Venom arcade stick PS4/PS3

how is the input lag in those? Haven’t seen any results on teyah

Thanks for the insight and apologies for continuing on the wrong thread. I’ve contacted the seller “Amazon” and was told they are unsure about the actual product being the updated version which I found odd.So I figured I’d consult the forums for help if anybody has experience with the matter.

I may have scored a deal with someone upgrading from a stock venom. Regarding joystick cables, since I have an hrap v3sa with a hayabusa installed will the cable/harness that came with the hrap be compatible with the venom without any issues? Id like to swap my stick n buttons to the venom but if I’ll need a new cable it’s not a big deal. Thanks

The V4 has the cable glued to the board, but I’m not sure about the V3 - it might be an idea to pick up a new joystick harness, just in case.

It is glued to the pcb albeit very poorly but looks easy to remove. I’m mainly concerned with the cable being too short or the harness not fitting into the venom board. If it doesn’t fit i can still use my v3sa til a new cable comes. I don’t see why the harness wouldnt fit though, unless it’s completely different on the venom.

Working on some stick art based on Japanese Mega Drive covers. I wanted to preserve the design of the label, so this is just a straight resize:

(Main art is scaled at 50% to get on imgur)

Do those buttons look like they’ll be OK? I’m thinking Semitsu clear screw-ins… I know I’ll have to resize that top button for the 24mm plug, but I have no idea how to do so in gimp

You don’t need to make 2 sheets, the actual button plungers are smaller than the button holes.
You would need to re size for the 24 hole. It should be the same size as the hole for your joystick.

I had a change of direction. Can’t wait to win at Evo with this bad boy on my stick

Argh no matter what I can’t get the size for the art right. 25.00 wasted printing it.

Hey everyone. I can confirm that OBSF-30RGs do indeed fit into the Venom, but it’s a real tight squeeze. I had to bend the harness quite a lot, but it still works fine.

So, first time I’ve ever done any modding at all to a stick. Been using Hori and Qanba stuff stock since, like, 2003. Replaced the buttons and balltop last night (I like the stick itself, at least for now), felt like an idiot for not knowing how easy it was. Kinda wanna get a second Venom just so I can do that again. :stuck_out_tongue:

Quick question: What material are you guys using for art? Is it essentially a sticker or is there something that can be swapped a little more easily?

Just paper, the stick has the plexi so is not needed a vinyl. I printed mine in a print shop and asked for the best quality paper and printing. Just 1,35€ and the result is awesome.

now that looks sick. i like it. Love the Sanwa, Capcom, Namco writing.

I also would like to print my artwork for my Venom stick. I have done the edits on Gimp and I have exported the artwork in a jpeg. The image size is 3840x2316 (300dpi). Is it ok for printing?
Another member suggested to use PDF format and also add border to the artwork:

Is it necessary? When I export my artwork in PDF format, then I feel that the image is somehow blurry… Moreover I am not sure how to add borders. Do I have to use just a bigger image size, larger than 3840x2316 containing my artwork?

Guys i ve just finished modding my new venom with full sanwa stuff…is it normal that the shaft of jlf sanwa stick seems short?i didn t notice if the stock shaft were taller honestly because i played few games with it, but now that i have the sanwa i feel that is a little small…by the way i don t think i missed anything while mounting it, so what do you think maybe a placebo effect?

Both sticks are the same length. If you mounted it and screwed it to the arcade stick properly, you shouldn’t be worried.

Hey there!
To clear it up, no, following my suggestion is not necessary per say, it really depends on how and where you’re going to print your stuff. I know the printer I use at work crops the picture (and I have no way of changing that, since I print directly from a flash drive plugged into the printer, not from a computer where I could edit the page layout), so that’s why I have to add borders: the borders get cropped and my picture is fine.

Regarding the .pdf file format, it’s not necessary either… depending on how and where you print your stuff. If you have access to a computer + a printer, it’s probably not necessary and I don’t think I have to tell you how to print a picture. BUT, if you want to bring your artwork to a print shop, for instance, I strongly advise you to use a .pdf. Why? Because in case they mess up with the dimensions, colors or whatever, they could possibly blame it on you for not bringing them a .pdf, which is standard and contains all the information they need to print it exactly the way you want. The same goes if you want to print your stuff at a place when you can’t really adjust the layout (like me).

So, those two suggestions were just suggestions based on my own experience and wasting a couple of sheets of paper, they’re absolutely not mandatory… but they can’t do any harm either.

I am not familiar with Gimp, so I don’t know how to export to .pdf from there, but it shouldn’t be any harder than in Photoshop (which gives you plenty of options regarding compression, which you want to keep as low as possible to keep the original picture intact). But I can tell you that your .pdf should NOT look any blurrier than your original image. It should look exactly the same! Same dimensions, same dpi density, etc… So maybe have a look at the compression settings if it’s not the case (just like you probably did when you exported your picture to .jpg, which is a lossy format).

And finally, to add borders, yeah, basically enlarge the canvas size of your picture. So you’ll end up with a picture that is of course larger than 3840x2316 since your original picture is contained in it.

Hope that helps.

i modded my first venom with full sanwa stuff like this, thank’s for KewreL’s artwork, i didn’t put the shaft cover, do you think that it is better to prevent any damage in a long period to the shaft? Because actually i prefere the naked shaft while playing with the stick (and also visually):

Now i will use this artwork

for my second one with green/yellow sanwa buttons and sanwa stick (ordered 3 ball top a simple yellow one and 2 with bubbles seimitsu green and yellow that i will swap by time). I also ordered an octagonal gate because of the price ,i never tried it before and i will mount it on it but what do you guys think ? Is it good ? I play mostly street fighter V and killer instinct xbox one (with brook adapter).

Hi there, I’ve just made my artwork, and I just wanted to know where you all print yours.

Tekinnovation doesn’t seems to print on Venom’s stick.

Got a friend that works at a printers to do mine
