Vanguard Princess: Happy 5th anniversary!/eigoManga SUCKS - Now on Steam

Meh, Nitro Royale confirmed for Arcades. That’s so wrong.

VP deserves that spot a lot more.

i really dont understand why the people assume that doujin is synonymus of the astheics, or the gameplay

doujin is = to indy, wich means self produced and it doesnt have anything to do on the way of how the game looks or how it plays, geez

Yeah, Chibi and Hayama said the two that I know if: Melty and Akatsuki.

Monster was loketested but we haven’t heard any information about it for a very long time, so we can only assume that it was never officially commercialized.

Well, doujin/doujinshi is literally synonymous with “independently made/funded”, so it’s basically exactly like saying it’s fan-made or self-made.

Most people would say getting an arcade release automatically must mean it’s commercialized simply because it isn’t plausible that a doujin circle could actually make an arcade board themselves with independent funding (how are they going to DIY for an arcade board?).

Maybe I’m weird, but when a game goes commercial and no longer indy I prefer to call it a “3BFG”, as in 3-button-fighting-game. As most doujins typically use 3 attack-strengths with other buttons for system-related mechanics (like shields/reflects, dashing, etc). I think it simplifies things. Melty is no longer a doujin like Vanguard Princess is, but they’re both still 3BFGs.

Precisely. This game does deserve a spot. I liked the game. This game has balancing patches and bug fixes. It seems like a solid 2-D fighter.

I like how the game is not heavily combo based like BB. This game gets more balanced with each patch.

Weren’t there plans to redo the graphics for that game, into more hires?

It was pretty crappy though…
And WHAT THE FUCK was up with the girl in white and her fucking creepy level… Knowing it was all based on some eroge made me pretty freaked out

To be fair though, 95% of doujin games use that same button scheme. 3 different attacks and one more button for a random thing. Also, with some exceptions (VP), you can usually just get by in them by air dashing and mashing 2a to hit confirm.

So basically, yeah you can’t say “plays like a doujin game” and be 100% accurate, because there’s some differences, but we all know what you mean.

pretty much like in TvC, lol

also lets call The Last Blade 2 a doijin game cuz it use a 3 buttons scheme and has 4th button for random things like deflecting

I consider anything with less than 6 buttons a donjon game. The thinking man needs MORE BUTTONs to plan EXTRA STRATEGIES!

Tekken is one HELL of an expensive doujin game then.

You guys are wrong. Doujin games are measured solely by how many pilebunkers are in them.

Sorry, separate buttons for punch and kick means you don’t qualify to ride the donjon train.

:nono::nono: you mean soul calibur, 3 buttons for attacks and 1 for random shit like guard
tekken has a 4 buttons scheme

I don’t really consider 3D fighters in the same genre is 2D fighters anyway. :V

VF has only 3 buttons…

You guys are kind of missing the point. GJ

Not all 3DFG’s are doujin, but most doujins are 3DFG’s. Having 3 attack buttons doesn’t make it a doujin it makes it a 3DFG. Not that I think 3D games are the same as 2D fighters anyway (they’re versus beat-em-ups to me).

I know this perfectly well, which is why I said typical doujin fighter. As in, lots of mobility, including aerial mobility, and highly flexible and long combos. I suppose some would call it “newschool” (as opposed to the “oldschool” style like SF) but I don’t like that moniker myself.

Yeah, we’re kinda joking too. :clown:

Nonetheless, Soul Calibur would have been a better example. It’s even got all the huge-breasted hentai women and waif-like lolis you could ever want!

Just wanted to point out, you can buy pre-configured motherboards kits that adhere to Jamma/JVS standards for this exact purpose, and run XPe.

Building the software is the hard part, the hardware is easy to DIY if you were so inclined.

Just one example out of dozens:

Would you call it… a…

DOUJIN ENGINE?

Hmm interesting. I wonder if doujin circles are expected to do this this much themselves for loketesting, and then advertise the results of the loke and hopefully get picked up by a company.

That could explain why Monster never went anywhere (heh).
