dethroned as GOAT twin stick shooter if the rest of the game is this fun.
