New injustice be like
As for being like the gem system, i think that if this is done right, it can add a lot of fun to the game.
Just look at Chaos Breaker and their item system. It doesn’t detract from the game and actually adds more depth to it.

Does it matter if they are? As long as their shit is selling, I don’t think they care all too much.

"We are super excited to announce the latest installment of the Injustice franchise, Injustice 2, coming to Playstation 4 in 2017. As the sequel to 2013’s Injustice: Gods Among Us, we wanted to come out swinging. We’re doing all of the things you’d expect from a sequel. We’re adding new characters, new environments, and we’re taking environment destruction and interaction to the next level.
But we didn’t want to stop there. At NetherRealm, we always want to make games that are fun, challenging and innovative. We strive to give players a level of control that makes playing our games a truly personal experience. For that reason, we have introduced a brand new Gear System, allowing players to build their own version of Superman, their Batman and ultimately, their Injustice Universe.
**The Gear System uses RPG-like mechanics to reward you with loot drops every time you play the game. With each loot drop, you will earn character-specific gear to outfit and power up your roster – changing not only the look of each character, but your fight strategy and your personal approach to every match. **As you gear up your characters, you’re building a roster of DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains that reflects your choices, and your preferences, which can be vastly different than your opponents. A few play sessions in, you can expect your Aquaman to look and play different than anyone else’s Aquaman you may come across.
And of course we’re going to continue to tell the epic story of the Injustice Universe. When last we saw them, Superman was imprisoned in a Red Sun prison cell, while Batman was continuing the good fight against the forces that would see Superman’s tyranny back in power. Where do we go from here? And what new characters will join the fight? Of course you’ll have to play the game to find out. And we can’t wait for you to get your hands on this game. We’re excited to see your vision come to life on screen.
Stay tuned! We’ll continue to drop information as we lead up to our launch in 2017."

They want this travesty to be competitive, get da fuck outta here with that shit.
Its the SFxT’s Gem System all over again lol

It could be but I’m going by Netherrealm Studios track record when it comes to competitive play which hasn’t been all too impressive. . .

I’m in SRK. this is the place for me to express opinion about how developers make decision which negatively impact sections of the community regardless of whether or not I like their games.

That’s going to be the case though no matter what they do. In this case they’re going with the route that sells the most units.
If the FG Market is going to become a bit crowded again, it makes sense that someone would decide to corner the casual market. Especially since as SRK has proven time and time again (whether right or wrong and that’s somewhat subjective), there’s very little respect for NRS Games as serious FG ventures to begin with.
I might the only person who wants more Dragon quest 11, at least dragon quest heroes 2 is going to have online multi play

There’s very little of it because NRS hasn’t been serious about for a while. When they do work hard to make the game more polished like they did with MKX they then take 3 steps back with this stuff.
Besides, one more time:
I don’t come to SRK to care about the people that aren’t remotely close to caring what happens to this community. Casuals can love this shit all they want. If I wanted to get hype about it, I’d be in gamefaqs not here.

I didn’t tell you to get hype about it. Just not care and move on. NRS has already decided they don’t care about us, so why care about them?
We have a plethora of fighters to play now and in the future. I think we can live without another NRS offering.
Why do you assume that the game wouldnt have competitive value, or that the system couldnt work in tournamenr settings.

Past implementations of similar systems.
Think Soul Calibur IV’s thing, or Smash’s custom characters (the stuff that affects stats, not just the custom moves). Or even SF x TK’s gems (ignoring the pay2win factor). The logistics alone would probably be a nightmare.
If they do something reasonable with it then that’d be nice, but I’m not holding my breath on it being a competitively viable option.

You have to unlock equipment in an RPGish system.
Considering how much time shit like that takes to do and how much they’ll probably tack on so that you get most of that unlocked from the get go, this all looks beyond fucking shitty.

So there you go. Not gonna say I was impressed by the footage shown but the team did seem to improve the game in pretty much every level. I’m not sure if they showed actual gameplay footage (i.e. as in retail version) but considering it looks overall rather close to GTAV level of visuals, I’d say the graphics looked real. So there’s that too

Plaid_Unicorn:
Because it’s made by NRS
I won’t say that its entirely fair. They got hilariously ambitious with the 3 fighting styles and made it work.
This though, screams of all the added stuff that’s getting thrown at gamers. Its going to be 60 dollars with a 30 dollar season pass to unlock shit. Now fighting games are gonna be on that CoD/Battlefield trip where you spent money at the beginning just to have extra shit so you don’t have to unlock it.
This all blows ass.
Injustice 2 will still have better fights then BvS?

Well that just goes without saying.
Man, DC characters can’t catch a break right now…
