Vega Combos & Glitches

I’m not too sure about kara ex wall dives. You would need to check if you can go neutral on a charge and still get the charge move out. If you can, then what you have could work. No stick over here to test it, I’m afraid.

General question. Can you focus meaty attacks?

Yeah, but you won’t be able to hit them with it.
More than likely. you’ll have to backdash immediately to not eat a reversal, canceled special, or a second quick attack.

Good, just checking to see if reversal focus back dash could get you out of trouble sometimes.

Has anybody tried crouching strong -> jab SHC to your wall to escape corner traps? Noticed that the landing animation from SHC has less recovery than the animation for FBA, so thought it could be useful to escape corner traps every now and then. The crouching strong block stun should make it safer than a raw SHC, but you would have to bait your opponent into crouching first.

Actually I do it all the time, and my results are generally good. Though you really don’t have to cancel into it. If you can reach teh wall, you’re safe after that. Either you make it across, or they fly into your claw and get hit. :lovin:
I know Makoto does it too~

Ah, It’s good to be back on SRK~

I mentioned the block stun because the opponent could just block it if they can guess correctly and punish you on recovery. Just wondering if the block stun there would force them to remain crouching.

There’s nothing wrong with the higher version (Can’t remember which one that is right now >.>), actually. You’ll land a few frames later, but the opponent won’t be able to block you because you’re too high. That’s the one I usually use.

Can anyone help me confirm this?

Basically, we all know about the ultra cross-up vega has vs some characters upon wake up…
Now with that in mind, has anyone ever played vs dhalsim or cammy and noticed that sometimes, in a combo say far cr.mp xx ex.fba, that the ex.fba actually hits the back of them.
Now imagine using the ex.fba as a meaty, is it possible that it could also be a cross-up?

Yeah, that’s a known phenomenon. You mean something like this, right?

Pretty much…

But is it only on sagat though? And does it depend on the spacing or just the timing?

Yes on some characters including Dictator, when you finish a combo with ex FBA it will hit them from behind.

Has anybody tried using cl. forward instead of cr. forward for punishment combos in certain situations? I noticed that cl. forward tends to leave you closer to the opponent during a cancel than cr. forward, so you have greater success on landing cancels to round-house ST on crouching opponents and cancels to strong RCF become usable in most situations.

Besides the cancels, cl. forward is 2 frames faster than cr. forward and 1 frame faster than cl. strong. I’m pretty certain that is has the same rate of cancel success as cl.strong, too. I’ve tested it against Blanka’s stances (main test subject for most things) and it works. I’ll try it against some more general character models later. Need to get back to Bison link training.

any advice for vegas one frame links? I have the worst time comboing his cr. jabs and cr. med.

Found out vega can actually charge a FA lvl 2 on RCF counter hit. But this is freaking hard to hit confirm in matches… sighz. Any good tricks that we can get this to work in a real match? like fireball baiting for instance?

it’s only on the last hit of counter rcf that you can fa lvl2…
That being said, the only way to work is to correctly position urself and pray that it counter hits so that you dont waste 2 bars for nothing…

Just wondering, is it worth it to Kara throw with Vega?

lol.
Vega’s kara throw is second best in terms of range, only rivaled by Ken’s… Now, it’s debatable whose throwing game is better. Ken has more range, but Claw has much faster walking speed, which makes him at least a better walk up thrower.

So for gods sake, yes it is! The range is about the same as Akumas’ kara in 3s.

Ok. I guess I’ll have to get better at it then, cause currently I suck at Kara’s. D:

EDIT: I practiced a bunch and I can now do Kara’s consistently online and offline. ^^

Dude Kara-throws are so key. Against some opponents kara-throwing them a few times is the only way to make them antsy enough to start whiffing reversals.
