Wasting your time, Joz. Give up, ffs. =/
It’s basically, Japanese players use what they’re given, American players always want more. Hence, the skill gap.

^ Yep
its the quality of players actually. Shit players get to play real good players everyday, and those who want to learn get good. That isn’t the case in the west.
And he knows this because? It sounds like a blanket statement based on a few days of being there.
I don’t know about that. There was a whole lotta Japanese bitching among Vega players after his apology edition changes came out. I believe Vegaman even posted some in one of the threads here. This is indeed a blanket statement that crumbles under scrutiny.
I will admit that it seems like the West does bitch more and does get more…childish with their “criticism”, but that doesn’t put the Japanese on a pedestal like they never bitch about their character, not by a longshot. Come on…that is too vague.
On the skill gap though…yeah overall they’re much better, but is it because they “bitch less”? Mmmm…that’s reaching imo. I’ll throw in my own blanket statement here and say I think it’s because, on the whole, the Japanese (or the East Asia in general) take SF a lot more serious than we do. In the West “casual” gamers outnumber “serious” gamers 10-1, and I wouldn’t say that’s the case over there.
Gaming in general in more engraved in their social culture than it is in ours. That’s why I think they’re better.
Yeah clearly the japanese do not want more. And please dont hesitate to put yourselves and joz on a pedestal while shitting on everyone here at the same time.
Realize that Japan didn’t always have quality players. All the big names (current and retired) had to work from rock bottom too. There’s a difference between whining about something but still putting in the work and whining about something and dropping it as a lost cause/putting in half-assed effort, etc.
PS: XBL is worse than I remember.
Edit:
Jozhear should just drop it and go chat abt Vega & SF with whatever local scene he has. Trying so hard for what?
Give me a break.
It shouldn’t matter, right? I mean, I’m sure everybody contributes and keeps the forums updated with info and strategies. No complaining about shit you can’t change and waiting for the developers to add to the character/change the game around here. =/
There’s also a difference between bitching and moaning and putting something out there in the hopes of it getting fixed/changed, much like we’ve seen happen to other characters when people have voiced their opinions. Also, just because you complain about something doesn’t mean you aren’t trying to also learn how to play and do your best with your character as he stands currently. It’s the people who moved on from Claw when they didn’t get the changes they wanted - the people who are probably not even reading this board anymore - who were more the problem than those who are here still sticking it out with their mask and claw in hand, still hoping to see a buff they’d like.
Personally, I’ve stopped holding my breath for any major changes to Claw anytime soon and I’m trying to do what I can with what I have, because it’s clear that Capcom sees Claw’s pokes as godly and don’t want to give him much else probably because it would make those players who have learned how to use those godly pokes properly too strong in their eyes. Back to grinding it out.
I don’t understand…Is that supposed to prove anything?
In the end of the day, what matters most is the difference between a self proclaimed pro/online warrior and an actual tournament player who has placed high (which really defines the value of the player and their insight). Not generally Japanese and North American players. I really find the justification for bitching really pathetic around this thread and even more pathetic how people are being called elitist for just stating that. But then again, I don’t know why you all chose Vega as your main in the first place.
I think AE is broken in comparison to its anticipated patch, hence why I have not been posting much here or playing the game until the patch comes out so I can finally see how I can manage Vega against the changed roster. It’s gonna be a new game to me.
This is the only thing worth reading in this thread.
Lol, thats Vega’s U3 =D
Some people are called “elitists” when they don’t deserve it, and some people are labled “whiners” just for daring to say something someone doesn’t like. There’s clearly a line in the sand and no amount of trying to explain your position will justify anything, for either side. Almost like a Democrat/Republican thing, for all of you in America, both sides have their feet dug into the ground and both hands over their ears, shouting and drowning out the dissent convinced they’re right. Maybe we should stop caring what other people think and focus on Vega. So whoever and whatever “side” your on, just stop it. Stop telling “elitists” to pull their head out their own ass and stop tell “whiners” to stop bitching, it literally does nothing for anyone involved.
EDIT: and although the Vega forum is in a shitty state now, that doesn’t mean there isn’t TONS of great info and tips to be found. I’ve been maining Vega since SF II days, but I’m still new to the whole SRK thing, and just in the short time I’ve been here I’ve learned a couple things that took my own game up a notch that I’d have never learned had I not been here.
My defense against blockstrings has against greatly improved, just from being more patient overall by observing videos and reading posts around here.
On my 1st day here lol, I got into a huge back-and-forth with Pai about CH, and over time I have changed the way I use CH even though I came in raging about it. To be fair though I was forced to because of the AE nerf, but the process was sped up by my time here, of that I have no doubt.
And of course, after almost 3 years of trying, I finally got the timing on cl.Hp>RCF down with consistency thanks to a video Rizhall posted.
These and a bunch of other little things like being more patient so I can more effectively read an opponent, using neutral jump more, blocking more instead of trying to sneak a jab through an OS or reversal it etc…
It’s not the best forum on the site but its far from useless or hopeless, there’s a lot of gold buried under the bullshit.
But that’s the thing though, all their good players are localized next to each other, or close to one another. they have more tournaments, and they can play the best at any time just by waiting in line. You get instant feed back, and you can do it multiple times cheaply.
Not so in America or or the west for that matter. The only time you get to play somebody worthy of praise or recognition is during a tournament, if your lucky to play them, and you have to lay down a ridiculous amount of money just to play the guy after wards, if you can catch them. The amount of work needed to be a top tier player in the west is a lot more work than somebody would have to work in Japan.
that’s what separates us from them.
Exactly. It’s an entirely different gaming culture in japan.
That was just a stupid statement anyway, seriously japanese players dont whine and complain about their characters? at all? Are they all disciplined samurais? Also the implication that because we supposedly complain and bitch that we therefore are worse players is equally stupid. But hey view and joz, you guys can go ahead and continue thinking you’re silently superior.
So much lulz. Classic line.
Wielding his blood sword,
A hero who fights with pride,
And slays with honor.
HHHHUUUOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Really this should just stop, though. More bitching about Vega, more playing with him, and less shitting on each other.
I think it’s better being frustrated with a character than another person… that’s what i think to me… That’ts what you were trying to say?
I just want to mention that CH-U1 will never work because the juggle state doesn’t allow the second hit of U1 to connect, it’s not an issue with the hitbox. Its the same reason why you can’t combo 3 hits of ST, the juggle-able state just runs out once the CH and first hit of U1 connects. Grounded CH to U2 still works in AE btw, its just, if you can believe it, stricter.
Sorry I haven’t been around much. Just recently got back onto xboxlive after finally getting a workaround for my damaged xbox’s ethernet port. Still need a new fightpad and fightstick though - gotta land a job first x.x
I’m excited for apology edition, just because things will improve slightly (but not significantly). My current perspective on Vega is that he is an incredibly useful and valuable character to play, and he still has a lot of great tricks left unexplored in depth (can’t wait to refine and show some when 2012 comes out). However, you have to accept that Claw has key design weaknesses that leave him too vulnerable to be a good bet vs certain other characters used by skilled players at high levels of play. This should be common knowledge. If you want to have a shot at winning a major you are going to need an alternate character that has better options to break out of telegraphed pressure loops. Vega can be your Ace, but you need another card for certain matchups.
This concludes my monthly off-topic random post in a random thread, just wanted to say hi and share my current perspective
Tip/Reminder of the day: PPP and KKK can not be used as reversals, they literally can not activate on the first frame possible as far as I know
no, it was just an extension of Bango’s remark.
