Oh my, I didn’t expect this to happen, I expected him to be added later on. Apparently Vega is still popular enough to warrant day one inclusion. Very happy with this.
Backslash as a V-reversal (does it do an attack? presumably not), some kind of evasion/i-frame attack as a V skill and a decent antiair as a V trigger seem to be the case too.
Great reveal trailer, can’t wait to get my hands on him.
I think the attack comes out after the motion. Probably a tool to help Vega deal with pressure… which makes me think Ex ST will still not have invincibility
By virtue of archetype (fast, long range normals), Vega is one of those characters that are consistently strong in almost any SF-game he’s in (notable exceptions being SF4 and SF2:HF).
Man, I hate the character, but if his normals are on the level they tend to be, I might very well end up playing him. Gotta see how he plays first.
It looks so sick. I was hoping for a DP, but I’ll work with a command grab.
That rolling crystal flash looks elegant. I didn’t see an Izuna Drop following the Barcelona Attack, only the claw attack, so I’m hoping we can still hit Izuna Drop ob the BA follow-up. Glad to see that Sky High Claw is out of the equation; other than EX version that move was useless.
Edit: Looks like Izuna is now only accessible via that command grab. I’ll take that.
I gots mad love for Vega players, because they truly love their character, really happy for you all, I like the character as well, but in 4 I just couldn’t make him work with my skills.
V-Skill: Matador Turn
Vega swiftly dodges the opponent’s incoming attack and chooses whether to launch a quick counterattack that knocks them down or not.
imho izuna drop after flying barcelona attack is out
izuna drop is just his ground command grab now
and i would say that the claw attack after flying barcelona can be used in a 2 different ways: 1) knockdown on hit as always. 2) hitstun on hit and allowing for combos
All you vega players that were complaining he dropped his claw in the general thread, did you guys pick up that in SFV he loses it definetly and can’t pick it up on the same round?
Yeah that’s gonna be interesting. At least now though he can sheathe is and hopefully that’ll cause it not to fall off if hit, then later you can decide to pull it back out again. That would be amazing. Plus different moves for being clawless. Can really make matchups interesting.
Rushdown has always been his weakness. Some games that was his only weakness and almost impossible to exploit with out doing random shit. See Ricky Ortiz’s A-Vega. That one probably the only character people would randomly roll against to try to get in since his zoning was too good.
We won’t know that til we play him. He could just now have a motion to pick it up like Cody and his knife.
