I don’t imagine anyone still plays STHD but me…? It’d be fun to play people in SF2, cos contrary to my M.O in Vampire Savior I don’t jump a lot in Street Fighter 2
Liar. You totally pick Blanka and spam Jump RH. You can’t fool me.
No way. A top level Blanka player spams J.Lk
Truth. To bad you dont have a PS3 and I dont have a 360.
See? You do too jump.
No one plays this game on GGPO anymore… ):
It is a sad thing, That people dont play this game anymore. But considering the game has never generated that much hype(last bit of hype I remember for this game is when it came out on ggpo and mag was playing against a number of japanese players and I was playing against shu and nekohashi). But that was back in the beginning of the game. With SF4 out and all these new fighters coming out. There is little to no reason to play VS unless you are a hardcore player or to play for shooting the breeze with other former players. I play the game when i go to japan but when i come back to the states I play other games
I do miss VS a lot. The game is in my opinion, one of the best efforts Capcom has put out in a long time. Even though I was no where near good, I loved playing the game day in and day out.
If you guys are going to Evo, I’ll try to bring my laptop and we’ll organize a VS tourney or casuals in the BYOC section. Sound good?
It is very sad that the game here is nearly non existant. … I wish that were different.
Though i agree with you that this is one of the best, if not the best, Game that capcom has ever released IMO
SF4 put VS in it’s grave unfortunately. I’ll still play it when I go to Japan this year.
I’ve been getting online more lately, but I don’t ever see anyone. In the past two weeks, I’ve played Kenuran for like thirty minutes and that was it.
I kind of wish we could get more people interested in the game, but it seems to be prohibitively difficult for people to play, execution-wise.
Naw Jamie, it’s just people don’t want to take time to actually learn a system that is unlike any other Capcom game. Marvel dudes will come in here and see the chain combos and be like “Aww yeah, I’m about to put up some big combos.” And get stuffed by people who actually know how to tech block and GC. Street Fighter players try to come in and say “Aww yeah, I can spam fireballs and uppercut when they jump in.” And they get stuffed by IAD characters all day long. So you really have to take a step back and realize that this game is in a class in its own. You can’t play it like any other game and get away with it.
Plus people try to come in and ask “So who’s like the shotos in this game?” Or “Who’s the Gief in this game?” I can say while certain ATTRIBUTES of this game are similar to some things characters do in SF, this game has much more than SF or Marvel. These characters are too unique to play as other characters styles. You can’t play Victor like Gief, you can’t use Rikuo like Guile and you can’t play Demitri like Ryu.
The only person I ever see in the GGPO room are Japanese with ping too high for me to play them and that one fellow from Gautemala. ):
I suppose you might know other players’ mindsets better than me, cos I don’t really talk to a lot of people when I’m in the VS room. Still, I play it like ST with pushblocks and safe (VERY safe) jump-ins, and I get a lot of mileage out of it.
IMO the game is ALOT like marvel. Marvel players would be the ones who could just jump in this game like it’s all good. Nfinity and Me did it. :nunchuck:
We should play VS and ST on GGPO sometime. When are you normally on?
I dunno, I’m kind of random about it…I probably won’t be on in the next little while if I know what’s good for me, cos midterms are next week. Maybe the week after, cos that’s my spring break.
Well, that’s just my vibe about it. Super Turbo is a lot about zoning and safe jump-ins and Marvel involves a lot of chain comboing, air dashing and pushblocking (although I should mention it’s INFINITELY times easier to PB in Marvel than it is to advance guard in VS). But VS has a lot of elements to it that other games wish they could pull off better.
I play VS like it’s VS. ST and Marvel are different games, so they deserve to be played differently. At least that’s my impression of it.
If you really wanted to get a VS resurgance, they should remake the series, as they did with STHD. If you could get a VSHD, then we’d be in business.
I suppose. I think there are plenty of games that do what VS does better, and you can take the fundamentals of those games and use them pretty well in VS. That’s not to say VS is bad, obviously I like it. Still, I don’t think it’s THAT unique.
the ironic thing is there seem to be more people that say ‘no one plays this game anymore’ than the actual # of players playing.
Well I understand. Waiting in dead rooms ftl
