So it was confirmed in the direct…you need NSO in order to share stages.

Damn I was hoping to hold off on buying SMM2 until a price drop…
I am beyond hype.
They are getting more aggressive with pushing NSO. That ticket deal isnt bad for people who prefer digital and then buying the game and essentially getting NSO for a year at 10 bucks is pretty solid.

First party Nintendo titles next to never drop unless they become Selects.
First party switch titles have actually dropped in price quite a bit over it’s lifespan. Odyssey, BOTW, and Splatoon 2 were 45 bucks for the longest time. Probably still are.
There is the rare Black Friday / whenever sales but yeah, the drop off isn’t by much. Still, I have a back catalog at home of games and a Mario Maker is not going to help me finish it.

Though from what it seems (though I have no evidence of this) that they have worked out some sort of deal with Walmart. Cause all their new releases have been $10 off MSRP. Sometimes more if you shop online. IE: in-store Pokemon Let’s Go is $49 and some change. However, on their website it’s $44 and some change.
It’s just something I’ve noticed when shopping online from games and what I seen when I go to Walmart.
Edit: it seems to be happening at other big box stores but not in the same capacity as Walmart.
Maybe Nintendo lowering MSRP on select titles to make it easier to take the plunge and purchase the hardware? That’d be my best guess.
They have been on sale on amazon as well as various points. Idk about right now though.
I’m aware. I use to buy all my games exclusively on amazon when they had the 20% off preorder discount. Now I get all my games through work. I don’t get release date delivery unfortunately but I get enough off to make it worth having to wait a few days.
Anyways, A lot of the launch or near launch titles you can’t even get new on amazon anymore. Well, not directly from then. Even then they’re still $58-59 and some change.
Also, Nintendo just confirmed on Social Media that Koji Kondo is composing all the music for SMM2
