Hey guys, I’m a Rog player in need of Claw practice. Any nasty Claws want to play some matches?
I was in training a did a very deep forward j.HP into a slide…the slide went thru the person and didn’t hit at all…Just switched sides. Anyone seen that before? i lol’d…
and i dunno if alot of folks knew but you can combo into the df.RH from deep jumpins…i found it easiest with a str8 up j.HP.
question…after df.RH, can do a crouching kick into ST or can u only ST?
Wu Fei, thanks for the info, I will try it out and post results, maybe at some point tomorrow. I don’t think you can do crouching kicks after dfHK because it puts them in the air, so I think low attacks miss.
And that slide thing sounds silly. I wonder if there’s a way for that to happen every time…
Reveal, I sent you a message regarding your request.
if you do anything after df.RH it will reset them. but that can open up other possibilities. check what i put a few posts back. i want to get input from others about that. i think it works fairly well…so far
3 times against PiKiE’s Gief I connected j.fp and the c.mk follow up whiffed right through him. He didn’t block it either, he was still in standing hitstun. Anyone encounter anything like that so far?
I did a little bit of this the other day, actually. Reset them with cMP, and then you can play a few games with them. I wouldn’t advise on doing a focus though, because their first reaction once they see they aren’t getting hit, will be a reversal (probably breaking) or a grab, both of which will beat the focus.
What I DID do though was mix it up with:
Grab - free damage, can get it out fast with little time to react, and lets you reposition yourself.
:ub:HP - Your safest option, will cleanly stuff anything they throw at you, and will put you out of harms way if they block it.
:df:HK - Another safe option, but take a step back before you reset them, just in case.
backflip - I had tons of fun with this
Don’t try any reset shenanigans when they have ultra though. =P
Plus, I’m a little new to Vega, so take my info with a grain of salt.
Alsooooooo
juHP DOES combo into :df:HK, but I personally don’t think it’s worth it. juHP is only active for 2 frames, and he slashes straight ahead, so it’s extremely hard to land it cleanly and deep enough to get it to combo. Plus you’re probably going to get countered if you wait to attack from the air that long.
sorry don’t know if it’s been answered yet but can anyone answer ginko’s last question. i’m pretty new to vega and i would like to know the proper inputs to have vega dive from whatever side you choose. is it range dependent to the opponent? i tried the ol charge db, then ub.k for wall behind or uf.k for opposite wall behind opponent but most of the time i end up diving from wall behind. it seems that to dive from the opposite wall i have to charge df then uf.k and even then i only seem to get it 80% or so. i would normally be content with just charging df but it limits my options as i loose st and roll. so if anybody has the specific inputs pls help me out.
I had this issue when I first got this game. What you need to do is hold the direction of the wall you want to jump off rather than just tap it. So let’s say you’re on the left and your opponent is on the right. Charge “db” then do “uf k” making sure to hold “uf” until you see Vega go off your opponent’s wall. Same thing if you want to go off your own wall (make sure to hold “ub”).
i agree. i’ll keep it in mind tho if i’m dealing with someone who likes to slide in on me or something.
thanks for the input.
yeah, i agree on the grab/ :ub:+:hp:. and i didn’t even think of backflip but i tried it, and it baited people into doing so much shit lol. what i found to be useful is to walk a little before you do the backflip. i also use the aerial claw attack as a crossup here and there. but i think that will only work on newbs. no one has really countered it though.
as far as the focus stuff goes, i didn’t really think it would be too useful. i still use it though to try and play mind games but i think in the end its not worth using EX bar.
I thought i was at least decent with Vega. Reached 2900 BP quite easily with a nice streak of wins, managed to achieve a nice “hit and run” gamestyle, hell even succedeed in defeating almost all the sagats i met. I was happy.
Then i challenged Angel 666’s Ryu. He destroyed me. It was like a match between Mike Tyson and a 6yrs old kid. I couldn’t do anything against his super aggressive playstyle. Nothing. I couldn’t find a way to get away safely from him and starting my poking (?) game. Backflip? Dash and throw/combo me. Flipkick as a reversal? Always traded dmg or beat out cleanly. Jump back? Flying tatsumaki and i’m back in the corner. The only time i could get away from him is when i had a bar to use EX-Walldive, but that’s it.
It’s not like i was thinking i could win. He’s way better than me, he’s a tournament level player while i’m a casual who’s now trying to improve his game step by step, but usually when i play against someone who’s better than me i feel like i’m learning something. This time i just got murdered and i struggle to find out what i should do to avoid that.
Oh, sorry for my bad english.
Anyone spend anytime with his kara yet?
He has one? What is it?
Fighting Ryu and Ken is less about poking as it is against other characters. Wall-dive is great against them as Shoryu will almost always whiff. If he’s in your face, block until you get an opening.
His kara is HK. To be honest, I haven’t tried it even once yet.
Really? I never noticed hk moving him forward any. I’ll have to look into it because i’m just about ready to hang it up with Vega. Maybe this will keep me home so to speak.
Claw’s kara throw is among the best in the game. It’s one of his few shining aspects and you should definitely be using it when you have a good chance.
Anyone else think claw’s super is underrated with its huge grabbing range? If you knock your opponent down close by and confirm that they didn’t tech wakeup, it appears to be almost guaranteed and will grab out of pretty much anything. Now, it may be more worthwhile in his overall gameplans to use EX flip kicks and guaranteed EX wall dives instead but the threat of claw easily inflicting a large chunk of damage is an option that seems to deserve some consideration.
I wasn’t aware that it did that large of a chunk of damage. That’s something else i’ll look into while I play this evening. Good info!
Actually Ganelon, i LOVE his super. It is extremely easy to land them with it. If I spend a round doign nthign but pokes, I usually end up with a super the second round, or close to it.
I don’t know if it was already said, but could anyone tell me some tick throw setup?
I found out that my ground game is pretty poor. I usually…well just poke with c.mp, mix with fd.rh and a slide for max distance. I’m pretty bad.
I’m not 100% sure about this, but I think his super does less damage if you catch an opponent while he is already in the air.
Could someone go to training mode for me and see if it makes a difference?
