Sigh… I felt bad for Zeus. He let so many things go unpunished. GamerBee was jump happy the entire match. Becoming almost predictable but Zeus never saw it. I was beginning for him to realize it and simply jump back air throw. I guess it was the pressure combined with the unfamiliarity of the match.
Nerf Vega!!! He obviously has all the tools to win!
Damn I feel bad for Zeus. He finally reached the top and then this That really sucks. I wonder if he’ll change his mind about the match being even? I wonder who he was playing to make him think that.
I think Zeus says every matchup is even to not psyche himself up before a game. More a mental focus thing than a logical one.
Maybe! I like that kind of attitude but I’m more a realist so that sadly doesn’t work for me.

But because he is not a shoto; he gets no love.
It’s plain as day that Zeus was not fighting at 100% by the end of this set. It’s hard to tell if my gut is right, but by halfway through the set I started to feel like Zeus was not attempting to change his game in order to adapt. Maybe he felt like any deviation from his game would put him in a worse situation, maybe he was deciding to do the same tactics because he thought gamerbee would expect him to switch it up at key moments. Maybe he DID switch it up and I’m not good enough to recognize it, haha. In my gut, I feel like the frustration might have become too much.
Maybe by that point, the pressure of the match, the frustration of missing opportunities, and the misfortune of getting caught by lots of Rising Jaguar FADC’s - may have all taken a large toll mentally. Gamerbee is on another level. I think the whole set, I managed to catch Gamerbee making one mistake where he obviously could have done something better, and that was in a round he won.
Gamerbee’s use of instant-overhead into air Jaguar Kicks I would vote as the #1 tactic that locked down Zeus. I like to use ST and Ultra 2 vs jaguar kicks when the spacing is right… but Gamerbee is so good at those insta-overhead INTO air jaguar kicks, Vega can never charge for those options. Zeus’ ability to block so many of them and also tech throws was beyond by ability to even understand how he does it, but we have to find an even better response. Is it a blockstring into the heavy hit and into the Jaguar Kick? If not, I wonder what position focus-backdashing would leave Vega in.
In any case, I’m not focused on Adon beating Vega here. I’m focused on Gamerbee beating Zeus. Vega/Adon is not a 0-10 matchup. When you’ve been knocked down, limited by yourself, and pushed to your end, there’s only one thing left to do. I look forward to to seeing how this match makes Zeus grow. Well, grow in skill I mean, he’s already pretty freaking tall! 6’6"
One thing that stuck out to me was Jag Kick, Jag Tooth alternating pressure. cHP will stuff Jag tooth clean and is easier to do full screen than air throw (which I don’t think is even possible full screen). He also took a lot of damage trying to escape rather than blocking, though I can see why he tried to escape. Crouching Fierce was the defining piece in this matchup I didn’t see being used anywhere near enough. I did notice him using it a LOT more today though.
But that match also brings up another point that a lot of Vega players I see fail to address. No one’s execution is 100% all the time. You need to be able to identify when your execution is failing and go for less execution heavy combos. Even if it means sacrificing damage. Take what you can get and don’t be so prideful of your execution saying you know you can land it.
What should also stand out is how execution heavy Vega is in a game that is extremely lax in the execution department. No short cuts, 1 frame links, no mistakes or you’re done…

I’m a fan of Zeus but I’m glad he lost badly. Let reality set in for a bit.
I just modded my stick so I can play with the PR Rog layout. Which is playing with the 6 buttons of the right, while the traditional LP is now Select. So I can plink crLPs REALLY easily.
I did it three days ago, so right now I am not fully used to it. Once in a while I try to tech a throw and end up pressing select… or when I try a kara grab I actually get a stMK. Years playing with the buttons in one place makes it hard to get used when they change like that.
But aside from those hiccups that are getting really rare right now (more 5~10 days of practice and I should be completely fine). All I gotta say is that my life has changed
It not only allows the b-link with crLP crLP for much more reliability hit confirms, but allows “double plink” with crLP crMP, Izuna Drop crMP (setting up safe jump) and punishes… my god. Punishing overheads with crLP crLP crMP FBA is really good. Confirming punishes like EX Hayate with crLP crMP is also really important.
So, yeah, I definetely recommend trying this set up. I’d say that its really important even if we had a +5 crLP. Because if you are bliking it, the room for error is really smaller. For example: Remember getting backthrown out of FA2 on block dash forward crLP? Yeah. With blink its easier to time the crLP in the first frame possible and then you are more likely to actually be able to hit them out of the grab’s startup.
i always thought of doing that, but never really tried cause i consider it like “cheating”. i need to get over that personal stigma though. as for double plinking, i;m already doing that with cr.lk! if i had this setup, i’ll be doing triple plinking, haha

Another reason why not allowing Vega to have 2f jab links is fucking retarded. So according to Combofiends, having non1f jab links is OP so… people with modded sticks like yourself are OP!!! Jeez.
Lets keep one thing clear…This is ALL Zeus’ fault. Combofiend only complained about jab +5 being OP after Zeus and his elitist mentality claimed it was TOO easy.
Naw, Zeus don’t have any say so in controlling combofiend mind, if it was Zeus way we would have a really good reliable st.HK AA, it’s what he wants the most and we don’t have it.
edit: nvm Combofiend just confirmed on the small funny interview with Mike Ross and Gootecks that Snake eyes told some of the things he want Gief got what he wanted after green hand knock down was taken away and Fillipino man supposedly got some favored stuff for what he wanted for Rose too when he talked to Combo.
I think Combo has some favoritism in his blood and I don’t like it.
But still it wasn’t Zeus fault tho.
