Mika needs to hit one st mp from mid screen to get Vega in the corner then it becomes a guessing game almost similar to what Vega had to deal with from Abel in SFIV
Abel was an honest character though.
Step-kick KO?
Never a blocked string I was doing it to poongko last tournament.
Anyone else feel that Chun Li outclasses vega in almost every aspect? Better hitboxes on normals, better footsies in general, stupid good anti airs and a reversal… wtf Capcom… 6-4 matchup for sure =/.
I feel as if vega loses slightly to mika and Karin also. Anyone else agree? Karin’s st.lk stuffs every single normal in claw on stance. It sucks…
I feel like i have the number of Karim and Laura, also Zangief…but take into account i’m in south america and capcom fighters network only matchs me up with other southamericans…i’m not playing any Daigos around here…all the Karims i’m playing are just too desperate to use that jumping over head from across the screen and walk over and grab…also i feel like Karim is almost as hopeless as Vega or meaby even more in the anti air departament (when they don’t have bars to use their reversal)
My friend plays a pretty solid Karin. I think she beats Vega in the footsies department since some of her tools are pretty strong. I think it’s her s.MK that has excellent range and is really quick.
But like Vagabond Zero mentioned, her anti-airs are subpar. You can bait her and jump in to really put the pressure on. She has two waste 1 bar for her only true reversal, so you can pressure her a lot when you score that knockdown.
Chun Li I feel is a tough MU for Vega. But I think we simply need to outplay her.
I think Karin gets beat, but Chun wins vs Vega
I played infiltration online today. He sandbagged and gave me the win, i broke his 111 game win streak. it was weird
but i got a decent idea of how to fight karin with vega, he was counter poking a lot of my stuff with buffers into the upwards palm
and her st. mk beat a lot of my stuff out
i wouldn’t say chun li out classes vega in every aspect. you can force her to vary her approach behind kikouken’s with your v-skill and other anti-fireball options. her normals are boss though and her frame traps are deadly. this is a good matchup where you have to make use of 3 frame start up st. lk. it’s pretty good at interrupting instant air legs
if you get the life lead from her you can play defensively and shut her out but you do have to guess right, it’s not foolproof. at the very least though she has low HP
It might be a winning match for Chun Li but it’s too early for me to say.
@Jozhear , I’m pretty sure you fought a bot. There’s this one by the name of RZR INFILTRATION or something like that which also uses Karin and plays as you described. The 111 win streak is also explained by that, as other bots are known to not lose their win streak when they lose, thus having such big ones.
That name is usually just the bot, but it can be set to troll, or just completely rape you. The actual guy plays a name like toolassistedv4 or something like that. He is a pretty nice guy, showed me punishes to look out for and liked seeing Vega’s tricky setups. He is basically using tools that can be controlled during a match.
What do I against these characters?
Laura
Dhalsim
R. Mika
Chun-Li
Bison
Nash
Bison and Dhalsim give me the most trouble, followed by Chunners.
Vega rapes air legs. Most the cast can at least c.lp. Vega can c.fp or c.mp pretty easily on reaction. My buddy doesn’t even do it to me anymore in block strings but once in a blue moon now.
That makes me so happy to hear. I was worried it was going to be a big problem for Vega. Anyone notice that s.MP (Clawless) is actually a decent anti-air in some ways? Mainly for deep jump ins and shenanigans like that.
Vega seems like a bad match-up for Sim actually. Every time you see him teleport, just jab and you’re at advantage. If you’re quick enough you can get an airthrow or a HK, potentially CC, and convert off of that for big damage. I find ASE to be good in the midrange when he’s zoning you out since most of his pokes are minus on block and have high startup so if he tries to poke again you’ll hit with it. Sliding blows up raw fireballs. Snipers are really risky because you can just FBA or V-Trigger xx CA even on hit so only worry about those if one would kill. If he overcommits to something, which Sim often has to do, clawless EX Walldive can punish it. Clawless Vega is a nightmare for him too. Main issue is that you can’t V-Reversal to beat or bypass flame carpet blockstrings so if he gets that on you you’re gonna have a bad time.
I’ve heard that clawless is great for Bison and it’s become an easier matchup now for me, though not free. He has a lot of ways to bypass your poke game so it’s probably best to get a knockdown and start pressuring. If you crush counter sweep, time an EX Walldive to meaty on whichever side you choose. Nasty damage. That works for Sim and Nash and any character without an invincible reversal as well, unless Nash has V-Trigger.
Chun’s just hard for everyone and usually I just try to play the player instead of the character. It’s hard and I couldn’t tell you what to really do against her.
Laura and Mika you have to zone out as much as possible. I feel like Laura’s one of his worst matchups. The hitbox on her little Aegis Reflector thing is pathetic so you can slide it. If she does light shoulder just LK to interrupt whatever she’s doing. I’d love to know how to play that matchup as well. Mika is also difficult and I don’t have much knowledge. Definitely V-Reversal any dropkicks. ASE is your friend for keeping her out though be careful not to just push yourself in the corner.
I’d like to throw in that I’m having huge trouble against Birdie and it feels like I can’t get in on him when he plays defensively.
Yeah, got confirmation from one of my friends that it was a bot. Lol
Never mind!
Thanks for the Dhalsim advice. It really helps to know that match is actually in my favor and that I was just playing badly. Speaking of CC sweeping against Bison, what’s Vega’s best moves for getting Crush Counters? I really think being able to bait certain moves and being able to CC on reaction would help me a lot…idk how valid that is though.
Do you have any advice for Nash?
I never use my V-reversal. I always hold out for the V-trigger. Is Vega’s V-Reversal good against any other characters besides R.Mika?
EDIT: I’m totally helpless against Nash. I have no idea what the fuck to do.
@Dixie_Flatline @“Spinning Beat”
Birdie is an okay MU. I have a friend who is decent with Birdie and I have fought several of them online. You just need to change your gameplan. He’s going to try to zone you out with his chains and great anti-airs. Never go for raw FBA, he will consistently anti-air it everytime. Jump-ins are risky too. But you can jump at him if he commits to an attack with a lot fo lag.
Wait for him to come in with leaping command throw and punish him hard. Once you have the pressure on him, don’t let up. You can also block his chains and punish with a jump in since they are minus on block. Just gradually ease your way in and avoid his throws/zoning, then pressure him to death.
As for Nash, I wish I could help more, but he’s a tough MU for us. I wish out V-trigger had great invincibility frames like his, but ah well.
My suggestion is to simply keep him out and out footsie him. His fireballs make this difficult, but don’t let him get away with moonsault slash. Hit him out of it with a jumping attack or anti-air with cr.HP. Keep poking him until he dies, or get in, go clawless and rush him down.
That’s good knowledge.
Are there some characters I am better off Clawless against? I take the claw off almost immediately because I feel like I have more options. I only use the claw for low MP and ASE blockstrings.
There are a few situations that are totally worth V-Reversal:
[list]
[] Blocking a jump-in or charged drop kick by Mika
[] Blocking a jump-in by Laura
[] Blocking a jump-in or headbutt by Gief
[] Blocking an EX Lightning Legs by Chun (after the first burst; each burst is 5 hits, you can V-R as early as the 4th hit)
[] Blocking an EX Moonsault by Charlie (2nd hit)
[] Blocking 1st hit of Necalli’s EX Stomp
