Vega Q&A: Ask simple questions here!

No, seriously, it CAN cross you up outside of being meaty on wakeup. It cannot randomly be a random overhead.

yeah there’s no input display, so it’s hard to judge. But I believe either he stopped blocking or it was a crossup.
Isn’t a attack that can be blocked by blocking high or low called mid-attack?
Admit that you don’t even know some basics…

Dude, my joke wasn’t good, but by you not getting it I assume that your IQ isn’t either.

Yeah, there it is. It can cross up. I really thought that it was impossible. Thus I had no other way to explain why it would hit.
Nothing changed in my life but thats a nice trivia.

I always figured that U1 could cross up but THAT is hard to understand…

U1 non-meaty crossup can happen but it’s extremely rare outside of the corner. Don’t try to crouch block it if you’re in the corner. (I’ve seen it vs Fei Long in the same position Akuma was in.)

I’ve also seen the second hit non-meaty crossup on standing Rufus midscreen. It worked when I tried to crossup with a meaty first hit, did it too early, and the second hit crossed rufus up ONLY if he tried to block straight back on both the missed first hit and again back on the return shot.

I had the Rufus thing on record that 1 time so I knew it was happening, but I couldn’t replicate the situation again later on.

can you upload that?

is there anything that beats vegas cheap back handspring?
I hate those run aways

Anything you want. There’s a big window of vulnerability at the end of both versions. High level Vegas almost never use the flips as a getaway option because they are so unsafe. If you’re a big boy you can go into training mode and record Vega doing the PPP and KKK flips and try to punish the end of them.

attack-attack- OH LOOK HES FLIPPING AWAY! walk forward -> anything

and since you don’t seem to be well-versed in Vega, remember that Vega doesn’t have any invincible moves other that his somewhat slow Ultra2. If you are attacking him, as Vega gets off the ground, even his EX Scarlet Terror “flashkick” can be beaten by a light punch (or anything other than a throw/fireball). Good luck! Also, the flip-aways can’t be used on the first frame after getting up off the ground, so get a knockdown and rush him down!

i can’t believe how bad it is. you can’t even do it on reversal, when akuma has 4 types of teleports that are insanely good and screw with opponents option selects, and an ultra 2 which can be used from them at any point, on top of having 7 other ways to do something invincible on wake-up.

Yeah, but akuma is a almighty half demon or some shit like that, vega is just a wannabe ninja

I’m a pad player and I have trouble with CH into ST. there a short cut or any tips for executing this?

Instead of rolling on pad with thumb from down back to forward position, just let pad goto neutral position for a split second before pressing forward.

Could someone give me a rundown of vega’s shenanigans in the opponents wakeup? I know he’s got quite a few side changing mixups and things like that. Also, what are my best options after cosmic heel ?

Lastly, does vega have any specific setups to land a crossup?

About knockdown uses (vortex), maybe those would help :

And here.

Regarding CH follow-ups :
— CH–HK-ST (meterless and damaging)
— CH–EX-ST (more damagin)
— CH–LK-ST–EX-ST (even more damaging/stunning, but harder)
—CH–CH–EX-ST (useful in case of side switching)
—CH–EX-FBA (if you can’t land the ST)

You can also go for resets. I wouldn’t use them often, but they are useful when ennemy gets dizzied after eating a lot of hits.
— CH cMK reset PoM
— CH cLP/cMK reset EX-FBA cross-up

=)

Im not sure if this is the right thread, but im a new SF player (about 2 months) and i have selected vega to be my main. I really enjoy his play style. However, Im having an issue with his Cr.lp links… I feel like its an essential part of his ground game but i cant for the life me link them. I just end up getting blocked and then i cant XX them to anything. How fast must they be pressed, i cant get this timing down for crap on this particular normal.

Listen to this for the correct timing.
cr.LP to cr.LP (or to cr.MP, or st.HK) is a one frame link, the strictest link possible in the game. You have only one frame out of 60 in a single second to get the timing perfectly. It is something you should practice very frequently but do not expect to get good at it in a short amount of time.

thanks, but getting like 4 in a row? how is this even possible? He seems to move away too fast

Who is “he”? Are you trying to do the trials vs Dan? If you start at point blank you are definitely close enough to pull it off. Sometimes if you miss your timing it will wiff entirely instead of get blocked, so it can be hard to tell if you are mistiming something or truly too far away.

Finally picked this game up in December ( little late I know ) and have decided to main Vega. Noob questions incoming. What are the best ways to deal with people jumping in on you? I understand this one of the characters weak spots but sometimes I feel helpless. Same thing goes for getting knocked down. Aside from good blocking, what are good wake up options for vega? Thanks for any help.

Anti-air options are H Scarlet terror, s.HK, nj.HK, nj.MK, airthrow, Ultra 2. You’ll need to experiment to find the ranges/situations where each of those would work best, most reliable ones are nj.HK, Scarlet terror and airthrow imo.

Wake up options are one of Vega’s main weakpoints. there’s backdash, KKK flip, and U2 but a proper meaty/safejump will beat all of those so blocking is more or less always your best option.
