Director of Triforce Heroes explains why you can’t play as a female

Every. Time.

I am thinking of a po rant but i can’t quite find the right words.

SMH at the IGN journo implication that a female character would draw a female audience. Who is dumb enough to believe this?

It would be double the assets to create a female body model, so I completely understand……

This one’s easy and can be done in one sentence:

FUCK IGN AND FUCK SJWs.

Bitches love, The Legend of Zelda, they also love Link.

Having a female playable character wouldn’t add any more female audience since all of them are already buying this shit day -100

people care way too much about a virtual character’s junk

Definitely. I rolled my eyes during E3 during the Fallout 4 presentation when the option of a playable female character was cheered. I’m like, you can do that in all the Fallout games. Might as well cheer the for the pep boy too.

Never cared about gender or race in games. All I care about is what my character is capable of.

If only batman was this brutal and efficient instead of allowing insane serial killers the opportunity to kill more.

You know…I can’t help but feel like female characters and by extension women are now being treated like accessories by the SJW types. It’s like having 3D in movies or games having motion controls back when the wii was really popular. In all the discussions of reducing women to objects I can’t think of a better example then so called progressives cheering for female characters like their DLC.

Gender, Race? Psh…

What bonuses/minuses do I get and how it effects my build?

Example
Wait Orcs get a bonus to attack and I making a combat built? I making an Orc Character.
Elves get extra speed and stealth, well I am making a rouge.
Males get a Bonus to Str, Females get a bonus to dex or what ever
Ect, ect , ect…

I once made a Female Cast Ranger in Phantasy Star Online, made her a tiny and as small as possible. Then I gave her one of the Largest guns in the game just for the juxtaposition.
It was like a little girl running around wielding a gun meant for a gundam.

The character sorta looks like this, but only half the height and with a bigger gun. [/details]

Only place I seen people really gave a crap about gender in a game (that isn’t Anita Sarkeesian) is in Pokemon, and that just for pokemon breeding/raising.

I like how they miss the point while trying to enforce their agendas like if it has some positive outcome.
Changing Link to male no longer becomes Link, but rather a different character all together. But the problem here is changing the character to female, thinking that’ll help with the female audience. How do they know that majority may actually like Link as being male? To simply give the option will also destroy that immersion. That’s like changing Jill from Resident Evil to a male character to appeal to the male audience, or Aya from Parasite Eve to a male to help get the male attention. Not to mention, it also re-enforces the Blue is for Male, and Pink is for Female type deal. Funny to hear them against this type of judgement, but when it comes to altering a character’s gender for the sake of wider audience, they come off as very hypocritical.

Not to mention:

I dunno, people are retarded.

I don’t know if there are any studies to either support or refute this but I don’t think simply having female characters available is enough to pull in more women. The fact that the majority of mobile game/social media game consumers are women already speaks to the type of gaming experience women prefer. Also as pozer said it is kind of funny to see how the so called progressive Anita types are so strongly against gender norms and stereotypical views, yet when it’s convenient have no problem checking boxes along the gender column.

Eh that logic doesn’t really work for this because Link is already multiple different characters. Jill is a specific person, Aya is a specific person, so yea changing them wouldn’t make any sense. Having an incarnation of Link in whatever timeline be a female wouldn’t bother me. Not changing it wouldn’t bother me either.

There is no “logic” when it comes to that statement. The designer stated how the character came about and why the character is male.
The alter the universe to and force rules to be change can be very detrimental to the story.

No one plays Zelda for the story, though

Story is necessary in all forms of art, whether it be good or bad, a universe is needed to be created so that these characters can be brought to light.
I can go on another 2000 words as to why this is important, but I’d rather not. Instead, look up how characters are drawn and why they are drawn the way they are. Their gender, art traits, personality, all reflect on this. The term “logic” doesn’t fit anywhere in this, regardless of multiple arcs and characters his persona filled.

And trust me, you can definitely tell when a something drastic has been altered in the universe of said world.

"There’s this kingdom, an event happens, and the king needs heroes. So, he puts out a call for heroes to gather and one of those is this guy Link. He sees this audition, basically, ‘Heroes needed; apply here.’ And, that’s the start of his adventure.

The story calls for this sort of legend/prophecy where heroes will come together to help solve a problem. And in that, they are male characters."

It’s not like there is some deep reason why they are all male. It’s just that they decided they’d all be male. I don’t have an issue with it. I can’t tell if it’s just one Link or three Links though. If it’s just one then yea it makes sense why there aren’t playable females cause it’s just one guy split into three. If it’s Link with two other Link wannabes then they could change gender if they wanted. I don’t feel they are obligated to do so though.

Lol people thought the Wii U Link could possible be female just from the reveal video, they wouldn’t have to adjust much at all with the design. As the designer stated, it’s not like Link is some very masculine looking guy for the most part.

But whatever, it isn’t as important or disappointing as the IGN guy is trying to make it seem.

I care about gender and race in video games. I just don’t care about changing people’s art to do so.

The street fighter cast wouldn’t be as fun if all of them were middle aged white dudes. The fact that they are all different makes them more memorable. Most of this site can probably name all street fighter characters including the EX ones.

I’m not for changing the way people create their stuff. I just see whats interesting and buy it. If i really wanted something i’d honestly try and attain a skillset and try to make it myself.

You can’t deny that middle aged white men are getting fucking annoying. Its like the anime MC syndrome where al of them look the same. Its so boring and default and tiresome that I honestly avoid any games with the middle aged white men with gunz. I get legit nauseaus playing those games now so i stick to my JRPGs, WRPGs, FGs, and occacianol adventure action titles like bayonetta or zelda.

LOL wtf going on with the destiny game? I’m not into it and even I can see the train wreck

then they adding it in as separate DLC because fans complained ?

a game inspired by star wars? well… " use the force Luke Smith and wake the fuck up "
