See, the thing is that if you press F+MP, you’re in danger of starting the claw roll move (if you were charging), in which case Dic will be able to throw you.
Instead of using F+mp, do B+mp.

I shall try that tonight good sir, thanks.
I just played some SFII Vega today… All I can say is holy crap.
SFII Vega > SF4 Vega by far. It’s the Vega I know and trained with, the fast and dangerous one. He’s good without being stupidly good like Sagat or Akuma. Decent claw roll, nice wall dive. Flip kicks are great, juggling is fun, and punishable if you spam it. I love this Vega.
Not the one that walldives like molasses with the controlability of a drunk driver. Okay, maybe I’m being too harsh, but SF4 Vega is terrible. Everything got nerfed… except for Sky High Claw (whose damage increased by a small amount). And who actually uses Sky High Claw? In SF4, I just cannot see what advantages Vega has over the other characters that would make someone pick him. It seems everyone got something beneficial while Vega didn’t get much.
Okay, except for his handsomeness and awesome win quotes.
Single backflip is to bait out reversal/wake-up SRKs. If they use piano method, they’re going to be pissed.
Everyone Ken player starts drooling when they see someone standing over them, for some reason.
Any version of the Izuna Drop WILL grab Blanka out of electricity, with the correct timing. Don’t Barcelona Attack against electricity Blanka.
I believe Super Izuna Drop has the same grabbing range as a regular one. It’s only in SF4 that the Super Izuna Drop range was increased (because the regular Izuna Drop range was bad).
The damage from Izuna Drop always beat damage from slide. Slide is if you want to be on the safe side.
Hey everybody. I need a lot of help against Bison. He just seems to destroy me for free. I have no answer to Psycho Crusher spam, or anything is general. If anybody could help me out that would be great.
All thanks in advance.
^^
Read post #532 for starters. From there, your answer to Psycho Crusher spammers is as old as Champion Edition, block and throw upon recovery. If you see him coming and you have it charged, being juggled by two Roundhouse Scarlet Terrors will discourage him really fast. DP-like moves always stop rushing moves cold.
You can even get crazy and dive off of his wall (or your wall if you’re cornered) and then fly back and tag him with the Barcelona Attack. I don’t think you can Izuna Drop him out of it, but Claw’s claw will certainly hit Dictator out of the Psycho Crusher.
The common benefit with all of these moves is that they all knock down. Since Dictator doesn’t have a reversal special move that can hurt you (Devil’s Reverse only gets him out of there), you’re free to commence with the wake-up games and take control of the match.
I’ve wall dive grabbed people out of the most random stuff. Blanka balls, torpedos, crushers, and even shoryukens. I can never do it consistently though, its always random.
I think the trick is to be behind them while they’re doing ‘x’ move. Again, I’m not totally sure cause usually its to my surprise.
Yeah, there’s a reason for that. Although you can grab from either side in most instances, since most moves have a much larger frontal attacking hitbox, you have a greater chance of the izuna drop winning out when you position behind them.
Good shit on post 532 nothingxs. Very good guideline to start from. However, you said not to wall dive agaisnt Blanka, but I have figured out a way to safely beat out his up ball with my wall dives. ONLY wall dive off your own wall, and as soon as you launch off the wall press the direction of your own wall with the joystick and press punch. If the blanka decides to counter with up ball or regular ball he will eat the claw for massive damage. It works for me when I play Blankas of all levels.
^^^ Dear god if that works I will mess my pants.
'er indoors is going to France with work thursday to tuesday - I’ll have plenty of time to practice!
I have never had any success trying that, I would love to see some match footage of someone doing that so I can get an idea as to how to space myself or time it.
As for Scarlet Terrors to beat PSs, at ranges where he’s likely to get away with it it’s extraordinarily difficult to Cartwheel him on reaction. It sucks cuz you can’t always get a walkup throw after either, that move is so weird to control.
I have caught people out of the most retarded sht with Vega, i caught a Gief out of his later stages of his lariat, Blanka out of his electricity and i am almost certain a few times Dictator out of his pycho crusher.
hello,
I would like to improve my claw, so i’ve posted some matches versus kuroppi’s honda, a gief and a blanka.
I will be happy if you could tell me if i use the right strategy against these characters, and then give me some advices to play better because i think i make a lot of mistakes.
This is the youtube channel:

Thanks.
Im getting better at Claw vs. Dictator, but I noticed claw doesn’t really have any jump straight up normals that beat stomps, which got a bit annoying.
TarMa971: I will look at some of the videos, and let you know what I think. Have you read through much of this thread? I think post 532 may be helpful for you.
I almost exclusively play claw, and I can tell you all three of these match ups favor the claw player (assuming equal skill). I guess I can also give you some general tips for the matchups below.
Blanka: When facing Blanka, I generally start out playing quite defensively. From the crouch block position you can respond to basiclly any attack the Blanka player can offer. If the Blanka player attacks with his roll attack, after the block, you can punish with c.MP. If they are at a medium distance and do the vertical roll, you can usually connect with flip kick, and if they jump in at you, you can punish with the same thing. After you’ve convinced the other player you’re going to turtle, you can usually begin mixing in j.Fierce, wall dives, and rolls.
Things to know when facing Blanka: Slide beats electricity from many distances. If timed properly you can also Izuna drop and super an electric Blanka. It is generally advised to to jump or walldive much in this matchup.
Honda: A good Honda player can be a lot of trouble, and can give claw a good match. Depending on the skill level of your opponent the strats can vary considerably. If you have good reflexes then you can really punish headbutt attempts with flipkicks. If you don’t already do this, then it will take some practice, to get the timing. In addition to this, you can also wall dive attack behind the Honda player (from their wall) and attack them while they are in air. Be careful to avoid the sumo smash (flying butt), and if you have to engage it, it is best to try and flip kick him while he’s in the air. Avoid getting trapped in the corners, and mix up you’re attacks a lot. Jumping forward or reverse fierce punch are good options, and can punish a variety of things–including 100 hands.
Gief: Gief matchups can often be a grind fest. The whole goal when facing a Gief player is to know that they desperately want to get in close to you, and you desperately need to keep them from doing so. Crouching medium punch is your friend here, and will be used A LOT. This fight for me is all about reaction. If your opponent uses clothesline, slide. If they jump in w/fierce kick, flipkick. If they jump in with other things you can usually use jumping medium or fierce punch to beat them. I tend to avoid the walls unless I have a knockdown. You can also use a meaty roll attack on a downed gief for chip damage. If they don’t clothesline you on wakeup, you can get a lot of chip damage this way. If they do clothesline on wakeup you can start to bait it by using short punch roll , and then sliding into their clothesline.
I don’t know if this is helpful, but if you’re confused just let me know what about, and I’ll try and be more clear.
Good Luck!
???
Where is Dictator when you’re trying to beat his stomps? If he’s in front of you, jumping :mp: reaches straight out and slightly above you while :mk: works like it did in Champion Edition. If you block a stomp…yeah…there’s not much you can do to the Skull Diver beyond the 3P and 3K Backflips because a good Dictator will get rid of your Scarlet Terror charge. Standing :hk: may work if he’s farther away and crouch :hp: may be your only hope if he’s close.
I dunno dude, I was positioned across the screen with the lead and I reacted to stomp with straight up j.mp and the stomp hit me, despite the fact that we were basically face to face in the air. It really annoyed me because I was going to play the last ten seconds or so in reactive mode to win the match and I got hit by that shit. Nothing else seems to really work either, I believe I tried j.forward and j.fierce. It’s not like you wanna block the stomp either, cuz he’s such a stupid shenanigan based character.
What happens if you Backflip? Can you do anything with the whiff? I’m sure if you’re cornered, it’s a little more difficult.
Just got back into STHD after I decided SF4 was simply not my game. So I’m gonna get into this game hardcore with Vega again.
Question: What should I do vs turtling Akumas? I really dont see much I can do outside of getting close and struggle to poke him or get a Roll in. Any advice?
