Video Game General 3.0 - You know what should come back? Pre-rendered backgrounds!

…yes?

You generalized that “all Bethesda games are shit”, that includes shit they directly created as well as shit published under them. Not sure what’s so hard to process about that.

Well that’s depressing.

Oh you two, that was a great act, you should take that show on the road.

In response to someone asking about Fallout and it’s quality, so clearly I’m referring to games Bethesda develops. Context man, come on. If they had asked about DOOM, then I’d be refer to id Software since they are the developers of DOOM. If Bethesda didn’t develop it then it’s really not a Bethesda game now is it?

I don’t know where all the rage is coming from, lol. You used Sega as an example but I never said those games make Bethesda “amazing”. That’s not the first post you’ve made saying “all Bethesda games are shit”, if you generalize a developer and every single game they release whether it was made by Bethesda Softworks or just published by them, then yeah I disagree with that statement. -shrug-

I’m not generalizing Bethesdas whole games list, only the ones they personally develop because I’m clearly talking about Bethesda developed games, I was even responding to someone asking about a Bethesda developed game, it even came after me specifically telling him not to get a PS3 version of Fallout because it runs like shit. I don’t understand where the lack of understanding is coming from here. Everyone else understood what I was talking about.

As for the “rage” (mild anger) I hate Bethesda and I get tired of people singing their praises for releasing glitchy, broken pieces of shit that are only good because the community cares enough to fix the stuff Bethesda is too fucking lazy to fix themselves. Everyone took a white hot shit on Sonic Boom but no one says shit when Bethesda developed games run just as badly EVERY TIME.

Yea DOOM, Dishonored, Wolfenstein, and Quake are great games, a lot of that has to do with the fact that Bethesda doesn’t fucking touch them, they are developed by other studios like id Software. I’m leaving RAGE out of the list because while I like it, it has an ass load of problems and I wouldn’t recommend it to someone unless they where specifically looking for something like it and had already played just about everything else.

But hey just for you, since we’re friends, I’ll amend my statement.

Did you guys know that Mad Max: Fury Road was inspired by RAGE?

True story.

I did not know that. Makes sense tho, RAGE is basically Mad Max and the wastelanders and the war boys have a lot in common…mainly being fucking crazy.

Source? Interested in reading/hearing that little story.

I can’t tell if you took me seriously.

Oh uh…I did…>.>

woosh

I misunderstood your post then, and that’s my bad. It’s 3 in the morning here, gimme a break lol.

And while this is kind of a totally different discussion, I will always disagree about Fallout being a crap game. While I can’t deny Bethesda games have a tendency to litter their titles with weird graphical hiccups, they have an unprecedented knack for creating these unbelievably massive worlds filled with attention to detail and crazy amounts of content. I mean it would probably take close to a lifetime to explore every nook and cranny of the worlds between Fallout 3 and New Vegas. Yes they’re not the prettiest, smoothest titles out there. Fans of the series look past that and get lost in the amazing world they’ve created as well as the great story they’ve managed to tell. You can forge your own path and have permanent effects on the world around you in ways I’ve never seen executed by another game.

It just seems like a lot of people subscribe to this stigma that Fallout is an unplayable mess, when I can’t even begin to detail why that’s so far from the truth. I have over 500 hours in the PS3 version of New Vegas, and while I have seen a few glitches here and there, most of them are just plain silly. I have yet to come across something that actually ruined or lessened my gameplay experience.

Inb4 someone posts about how poop the combat is in Fallout games, ultimately missing the entire point.

Fallout 3 crashes my PS3 after running between half an hour to 45 minutes. Sorry but to me that is unplayable shit. I wouldn’t consider it a reason to write off the whole company (In house work) if all their games didn’t have game breaking glitches in them, someone else in here said they where almost unable to finish Skyrim because the door to the last boss was glitched out and wouldn’t open and they where only able to proceed cuz they managed to brute force their way (AKA probably glitch) past the door. Like come on. I’d be fine to call my problem an isolated incident except people report these problems with their games across multiple platforms, and across multiple titles. The problems may not be as bad as mine, but they are a consistent issue with Bethesdas games so I refuse to give them a pass. I’m not even talking about the quality of combat or world they build (I thought FO3s world was boring as shit, but that’s a personal issue) I’m talking about their ability to run in a consistent manner. It is common knowledge that if you want to play their games you should probably play them on PC because the community for these games fix the problems Bethesda ignores. There are too many reports out there about it to consider it an isolated issue.

It’s like with Batman Arkham Origins. I have yet to this day to run into a single glitch in that game. Not one, it runs fine for me. But enough people reported having serious issues with it across multiple platforms that I can’t ignore that it existed. It clearly did and it was clearly unacceptable, just like the Arkham Knight PC issues. I wish people would hold Bethesda to the same standards.

I did think FO3s combat was pretty fuckin poop to, but again that’s a personal issue, I’m talking about objective issues with performance.

Like i said, i love Fallout NV, but i had to drop the game altogether because it was unplayable, i am not talking about the glitches that made a lot of side quests unplayable/unwinnable wich i had as well, i am talking about massive slowdowns that simply made it impossible to play, the game freezing every 45 to 60 mins and that without mention that in some cases it corrupted my savefile after the freezing forcing me to pick a previous save.

The only reason why i kept playing it so long before stopping was because i was really enjoying it.
My best friend who gave me NV had the same problems with both 3 and NV, he was more stubborn so he was able to finish both of them.

You know, the weird thing is a lot of these glitches seem like easy fixes that could be solved with a patch or two but they don’t even do that. Not to say that they should be releasing games with those kinds of game breaking misfunctions in the first place, but it’s like once Bethesda releases a game they could care less about fixing problems many of their fans complain about.

It’s like with the PS3 version of Skyrim. I remember one of the huge problems with that game being how your save file would increase in size MASSIVELY every time you saved the game, and the bigger it got the crappier your game would run no matter what you were doing. Now obviously not everyone had this issue, but it was obviously a problem and Bethesda, even years after release, has done nothing about it.

Yea see that shit is fucking ridiculous.

It’s called being a shit company and having a bunch of people who defend the fuck out of you for releasing broken shit.

Why fix anything when no one calls you out on it? Everyone knows their shit comes out broken and everyone still buys the fuck out of it.

At this point I’m convinced that I’m probably just lucky when it comes to games, seeing as how I’m one of the only people on this site to have gotten a working copy of Fallout 3 and NV, Skyrim AND Assassin’s Creed: Unity B)

My pc copy of Arkham Knight worked fine. Too bad the game itself was horseshit.

Actually, I’m curious to know why you don’t like the game. I haven’t played it, but I did at least enjoy 1 and 2 even if I wasn’t really crazy about them. Still I’ve been wondering if I should just skip it because it’s probably just more of the same.

From what i hear too much Batmobile.
