It seems like gamers aren’t the only ones disinterested of Epic Games. In a recent interview with MCV, Bandai Namco Europe’s Herve Hoerdt (SVP of marketing) stated that the company is not interested in the exclusivity deals that Epic Games offers. “Their interest is, if I’m correct, exclusivity and that is not in our vision,” said Hoerdt.
“So for instance, I don’t see any point of putting Tekken 7 on Epic Store,” Hoerdt said. “We want our content to be available for as many fans as possible.” While Hoerdt is excited about the reach Epic has thanks to the success of Fortnite , he believes Bandai Namco needs to do what is best for the PC platform. That means remaining on Steam in the face of Epic’s growing numbers. “The main focus for us is the consumer and the brand. And for each brand we decide what’s the best way to satisfy the consumer and to engage the widest audience possible.”
If Epic Games were to change its tune, then Bandai Namco might consider doing business with it. “I don’t think we’ll deal with Epic in the short term, while we have this strategy,” Hoerdt stated. “But of course, if they’re open, we’ll go there.” The rest of the interview goes over how subscription services and streaming might be potential threats to Bandai Namco’s business model, though it is abundantly clear that Bandai Namco wants its games to have the largest reach as possible.
Just picked up my copy of Metal Wolf Chaos XD. Forgot I had it on preorder. Psyvariar is supposed to come in next Tuesday.
Having second thoughts on Death Stranding. Saw the trailer where the VGA guy was in the game and it was definitely weird. Maybe I’m being too harsh? Kojima’s games are pretty divisive so maybe it’s that.
I still have the DS zero connection, but I’ll be double dipping to support the series and have it in a more convenient format (legally). Z3 is among the high marks of 2d, IMO. Also haven’t really played the zx games- was initially turned off with all the babbling/story crap.
I read a little bit more into it. While it’s coming out on all systems the physical edition of the collection will be exclusive through GameStop (the Collection was announced at GameStop’s annual expo where all the store managers and above go to talk to vendors and talk to corporate about what’s coming down the pipeline)
I actually used to want that game simply for the bus part as the interior is an mci bus. But I remember not remotely being interested in getting a sega cd.
If the sega cd would have gotten a decent conversion of super turbo or even nc with better sound than genesis I may have gotten one.
Metal Wolf is awesome. Don’t know why this wasn’t released here as it fits the “America Fuck Yeah!” motif to a T. Game plays fine. The boost is on the left stick, but I didn’t check to see a button config. being available.
The weapon switching is one of the best, only being bested by Vanquish.
I almost bought the those MM collections for my DS several years back. Hopefully the emulation is up to snuff as I’ll be looking to nab these on the Switch.
Speculation is that it came out around 9/11 And involves you blowing up tons of American looking troops, American Tanks, Humvees, yada yada while also pretty much mocking American Patriotism. Was just kind of bad timing.
It is weird that those Disney titles will be rereleased. It begs the question of whether they will be emulations with filters slapped on or full blown remakes?
The originals I experienced were a bootleg demaster of the SNES version of Aladdin for NES and NES version of Lion King. They were both hard as hell. I only played Lion King to the second level as a guest at some relative’s home and can’t see myself playing it again. I can however see myself replaying both versions of Aladdin. The codes given at the end of every level in the SNES demake were the only thing that made the extremely difficult magic carpet sections bearable. If this is a remake I wonder if they will feature checkpoints.
The master system version of Aladdin is pretty amazing though (even despite it being a running simulator for the most part). I am a bit surprised it is getting ignored.
I’m curious as who will develop and publish the remakes. Virgin Interactive published Lion King and Genesis Aladdin. Capcom developed and published SNES Aladdin.
I think it kinda depends on who have the game rights.
Like even if Capcom no longer have the rights to Duck Tales, they still own the Source Code to the NES game and the Remake, Disney have to ether get Capcom back on, or purchase those from Capcom to do another Release of that particular Duck Tales game.
Virgin Interactive kinda got split up between several other now Defunct companies, Westwood, Interplay. I Just Hope it does not involve EA, if it does I am not buying it even if Capcom taking the Helm here.
