I play most of the top players in MA and the New England area. I place fairly well at the locals here. We all think Vega is just outside top 5. I personally think vega/chun is 4-6 (in chuns favor) and vega beats the shotos 5.5-4.5 and 5-5 with Nash. Vega definitely beats Sim as well. Lucky D (best player in MA maybe) plays Sim and we have extremely close matches. I have an easier time dealing with his neutral game than say Chun Li’s neutral game. I’m honestly not sure who flat out beats Vega other than Chun li. You could make an argument that Mika beats him but I haven’t faced a good enough Mika yet to make a decent judgment on the match up.
Edit: I should say that I can’t really make a perfect judgment on Ken yet either as there are no high level Ken players in my area. Online I feel as if the matchup is fine and slightly in Vega’s favor but idk. I play Chun’s, Karin’s and Nash’s freakin constantly here. Vega bodies Karin =].
Maybe he beats you but not Vega xD might be another case of mental blocking. Seriously Vega has all the tools over necalli. The only thing he has over Vega is DP.
And what if that necalli can do that? We are not here to discuss our personal level but to share tech and opinions on how the matchups play. At least thats what i think. Im always up to play anyone though. Cfn id is serpentaurus.
I know you’re frustrated, but try to be a bit more understanding of people wanting to help out. That’s what we’re all here for anyways.
Personally, I feel the Vega - Necalli MU is in Vega’s favor, in neutral, he can out footsie Necalli with s.MP and cr.MP. Necalli has to commit to many unsafe options which Vega can punish pretty hard.
If you’re having trouble with the MU, describe specifically what is giving you trouble. Moves, blockstrings, neutral, etc. Then we can all talk about it/exchange advice.
I’m actually gonna agree with Dr. Katz and say this MU is pretty even. It’s pretty much like fighting Ken. Necalli really struggles to get in, especially on Vega.
It’s a tough match. Especially when he gets in, you have to hold that pressure. His burst damage is great also. As for c.mk to stomp xx super, I now try to keep meter to deter that.
@“Arlieth Tralare” The Birdie match is annoying, but there are a few things I wanna point out.
Slide isn’t worth it generally. Birdie can s.lk xx special punish. Lk roll is safer if you wanna get in that range since Birdie can’t do shit to it spaced right.
Crush counter, EX FBA, or VT (I saw you do this in the match) his v skill. F+FP will stop those V-Skills pretty easy.
Punish those chains, a lot went unpunished. Sweep, EX FBA, or f+fp. At a minimum dash forward.
When blocking Birdie, hold up after 1 jab if you are worrieda bout command grab. Thats the only range he can grab. After that hold downback. If he goes for another lk/lp at worst you get hit, but no combo or counter hits and he gets nothing.
Overall that match up I don’t care for, he does so much damage and pokes are really good. Solid match overall.
Necalli definitely does not beat Vega. It’s so obvious what Necalli’s want to go for and Vega has the mobility to NEVER be in cr.mk range and whiff punish/poke accordingly.
Hey guys last night there were a lot of Vegas in WFN including our own Arlieth and for the most part they did very well Mike L Na sending Chris Tatarian to losers was great…too bad he ended up losing the series in the Grand finals but my faith in Vega as a tournament viable character is partially restored…i feel like Ken is a fraud and eventually people will stop letting Ken players get away with bullshit…eventually the bad frame data on a lot of his normals will get to him…for example i find out yesterday that Ken’s cmk> Fireball is not only not a blockstring is in fact a pretty loose frametrap (there is like a 4 frame gap)…after you block a cmk from ken his turn is over no matter what…st lk interrups the cmk>hadouken pressure string and you can get a big punish if you are clawless (he is obviously standing )…and i don’t think Ken can cancel cmk into hadouken (or can he?)…i feel like Arleth could have beat Futile with a few adjusments here and there…he could have punished a couple of things…(not judging i have been known for droping combos and failing to punish things under pressure…it happens to the best of us)…i definitely feel Vega beats Birdie now…i actually respect Futile for taking advantage of Birdie’s good normals and playing footsies…and not just spamming specials like most Birdie players
Yeah, that’s what I love about this game. As it grows, we’re gonna see big swings in the tier list mostly based on proper punishes and knowing what’s safe/unsafe.
