"Videi-gin!" Yun Video Thread

Quote me please. Otherwise shut the fuck up, ok?

Except we have almost twice as many characters now

Yun is op, not as op as vanilla Sagat.

@Demoninja: Gief definitely isn’t 5-5 for Yun, if Gief gets even a 10% life lead he can sit and turtle all day. It’s basically the Gief/Rufus matchup except Yun has a few different tools and is like half the size of Rufus in hitbox form. GJ barely hurts Gief also, even though it still does the same damage as it would on anyone else, on Gief life it’s less significant. Hell, I use Gief to kick streaking Yun’s off the cabinets since everyone is just complaining about Yun (and I hate the Yun mirror). It’s not hard to win with Gief, though it does require a more patient style Gief. Once Yun is cornered by Gief, a good Gief shouldn’t have trouble winning.

@JFord78: I feel that Makoto and Viper shouldn’t be on that list. They both have the tools to end any character really fast, but they don’t have anything that truly can stop Yun in his tracks, especially since they do not benefit from turtling in any way. Also I’m not too sure about Adon either, granted we don’t really have an Adon main over here so I can’t really comment. Although with the wakeup nerf I have found meaty wakeup crossover divekicks to be very effective and all you have to do is make them hesitate or bait out a few dumb dps.

Is there a way to have a mod let everyone edit my opening post to update with more videos? I feel it would be cool if it was open, or just give it over to someone else.

So you have more options to choose from so please stop the complaining.

I haven’t got a chance to see for myself but the majority seem to share the opposite sentiment… and they’re pretty good players

This might be a question that belongs moreso in the Dudley thread, but how do you guys think Dudley fairs against the Twins? I think it might be even. But I haven’t played AE since December of last year. Also what about DeeJay? He’s my secondary and I think he may do good agains the Twins too. I’m asking because I’ve put a lot of time into learning these 2 characters and I really want to keep my circle small with those 2. Like if I run into the Twins I want to know that I can play DeeJay as a counterpick if Dudley gets raped by them.

I think anyone without an inv dp that can be fadc loses to the twins. They are so dangerous with their mixup/pressure options on your wake up.
Opponents have to guess to get out. Guessing wrong leads to big damage. Dudley can guess safely but requires 3 meters to do so.
DJ can use lk jackknife but it can be ducked/thrown. Ex jackknife is better but he can’t fadc.

Yun combo in that vid is not overpowered, remember the ultra is max, besides he will be nerfed in the next update we all know that.

There is no next update, AE will be a new age of SF and it will require a god :badboy:

Hell I’ll take that over getting blown the fuck up for free. Because I feel like Dudley vs Yun is a 5-5 and the winner is pretty much decided by who get’s the first knockdown. I could be wrong though. And with DeeJay vs Yun I feel like it might be slightly in DeeJay’s favor. And this is really only based on myself because I do really well against Rufus with DeeJay so I figure Yun’s Dive Kick is just like Rufus’ only it can’t be done as low to the ground. But once again I could be wrong. Eh, I’ll just have to see when AE comes out.

The main difference between Yun and Rufus outside of command grab is footsies.
Rufus has cr hk at mid range. Yun has st mp, cr mk, st lk, st hp, fwd hp and st hk.
The trade off Yun gets from not being able to due instant dk is the varying angles of his dks.
In this way he can also use dk as a footsie. The video listed at comment #261is a great example of this.
As good as Rufus’s dk is it can’t be used in this way. His jump is too floaty and the angle of his dk too sharp
The only time Rufus and Yun play similar are when they use dk to cross up or throw on their opponents wake up.

Aside from the height restriction and different angled divekicks Yun has, his divekick startup is faster than Rufus’. Rufus’ divekick starts up in 11 frames while Yun’s is 7 frames for L/H divekick and 8 for M divekick (Yang’s divekicks are all 7 frame startup). In addition Rufus’ divekicks do not have any recovery once he’s landed while both twins have 4 frames of recovery on landing. This basically means the twins have trickier divekicks that are slightly harder to react to, but aren’t always safe on block.

Yun does meaty palm to ex shoulder @ about 2:14 against ken midscreen

I see. So what would you do against Yun? I’ve heard from a friend you play at Game Galaxy often and have a really good Dudley. So maybe you’d be able to give me some better insight on what to do against him. If Dudley is even tell why. Same for if he just get raped in the ass, no spit, by Yun. I want to gather as much data as I possibly can on the matchup. I’ve been watching plenty of the A-Cho vids and have seen some Dudley vs Yun matches, and they looked horrid. Idk if those were just bad Dudley’s or Yun is just beast like that in the matchup.

The best advice I can give you is to hover at the edge of his st mp range and look for openings.
Whether forced or punished. Have st hk/st fp on the ready. Use them to punish mp/dive kick attemps.
You can use ex duck to quit nuetral jumps fients from mid range. You have to limit his tools.
You can’t give him palm, dive kick, ex lunge punch, lk/hk/ex up kicks, frame traps, footsies, and command grab.
Break down the list of tools and look at what you can truly limit without exposing yourself completely.

Gotcha, I’ll definitely keep these things in mind. It’s a good thing that I’ve improved my poking/counter poking and pressure game with Dudley. This should be an interesting matchup to say the least. I look forward to it.
