I pressed the PS button at some point so I don’t have the clip anymore. Is it possible to watch my replays and record on my PS4 from there? I don’t have any recording equipment so I can only upload videos directly from the console.
I talked to him after grand finals, he said he never did FBA safe jump cause he never sweeps. Other than than he played amazingly solid. He says Vega/Karin is 5-5 and Justin just outplayed him, but I think Karin really just fucks Vega up close like others with great frame traps.
I made a curse server: SFV Team Vega if anyone is interested.
The new tech was vega vtrigger going through sim exfireball as an answer to ex fireball +tk teleport mixups. The moment vega touches sim the animation starts and vega completely ignores the fireball regardless of how close it was. It happened in top 8 vs champ.
It’s not really new tech more than it is FChamp’s dhalsim not waiting longer to teleport. Vega is totally vulnerable during the rose-throw animation and if sim had waited a little bit longer to teleport, the fireball would’ve clipped him out of V-Trigger startup.
In the meantime I just played a really good Nash player. We did two FT5 sets in the battle lounge. One thing I had trouble dealing with was the sonic boom spam and the moonsault pressure. I couldn’t maneuver around hte fireballs unless I had meter for EX roll. Then moonsault is plus on block so if I press buttons after blocking moonsault I get counter hit. Nash players always use this move against me a lot.
They will do Cr.MP -> st.MP did it hit? Sonic Scythe. Was it blocked? Moonsault. This is where I feel like I’m stuck the most. I have no idea what to do in this situation. I just feel like the walls are closing in on me when this happens. I panic because time after time I’ve fallen victim to consistent moonsault pressure.
Then the one time I actually do decent against Nash, his V-trigger is ready. I cannot react to that shit whatsoever. I try to block it and I just get hit. Sometimes I don’t even know what fucking side it’s on until I get hit.
Aside from what I just said are there any other pointers for the Vega vs. Nash matchup?
You can walk under when Nash starts to moonsault and punish right after. You can also slide under him when he moonsaults if you want to create distance from all the pressure.
For starters, it sounds like you have to shut down Moonsault pressure. MS is one of those moves that is actually garbage but will get you wrecked if you aren’t familiar with it. Instead of trying to respond after blocking it, you NEED to show you can stuff it before it comes out. Instant j.mp, st.lp, air throw, etc. That move is hilariously easy to beat. If you do end up blocking it however, you can V-Reversal away to safety. If you block the light version you can force a trade with st.lk or BH st.lp, and if he presses anything slower than a jab you win. But your best bet is to just blow it up before it comes out.
For booms, don’t be afraid to just walk forward and block them. You can also V-Skill without the attack depending on the distance. Don’t forget EX.Roll, neutral jumping, and aerial V-Trigger. Whatever you do to deal with them make sure you change it up so you don’t get flowcharted by follow-up pressure.
Most Nash players will push themselves into the corner, so make sure you turn up the heat when you put them there. In the corner you’ll want to focus on grabbing him so he doesn’t just V-Reversal out.
When I fight Nash, my game plan is usually “block until he tries to dash/throw or I get in”. They love dash into throw so I find that if you find try to check their dashes with lights, they will struggle. Ideally you want to space yourself so that you’re too close for him to throw booms but too far for him to dash > pressure/throw.
Last thing, but know your punishes. Punish overhead on block, slide a blocked backfist, etc.
I’m pretty sure this match up is in his favor, but it’s not unwinnable
Feels good in principle but I honestly feel because of the input buffers in this game I would try walking up and rolling and getting barcelona all the time.
Anyone have any suggestions for input confusion? I bet barcelona so often when I just want to walk forward and ST hk anti air.
So Rashid’s running windmill is suposed to be -2 on block…so why did i try to beat the fallow up normal and was getting counterhit all the time?..seriously if i knew for sure is + on block i would work around it…but knowing it is not i became obsesed with it and the Rashid player would pressure me for free with it…what is the deal…is this an online-frame lag thing?
It could be the 8 frame lag thing, online, or more likely, you’re jabbing later than you think you can. His windmill is annoying, the blockstun ended earlier than it appears it does and you can mash s.LK.
I have used lk anti air roll and it’s killer. It has it’s faults though. It’s 10 frame startup, and it’s not great in our worst aa range. However, it’s good for that specific range, and you can cancel it’s one hit into super if you’re feeling saucy, or want to win or whatever. I sometimes use it to combo into super off of hp ae. Not for a good reason, probably just for fun. It’s got a LOT of corner carry for an AA if you space it right though.
It seems like if I press anything other than down-back I get blown the fuck up pretty free. The only time I get decent damage is when I block eagle spike. For some reason I always eat a throw after blocking LP spinning mixer. He keeps rolling around the fuckin screen and I can’t even keep up with him and I supposedly have the fastest walk speed in the game.
For someone who is supposedly low tier this son of a bitch is really annoying.
