well…there’s a lot to know when using a low tier but, i can start you off and then fill in a lot more later.
when guarding in air you can chicken with airdash. use this to escape corner and pressure situations.
learn how to use his airdash and get 2 hits off of it. for example. if you airdash too low, you will be able to only input 1 button. if you do it high OR go around, you can do something like mk hk or mk mp. when you go around i suggest MK then MP (hopefully you can see why by looking at the moves). and when you are above them but high and they are still in front, use MK then HK. if you are too low to the ground you can use LK to hover, then MK, MP, or HK. you can also do LP and HP which i don’t recommend. something to keep in mind when using this is that if you’re high, you can do THREE inputs using the light attacks. LK, LP, MP or LK, LP, MK/HK. maybe by now you have followed that the LK floats you more and the height at which you choose to attack during the airdash affects what you can and cannot do.
his ground dash is important to his mixup game. you can do the same thing as you can with the airdash in this mode. when they start to get scared, you can hold the dash until you’re half screen up and go around them, MK then HK, airdash, whatever. tons of mixups, you can either watch match videos or get creative, the mixups are endless.
one thing about mixing up with jedah is to know it’s counters, and what a good subsitute mixup to use that counters the counter, or stops the initial counter that is hitting you. it’s hard to explain, but it goes back to basic meaties beat mash/throw and jump beats throw etc. now i know that jump in some cases doesn’t beat throw due to high normals but i was just giving an example. adjust your mixups so that one out of 3 or 4 will work in a situation.
that’s all i have for now, matchups and dark force is a whole other story.
I was a bit quick about it, but add magman’s whatnot, and some youtube videos, and you should have a good idea.
also, I’m contemplating going through each page’ve this thread to consolidate information discussed about characters, would someone be so kind as to help me, by gathering post links together per a character?
k-possible, the basket makes for good pressure too. lots of priority/relative range
So what’re the best techniques for pushblocking? That’s one area I’m having a hell of a time with (especially shit like one hit pushblocks). Also, can you buffer the motion for a GC, block, then press the button to activate it?
i use stick. so for tech blocking i piano LK LP MP HP. it’s awkward pianoing that way, especially coming from 3s where i drum the other way. but it’ll come by with practice.
as for GC’s…they are very bufferable. You have 12 frames ( i think ) to input the down-forward + attack. anything else you can buffer for a pretty long time. you do this by using hcb to block, stopping at 1 or 4 to block low or high respectively (number pad on p1 side), then press 3+attack when you see the attack hit you. i think you can buffer for ALMOST a complete second, but just a little short. so don’t buffer it too far back.
i don’t know what skankin does, but i use a thumb slide from square to circle, hitting triangle on the way, then pressing a trigger (which is my HP/HK). that gives 4 inputs, with a 50% chance of tech blocking.
Edit: Wow, that really helped a lot. Before I was just pianoing LP to HP; adding in the extra press makes it so much better. Also got the HP MP LP LK one for a shorter pushblock. You are the man!
I 2nd that because I also have the radioshack one and I can never link basket online so I don’t try anymore… Thing is failure but it is the best I have had out of the 4 I have tried.
Saw Mar recommended pelican but don’t know how readily available or easy to find those are.
According to this link the “pelican converter” is discontinued.
I’m also using the radioshack converter and using my old ps2 pad.I didn’t notice any delay in my converter, then again this is coming from a guy that use to play MVC on kaillera, for 6 years off and on.
You can test your converter to see if you have any delay.Just look at the bottom of the first post where tl613 says “Test Your Adapter”!
I was thinking for using my PS3 pad, but I don’t want to wear out a $ 50 pad.
Also thought about this but I don’t want to use a $60 controller for this shit. Ps2 pads are like $20 lol… Plus I do have a fs3 but my tower won’t register it. It not like I have some insane problem with my pad, it just feels like some stuff doesn’t come out sometimes =(. Haha and DM, thats why I always see you in MvC room. I should have learned that game, too many veterans now xD
I’ve been thinking of getting a stick myself since my thumb(the bone) hurts when I practice to long (trying to master IAD with zable ).
Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t u use to play MVC?I don’t remember seeing you on God Weapon, but u use to go to some other server.Well, If your interested in MVC it’s not to late to start learning. But you’ll end up being pissed on how cheap everyone is now. Too many people abuse macro(wolvie with 3p is stupid).
I used to go in and out of Godweapon since it was the most popular server, but I was admin in the Daroms servers back when Kaillera was important, lol. I used to play a lot of kof, never played mvc, you might be thinking of PrincessLunaZelda.
hey good shit you’re exactly right. after that, take note that pursuits or hits taken during dark force drain your dark force bar. to add to that, everyone has poses after their dark force other than Q bee and Jedah, so that means when you get knocked down and pursuited = free combo after that. dark forces should be used very sparingly. it’s not even good to activate and take the risk just to chip them or hit them once or whatever. but that’s high level.
apparently, the lag created by them, is due to an insufficient amount of htz. being run through. i think usb ports run at 125 Hz as a standard. gotto bump it up to like 500.
tho, you(xanoz) are likely computer savy… i dunno if you’ve tried this for a solution before. this is for others to try as well.
