Venom arcade stick PS4/PS3

The venom and Mayflash V2 was designed with standard Sanwa parts in mind.

For the buttons most standard 30mm buttons will fit with a 24mm button for the PS button.
What are not going to fit is the RG buttons and the OSB - 24, OSB - 30 (anything with the OSB-M-1 Microswitch assembly).

For Joysticks the Sanwa JLF is given, but the Seimitsu LS-32, 56, 58, 60 and 62 should all fit without issues. For the Seimitsu joysticks, you can reuse the joystick wiring if you get the joysticks without the -01 in the part number. That also goes for any clone of the above joysticks.

As those joysticks has individual tabs on the switches instead of a 5 pin wiring harness.
I can’t say about the LS-40, Sanwa JLW or Hayabusa Joysticks, someone have to look into it and see if they have room to mount or not.
I can’t say if the Japanese mount compatible Korean sticks would work or not.

Happs/IL Parts will not fit.

Have a look at my guide. You’ll find it through my profile

Awesome guide!!!
Can I ask if anyone knows if I’d be able to cannibalise my old SC Stick for parts?

Finally bit the bullet and made up some stick art after lurking on this thread for months.
Used johnnytoxic’s template and it came out pretty much the perfect size, just needed a little trimming.
It’s simple but I’m pleased with it as a first attempt, and with the Sanwa parts it looks pretty alright.

does this stick work with sfv on PC out the box? Or do you need x360ce? input lag with that?

cheers

Edit: Nvm, found this on Steam forums. Native and no lag apparently. Shame the price on these in UK has gone up! I have parts on the way and currently would be modding Hori EX2 with them.

Gone up? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Official-PlayStation-Licensed-8-Button-Arcade/dp/B00NHDSINS

Sadly yeah, its gone up £20 since I ordered mine on the 22nd of Feb.

Here is a tip, for those with dark templates like yours CeeJay, get a black marker pen and around the PlayStation button, carefully colour the edge it. You won’t see the cut then.

Is it possible to build another stick from my Venom’s leftovers? (since I ordered a new Sanwa stick and buttons).
I mean do they sell the boards and connectors etc separately that work with ps4/pc? And if that’s the case what would I actually need in addition to the stick and buttons? (I was thinking about building the case myself).

That’s an excellent idea!
I’ll try it out when I get some time at the weekend.

I’ve made a video how to insert your own custom artwork into the Adobe Illustrator templates.

Using clipping masks seems to be an easy way for this.

Nice @johnnytoxic , I’ll add a link to this in my guide.

I ended up getting a bad print, the button and light holes were the right size but when I lined up the stick, home, and, lights, the buttons were misaligned and I must of had about 5 mm excess around the template…
I say bad print but I’m an artist, so if it’s not perfect I get fussy.

Since I am using the stick on PC, I figured it would be more comfortable to switch the ā€œStartā€ button with the ā€œPSā€ button (by rewiring them). Is this possible by just moving the cables around or would
I have to solder them?

You could also use x360ce to do that software-wise rather than hardware-wise, I think…

Oh yeah, thanks!

hi guys i’ve receved my venom stick today and ordered a sanwa joystick (top red ball) and six red sanwa buttons and two black ones as well. The 5 pin cable female to female is also in the order and when i will receive everything i will mod the stick (hopefully soon). The ā€œproblemā€ now is the artwork to apply…i’ve done tho examples but i’m not totally happy with the result for the buttons (x, r1…for the ps4 pad). I would know if it exist some layout (just for the buttons) because i think mine are ugly for the moment (i tried to do my best but specially triangle and circle are ugly).
What do you guys think? Can you help me? I’m also in doubt for wich artwork choose between both:

hi guys, i have a few quick questions
if i switch my joystick from my qanba q4, would i still need to
purchase the female to female cable in order to connect it to the pcb?
also, would anybody know how the input lag for the pcb stacks up to some of the other sticks?

many thanks!

Can anyone tell me if the SANWA JLF-TP-8YT has shorter travel than the stock stick?

Been digging around in mine - just realised the filler part they used to block off the mayflash slot at the front is a plastic insert and easily removable, but I’m not sure what I could put there - perhaps a card reader, if I decide I want to fit a retropi in mine?

I’m preparing for my PCB mod (can’t afford a Brook UFB until next month. Does anyone have the pinout for the top two PCBs (light board and the options/share/turbo)? Thanks!
