Updated! The zip now has every character except deejay and T. Hawk. If anybody finds good sources for them let me know and I’ll add them.
Just for the hell of it, I vectorized some of the available art from the HDR promos. Figured people might want it for stick art. You can make stuff like this:
You can grab all of them here, zipped in .svg and .eps formats. .svg should work in Illustrator and Inkscape:

Great job, crackbone ! Quality is nice !
I think it would be better to have the files uploaded to localarcade for a “wider audience”…
EDIT: In fact, i’m doing just that as I write this
EDIT2: The .eps are rejected by localarcade ! So if anyone has the right tools to convert to .ai and upload there, they’re welcome to it
Bump for updated with a shitload new characters and available in Illustrator .ai format now.
All uploads to localarcade.com have failed ! EPS (and sometimes PNG) are seen as “corrupted” by the web site, whereas they’re perfectly rendered in Inkscape or GhostView !
Do you have some more artwork to submit, are you using some automated tool to get such a good output (and which one) ? Frankly, I’m surprised this thread hasn’t got the sort of attention it deserves.
Nothing automated - it’s pretty easy but takes a bit of time.
First, the art files I’ve been grabbing are all those “source files” capcom’s been giving out - the ones with pink or transparent backgrounds. Screengrabs don’t work - they might, but the time to chop out the background and maintain the character outlines would just take too long.
Once I have the art, I drop it into Photoshop, and use magic wand set to 10 tolerance/anti-alias off to remove the pink backgrounds (or black, which is what Photoshop renders the transparancies as). I save it as a lossless format (.bmp).
Then I open the file in Inkscape and use the “trace bitmap” option, with the following settings:
Multiple scans: 16, color
uncheck "smooth"
keep “stack scans” checked
Under “Options” tab, change “smooth corners” down to .4
Then hit okay. Once it’s finished I delete the raster version, and save as .svg and .eps.
I know illustrator has a trace bitmap function, and it might work as well, I just found inkscape’s to be much easier to use.
I appreciate the enthusiasm, Speedster. I guess there’s just a good chunk of people who either don’t understand the usefullness of vector art, or just don’t like the HDR art.
Once I can source all the portrait art as well, I’ll probably add them to the pack. As it is I’m missing a few.
