Video Game Confessions

-I remember the first time I got to Carnival Night on Sonic 3. I had trouble with the 2nd Act Boss and was down to like 2 Lives. So I manage to get to the last part of the stage but some how took a wrong turn and ended up on this thing that spins and you bounce up and down on. The rest of the stage was just below so all I had to do was get the right momentum, which I never could do. The clock neared the time over point and that scary music came on. I started crying and running around the house saying help me please. Then I started flipping through all these game magazines I had looking for help, even though Sonic 3 wasn’t in any of them and I knew it. I continued to try and get passed the bouncy thing but failed each time…Then Game Over. I managed somehow to get around the bouncy thing only twice more and got to Ice Cap Zone which was hard as shit and ended up dying in the 2nd Act. Now I watch these Sonic 3 Speed Runs and I’m like WTF…

-Another time was when I first got Prime Time Football: Starring Dieon Sanders. I was super hyped to play but couldn’t figure out how to get out of the settings and options screen. I ended up picking teams, weather etc like 20 times but kept ending up back at the start screen when I press the start game button. I cried through this process for like 10 minutes until I finally figured it out. It was harder than You think it was…Trust Me

You have to go through the barrel trap, there’s no other way around that part of the game as Sonic/Tails.

Really? I could have sworn I’ve seen someone like go under the stage through one of those hidden walk ways, probably a tool assist…

Can You do it without the bouncy bubble? I’ve never seen it done without it…

Sometimes superficial aspects impact how much I like a game more than they should. Case in point, I didn’t much care for the new Bionic Commando, & was ready to write it off like so many others had. But by simply applying the Retro Rad Spencer skin, I immediately found the game more palatable. On the flip side, I consider the Scott Pilgrim game one of the best DLC games around. But I know if all they were to do was replace the SP characters w/ those from River City Ransom or Mighty Final Fight, & kept everything else the same, it’d be one of my favorite games of all time

LATE ASS EDIT: Oh yeah, when considering the actual console features (universal game install, easily-detachable/swappable HDDs, universal custom soundtracks, VGA output that gives me more display options, etc) I actually like the fat 360s more than the PS3. It’s mainly the 1st-party IPs & free online that keep me playing/supporting the PS3 more often.

I hate Metroid Prime and Sonic Adventure 2 Battle is the greatest Sonic game. And GBA Sonic Battle and Advances were fun. Alpha 3 is also my favorite SF then 2i and 3s. Megaman BN3 and 4 was hawt. Castle Crashers is the best Downloadable Game ever made.

You have to press up and down on the Control Pad to get past that damned barrel trap. Never mentioned in the manual, and not obvious either. Definitely a Guide Dang It moment.

 I remember that shit, too. I remember the way I found out how to get past it was MTV was doing a special on Sonic 3 with Bill Bellamy and Sonic in a mascot costume. Bill showed me the way. I was stuck on that part for 2 days before that special.

Cheese and Cream were Broken.

Knuckles can go either way with some exploits, but Sonic/Tails have to go that path so yeah probably tool assist.

It’s possible to do with the water shield but it’s VERY difficult to achieve. It’s gotta be like perfect timing the moment you jump off and try to get under.

Two days? Two DAYS??? I didn’t get past that level for two years, which was when GameFAQs came into existence.

I still like Time Killers. It was a colorful game and very gory, but what I like about it is that it creeped me out with its sound effects, music, and that background with the dead T-Rex. I like Bloodstorm too.

I refused to play FF8 and FF9 because it used the same FF7 graphics engine.

The Carmageddon Demo was way better than the full version. There was way more pedestrians to kill in the demo including tons of old ladys. I think the screams was way louder.

Legacy of Kain started to suck when it went 3D. LoK Blood Omen FTW!!!

I’m still pissed off when they ommitted the dialog where Kain was describing each of the pillar and the name of the guardians in the full version. The Demo had extra dialog.
Example:
Demo version: “The Pillar of Death, protected by the necromancer Mortaneus”, "The Pillar of Balance once defended by Ariel, the Pillars choose their own"
Full version: “The Pillar of Death”, “The Pillar of Balance”

Xbox version of Conker sucks big time. I regretted buying it.

Ninja Gaiden Arcade was way better than Ninja Gaiden NES!

  • I can’t beat the 300 and 400 mission caps in Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and A-2. I’ve tried twice on FFTA-2 and 3 times on FFTA. No dice. I’m always 50 missions shy.

Oh yeah, back on the Phantasy Star front…

-I eventually did go over to “the dark side of the force” with the Gamecube version. I used the max-stat glitch/exploit to make a character that was godlike immediately at level 1. (a FOmar named “Calus”) It was fun for a little while… I beat forest dragon with no weapons or magic… I just karate-chopped it to death. For awhile, it was fun and amusing to be that overpowered. This character wasn’t nearly as fun as my others though since he could not evolve with the level-ups, of course…he already had level 200 stats. I used the max-stat on another character but only to boost him a little bit.

I also duped the hell out of everything once I learned how to do that glitch. This was mainly an insurance policy at first for when I went online with the game, since you could possibly lose everything to certain online technical problems, like the “double-save” fiasco. It was also for online-trading, since I eventually gave up all hope of getting certain items legitimately. The rares were exactly that…ridiculously rare. (e.g.–say there’s a 1 in 500 chance that you see a certain rare monster in a certain area…THEN it’s not exactly guaranteed that it will drop the corresponding rare item when you kill it…sometimes you may just get some junk like a healing item or some meseta[money]. People trying to get certain items legitimately could end up running certain areas 100s of times before getting lucky.) So yeah… I ended up cheating like it was going out of style in that game, and it greatly extended the life of the game for me… I knew that if I lost items and expendable characters online (heh, yeah… I had a memory card specifically for online characters I dubbed; “The Expendables”!)— no big deal since I had dupes of everything offline.

It’s a beautiful metaphor for life, really…cheaters prosper, and will prevail most of the time. They have a relatively easy life, generally speaking. The people who are punished and encounter one hardship after another are those who try to always make responsible, morally “right” decisions and live life honorably.

Oh shit. I was just talking to a friend the other day about how Blood Omen was the shit and how the series sucked after that.

OH SHIT! BLUE RAPPY!!

I never could beat fucking Who Framed Roger Rabbit on the NES. That shit still haunts me to this day :frowning:

  • Back when MvC2 came out on launch, my friend and I would play it as a pass time while we downloaded porn on his computer. Eventually we forgot about the porn and ONLY played that game. We used to hold fake tournaments where you had to create random teams and compete for wins till you were finished with the cast.

  • I think the Sega Dreamcast was the best system ever, and I still do to this day.

  • I play a girl in virtually ever game, especially MGO. If I’m going to stare at an ass for 7 hours it might as well be a chicks.

  • I love Playstation Home and Habbo Hotel

  • I bought Blazeblue on launch played it for about an hour and went out to buy the latest GG installment and played that instead.

  • In my aging gamer phase I have limited my palette quite considerably. I only play shumps, FG’s, and beat 'em ups. Seriously, screw RPG’s, shooters, and action/adventures. The only exception being Metal Gear.

  • I had a friend who convinced me that he resurrected Aeris in FF7 and gave me an elaborate list for the process in doing so. I followed every step to a T and of course nothing worked. I must have tried for 30 hours. It was not until the debug mode that I realized he was full of hokum.

and finally…

  • I met this chap in my father’s old apartment complex after my parent’s divorced and he invited me to come play Sonic 3 at his place. I must have been 10 or so at the time and as we were playing he made a pass at me. I jumped up and and told him to stop and he tried again immediately. I then left upset and distraught mainly 'cause well he made a pass at me and I didn’t have Sonic 3 at my place. I’m happily married and not the least bit homophobic today, but that burns in your memory when your 10. Poor guy, I’m sure he found someone by now.

I beat it, although it was hard as shit even with the Game Genie code for maximum powered slaps. The ending wasn’t worth the time spent.

I never owned a Game Genie. My parents raised me to be a good boy and not cheat, to the effect of me actually getting in trouble for using CHEAT CODES in video games. The Konami code could have gotten me grounded for a month more than likely. How did u beat the end? Just keep hitting the judge with everything you got, or what???

I’ve played BB only an hour or so, as Ragna. I AM STILL waiting for somebody to play with me, or at least show me the ropes. I’ve posted questions in the forums, on different forums, and nobody seems willing to help in any way. Is it only SF that has a helpful online community?

And there is no point in being a dude in a game, when you can be a chick. Scantily clad females ftw

Also, most of what I learned for SF before coming to this forum, was from a japanese exchange student at my friends farm, named Mitsu. I would get him “black porn” which was apparantly quite valuable in Japan, in exchange for assistance with learning to play at a skill level above the shitty one I used to use.

Are you posting in the right place? Dustloop?
