anybody know any good ways to get into video design or know some good websites, because every bit of information i find on this field contradicts each other. Some say college, some say college is a waste of money, some say just get a degree in computer science etc… any help would be appreciated
I’m taking my time to get my BAs in Computer Science: Game Design, which is a major provided in University of California: Santa Cruz.
I’ll say it right now: A job in the game industry is NOT as cool as it sounds (varies on the job I guess).
It’s brutally hard. I’m not a great academic, and a lot of the material covered is difficult. You’d have to be passionate/dedicated to get a degree in Computer Science.
I know i always hear about how hard it is but i have always been pretty optimistic. I believe after all the grindin to learn the tech talk how the software works etc… that my creativity and knowledge of gaming mixed with that information, would come together resulting in me making a great game. What subject would you say you need to excell in to be good at computer science and game design?
