I think Capcom learned their lesson, doubt we’ll see a DmC2

No, they do (sometimes it takes more times than others). But they always find a way to fuck up in some way.
That would probably be true, where it not for one thing. Gamers are fickle and have the memory of pro wrestling announcers. You present DmC2 with a new face (meaning within the dev team) that have not soured their relationship with the fanbase like Tameem has, and present it with more “purist friendly” features and you easily have a second shot at it.
Although, DMC5 would be the easy thing to do, so that would be preferable.
Yea they could “rebrand” DmC2 and perhaps save it, by why bother when they could just make DMC5 and save themselves the trouble?I mean is there really a logical reason to work over time trying to make the DmC brand into something when marketable, when they could bypass that hassle and just go with the brand that people already like and want more of? Not even coming at this as a hater (I didn’t like DmC but I also moved on shortly after it released) what’s the point working twice as hard to turn a brand around when you already have a version of that people already like? That seems silly.
Thing is… even if they do make a Devil May Cry 5… where would it go story-wise?
Another prequel? Going back and playing as Sparda himself? Continuing from where the story of DMC4 ended? Dedicate an entire game a non-Dante character?
Just make a sequel to DMC4. Like what do you mean where would they go? It’s fiction, they can go anywhere. Just make up a new threat, a new set of bosses, a bunch of new weapons and stages and dev it.
You know what I take back my earlier post. This sounds like something Capcom would do. Smh
I mean that they have a lot of options
- Go to the very beginning of the story and make a game about Sparda (which I mentioned above)
- Go to the gap between DMC3 and DMC1 (AFAIK they don’t pick up right after another)
- Go to the gap between DMC1 and DMC2
- Continue onwards from DMC4
Or hell, do a timeskip from DMC4 into whatever the time period they want
Yea…exactly. They can go anywhere. There are tons of options, they are hardly starving for ideas here.
Personally I;d like something after DMC4 (and ignores DMC2) because I’d like the narrative to move forward instead of just sitting in a regressive soup of filling in gaps that don’t really need to be filled in, and would like to see Nero, Lady and Trish return as well, but I wouldn’t be upset if they did some kind of prequel or interquel or whatever. I just want more fun DMC style fun, more weapons and new bosses and I’d like Dante to headline the product. If they do those things I’m not too terribly concerned with what they do narrative speaking. I mean there is a ton of stuff I want them to do that they will probably never do (Bring back the creep and atmosphere of DMC1, bring back Critical kills from DMC1, bring back the sick as fuck menues from DMC1…just bring back a ton of shit from DMC1) but I don’t have to have it.
I’d say the only thing I don’t really feel the need for on that list is a Sparda game. It would more then likely ruin the mystique of the character because it’s hard to live up to that kind of hype, and because I want to play as Dante more. shrug

DmC is the best reboot in the history of reboots and a million times better then that DMC otaku trash with super gay hair.
Fine I’ll have to try harder next time. Seriously though I don’t think DmC was that bad but it wasn’t a good DMC game. If it was its own seperate IP I think people would have been more open minded.
But it does have DMC in the title, and that comes with certain expectations that game failed to meet for the majority of the fanbase.

and yes it was honestly fine as a standalone game. Dante was alright after the first mission, and I actually really liked how this Dante and Vergil ended up becoming enemies as opposed to the main game where im still not sure why they’re fighting.
