Video Game General 2.0: Yo Dawg I Heard You Like Remasters And Ports

I’d rather 720P and 60FPS.

Pressing back is basically the block butto. Smash needs a block button due to how movement is.

Im not sure if niggas legit don’t like block buttons, or they wanna be elitists about not playing games with one…

There is one real thing that block button takes away from 2d fighting games and is the cross up, some people don’t like that

Yep, but then the presence of the block button in MK is kind of needed, due to the way how some of the moves would be unreadable crossups with hold back to block (Scorpion, Mileena, Ermac and Kung Lao teleport attacks come to mind).

So… I had to watch the conferences one day later (i only managed to watch the Nintendo Digital Event “live”)… I’m pretty disappointed about this year E3… Going in order.

Microsoft: Probably the second best conference. Not a big fan of Microsoft, but well, some games managed to catch my attention, and the Tomb Raider 201X managed to catch my attention and get me hyped.

EA: I was almost falling asleep during this conference. Nothing really new or interesting. I was hoping in ONE single thing: a trailer/gameplay video of Mirror’s Edge 2. They delivered a “Dev Diary”. Honestly, let them go to hell.

Ubisoft: Best conference of the E3 2014. Usually, i’m not really hyped for Ubisoft conferences at E3, but this year, they managed to keep me hooked and interested. Tom Clancy’s The Division, The Crew, Valiant Hearts, Rainnbow Six: Siege, Far Cry 4. If we ignore for a second all the casual crap (Just Dance and Shape Up), they delivered. I just hope The Division and Valiant Hearts manage to keep it up and do not end disappointing when they come out.

Sony: Vita means “No Games”. They pretty much confirmed that Vita is dead to them. Not really interested in PS4, so the various announcements mean nothing to me.

Nintendo: Digital Event only, but man i was disappointed. No new 2D Metroid, nothing really “new”. Ok, Bayo 1 included in Bayo 2, new Zelda, new Yoshi’s “Epic Yarn”… But 3DS support… Meh. And last, but not least… SMT IV FINALLY coming to Europe… DD Only. I don’t have problems with DD, but come on… All this waiting, all this miscommunication and all we get is this? I’m disappointed. Happy to finally have the game, but disappointed. While fucking shit-tier games like Persona Q get Full Retail treatment, SMTIV is relegated to eShop only. Way to kill the series in Europe, Atlus.

Square-Enix: SMH…

True, the block button allows certain things to be done, but takes away others, it is also why you have chip damage on normals and why you can’t throw break while blocking or in other games with throw button be throwable while crouch blocking

In this post-2009 world, any non-Capcom fighting game gets shit on, no matter the sales, history, or quality of the fighter.

And that’s why I don’t like when people start whining about a block button. It’s so obvious that they are in this SF (particularly SFIV) mentality, without looking at or thinking about other liabilities a game will give you for having to actively guard. The arguments usually devolve into “Wah, I need mah canned crossup setups!”

Block button stops the flow of defence/offence balance

Which makes sense in a sword fighting game. The special case of VF is it has A Lot of simplified variables so the flow is always intuitive

I need a drink, I can’t handle this shit.

How so?

If we Full Schedule a Hitbox controller, the direction “downback” essentially becomes a “block” button in a neutral game. To turtle up, you hold “block”. To move forward and initiate attack, you have to let go of “block.” It’s the same in both scenarios.

SC at its core is just like any other 3D fighter: control of space, baiting, and punishing, with a step system not unlike Tekken, which doesn’t have a block button.

doesn’t hit boxes alter the flow of game play in a much more drastic way than arcade stick vs pad? the direction buttons on a hit box are all buttons in a horizontal line, the block button on a pad/stick are on the attack side

also soul calibur is different to other fighting games due to the 8 way run and the timing of the attacks having a wider variety than any other fighting game. there are plenty of slow attacks but its accepted because your character is swinging a weapon

i don’t like block buttons. never have. you get used to it but i still don’t like it.
i didn’t like it when it was first introduced back in the day and i still don’t like it now.

So one of the new MKX characters is star platinum

“The Bayo 2 package is shit. Who’s the damned bastard who changed it?”

/Hideki Kamiya

here’s the root

Video games!

I hope Aisha Tyler is the permanent Ubisoft E3 spokesperson; she’s sexy as hell and hilarious to boot.

Robot Chicken shenanigans in Nintendo was awesome  . Loving the Mario Maker and Toad’s explorer adventure game.

How the fuck they go from that… into what looks to be a run of the mill action game with shitty metal?

So they took a year to translate SMTIV from English to English and they won’t even give us a physical release?

I was hype as fuck for that shit but fuck it I ain’t touching that shit now, especially when these fuckers will still probably charge us the price of a full physical release for that bullshit.
