Vega General Thread: The Masked Narcissist Enters The Tournament

So many tears…

I can see you joined 2 days ago, so I will say this kindly.

WTF is not for you to press on every post you dislike, it is to bury posts.

Should try the character first before starting up the petitions. I’m sure he will be playable in at least one of the betas if you cant goto any events.

And trust me, I think the thread and the forum would be better off if your posts didn’t see the light of day.

But hey, feel free to keep saying the same rhetoric while you still have said “blasphemy” Vega as your avatar.

I can’t see your picture but I’m pretty sure you are talking about that second move in the IGN Cammy vs Claw match, right ?
In his trailer, he does an ex move where he pierces his opponent (the special looks like his Sky High Attack), I can’t be 100 % sure about that but I think that’s a variation of his ex special move where he pierces his opponent after going backward (here, it’s obviously a regular Estocade - I don’t know the english word for that, sorry). Maybe that’s more like Light is the backward stab and heavy his anti air or somethong like tat.

watching at this vid, could it be that s.mk hits low? o_o 05:32

That is the one. What you said makes perfect sense

Btw…is that all the gamescom footage we get?

This internet monster anger only causes laughter by my side, nothing more. I won’t even count my contributions.
I’ve said countless times that attacking each other is pointless and some will like the change and some will not.
But seeing people like you exist on the forum, proves it was a wrong idea to try to keep it peaceful.

Some people are just full of spite.
You were wrong if you thought I was going to attack you the same way you did. You’re just exposing your high quality. Continue.

Alright, we have the most list.

The most interesting thing about this is having a ‘dodge slash’ move.

We have been given two ways of avoiding and the countering a move. Combine with his VTrigger, and his natural range, plus the fact that Vega will most likely be the best character in the game at converting crush counters, Vega is going to be a footsie god.

Isn’t his command grab missing from that list?

should be his izuna drop

I’m only responding to what you’re saying to me. Not using any caps or anything of that sort yet. LOL. Not answering the question means that I’m at least right in that motions are just going to open options up for him.

I understand your case and it’s the same issue nostalgic people had with charge characters in KI becoming tap motion or charge motion. In the end though most still played and learn to live with the changes. There were probably a minute few that said they couldn’t deal with and changed characters or left the game, but very few I’m sure.

With time I’m sure you’ll learn to accept as well. He’s got a lot of new stuff opened up to him now. It’s understandable that you simply feel more comfortable holding back and down when using him, but I say give him a chance if they keep motion Vega and you may end up liking the new options you get. That’s all. No caps, no worries.

From that last video we can see s.LK. It is the far s.LK from SFIV with the outside knee, not the useless cl.LK. Good.

Some impressions from someone that knows what he’s talking about:

You know what the first thing he did was? Cycle through his normals. My boy.

I played Munta in an arcade in Melbourne. Nice guy. Loves Rose.

Also, it looks like sHK is now a dedicated anti-air, rather than a quasi-one, based on it’s angle.

Well, I try to not infer much based solely on the motions, as hitboxes and active frames are much more important. Going by the motion alone one would think Scarlet Terror in SFIV should be a reliable antiair, no? Heh

A pity he didn’t have time to show more of Vega like he did on Necalli, but at least we got to see the normals properly.

Yeah. S.HK loses the double hit property and that fast first hit startup from SFIV, but keeps the damage in one hit.

So now we have seen all claw and kick normals, standing and crouching. But we have only seen like two punch normals. Piece of Mercury is back, but no sign of Cosmic Heel yet.

I never said anything about making this peaceful. You never know a person’s true side if they’re bullshitting through a thin veneer of fake respect so I don’t want your pathetic attempt at trying to do so.

I want the real discussion, and sometimes the only way things get done is if people yell, bitch and moan with all the spite, hatred and fury that comes with it because that’s when the emotion is vented and at the end of that tunnel will be truth.

In terms of Vega, I’ll be real. He SHOULD be a Motion Character. Yeah I said it. I say this as someone who has also played Vega in ST more than any other character when I’ve never mained a charge character ever in my entire life. I don’t enjoy playing charge characters that much, though I respect them especially when the design makes sense. Vega as a charge character made very little sense. It didn’t affect him much because as it has been said, he’s always been a lot more about his pokes, buttons and control of the space immediately in front of him. But it does limit him slightly because it makes a character about speed and maneuvering forced to stay still for longer than he should. Now helpfully in most cases it didn’t matter in ST because you waited to charge when you were either full screen to do smart, spaced FBAs or after a knockdown when the charge is guaranteed with no hassle so you can FBA or RCF to continue pressure. But his moves weren’t worthy of being charge. Boxer’s safe straights and bulldog tank mentality, Bison’s Scissors and Devil Reverse, Guile of course, Honda and Blanka. They all have understandable reasons for being charge (I left Dee Jay off intentionally as I also believe he should be a motion character to differentiate himself from Guile a bit more). However for Vega it’s contradictory to the design they gave him. He’s about those pokes and buttons but he’s also about speed and mobility which being a charge character inherently takes away.

Even more so now in SF5 because they gave him a movelist that requires him to have access to all his tools at all times. Imagine if his Claw Switch was a charge move. That’s a move that requires the ability to use it at any time like all Stance Switch moves tend to do. On top of that, as it is now Vega has NO reversal in this game along with having no non-V-Reversal Backflip and no invincible backdash. He cannot afford to stay still for two seconds. He has no ridiculous moves in this game that require being held back by a charge.

You’re right though, this isn’t the Vega you know and probably not the Vega you wanted. Just like this isn’t the Birdie we knew, just like this isn’t the Ken or Nash we knew. That’s the point, this game is about change. If you don’t like it, that’s fine. Capcom is able to take this risk for one obvious reason. Because if it fails it doesn’t matter they just shuffle it under things that didn’t work and move on while we can always go back and play the older versions really easily. Hell it wouldn’t surprise me if Capcom did a ST or SFA2/3 rerelease around the time of SF5’s drop to take advantage of this. Either way they get consumers to buy their games, while at the same time being able to take a chance and expand what their characters are about. You can get on the train or you don’t, but either way they win.

But you do get the option of going on Capcom Unity and making an effort to bring him back to the way he “should” be. Just good luck getting past the 200 other people who will make the same point while sounding like a petulant child which will utterly ruin your case while just as many if not more people will make the case he should remain a motion character and state it more eloquently.

So is he finally going to be able to capitalize on conditioning and better footsies, or all he gets is “fancy” combo’s.
