VFrames - A new SFV move list/frame data app

Just downloaded and used the app for the first time. Very nice and sleek UI, frame data is displayed in a very pleasant manner as well. Very good job. Can’t wait to see what the app looks like after sf5 is released!

Just noticed something a bit buggy. If you’re looking at frame data and close the app, when you come back in you are greeted with the character select screen again but no matter which character you then click into you still get the data you were looking at before the close.

I just updated for the latest version.

We should get that fixed! Can you help us reproduce it? When you say “close the app” do you just mean background it? When you reopen it are you doing it from your recent apps or from your app tray?

Once we can reproduce it we should be able to take care of it. Besides this issue, is the app serving your needs?

I tried to reproduce it but couldn’t, if I open the app go to frame date and then the home screen whether I open from the app icon or the multitasking tray it open where the app last was. If I go to frame data and then close the app, and then ext the app from the multi tasking tray it opens on the cahracter select screen and if I go to frame data it is for whatever character I selected.

It’s when I hit the home screenand go back in without closing the app properly. When I come back in I’m still welcomed with character select but it doesn’t get me where I select but where I last was.

This is an odd behavior. I’m also having trouble reproducing this. I think I can have a shot in the dark fix for it though, so I’ll revisit this and PM you when we next update. Thanks again!

Alright, after playing with fire for several weeks, we finally received our rejection from the Play Store! Is this the end?

Turns out, it’s not! We’ve replaced all of the official art our own images made from scratch, and added material design transitions to give the app a cutting-edge touch on newer phones.

Also in that short video, you can see our new way of displaying frame data for alternate modes including V-Trigger and Vega’s multiple stances: changed moves now show up highlighted in red as opposed to replacing the entire list. We feel this will lend itself to faster, more convenient comparisons between "standard’ moves and modified moves.

As Street Fighter V draws near, give VFrames a try and let us know what you think! As always, keep in mind that the pre-release data in the app is incomplete, and we’ll be working closely with you all in a community effort once the game releases to make sure VFrames is the most powerful, accurate, and descriptive tool for you to have on tournament day.

We’ll have more news on upcoming features soon, and will continue to build an iOS app – one which will only be rivaled by its Android counterpart

Do you plan to update this app for when SFV comes out, as frame data will likely change from the last beta phase

Before anything else, we’re players and want the beat tool for ourselves. So yes, we’ll keep it updated!

The recent releases have been primarily to gather feedback on our UI, so when the game comes out we can focus on keeping our data accurate instead of scrambling to have a good UI.

Wow so not Google has an approval process for apps in their store? I haven’t uploaded a new app since the summer time, I didn’t know they have an approval process now like Apple and can now reject stuff? If you don’t mind can you say what the rejection reasoning was? I’d like to know for future apps myself. Feel free to PM me if you don’t want to post it here.

I actually really like the new look haha nice job! Also a fan of how you did the claw on/off thing for Vega. It might be nice to add what crush counters and completely breaking up the differences for specials by button pressed, but I’m assuming the main focus is the frame data.

Any plans for adding a notes section to this app for matchup specifics and such?

It takes 3-4 hours to get approved. I don’t think their approval process is anywhere near as in-depth as Apple’s. For instance, the reason for the recent rejection was roughly “licensed images in promotional materials”. The “promotional materials” (app store listing) hadn’t changed since 3 releases ago, and everything in the promotional materials could also be found in the app. I think it just depends on who is reviewing your app that day.

Those new images are gold haha. I wish I could say more on the matter but I signed papers bro.

Glad you like it! We want to add a “notable normals” category to the move list including crush counters, maybe good anti-airs, etc. There are a few places in the move list where the description breaks up what each strength does, and we’ll hope to have more like this when the game comes out.

Our focus is informativity, not necessarily frame data. We consider things like what types of invulnerability certain moves have, airborne states, etc. just as important and we’ll be adding more of that as time goes on as well. Thanks a lot for the positive feedback!

I don’t have the app since I am a iphone user, but a custom note area could serve this purpose. On other apps I use this area is where I would add match-up specific stuff and things I need to know that don’t have their own section. If this section doesn’t exist (and it could, I just haven’t been able to use it yet) the developer should look into adding that.

A few posts ago, I mentioned that we are investigating how to best do the note-taking feature. In particular, we’d like to implement a cloud-based solution so that our users can view/update the same notes whether they are at their computer, on a tablet, on their phone, etc. I hope we can pull it off!

Check out Parse. I’m using it right now for a major mobile side project and it owns.

Thanks for the lead! We’ve got plans that should work out with enough elbow grease. Parse looks cool – it seems like a lot more robustness than we’ll need, but I’ll definitely keep it in mind for other projects!

I love this damn app. Awwwwwwww man what a treat. Simply amazing. Really excited to see everything fully complete with all the frame data and everything once 5 launches.
