Vampire Savior: advanced link combos & important notes

Ehhhh? Rikuo is not hard on the execution side at all. Medium-fare is even generous. He has a few dash links that you have to get down, but that’s about it. Then it becomes standard things you’ve encountered in other SF games such as charging his specials while doing other moves, moving, etc.

He’s not an anomaly either. He’s definitely a rushdown character. Turtly Rikuo’s will get decimated by the top tier because he doesn’t have tools to stop their rushdowns effectively. Rikuo has no solid AA options. Gas and Echo are iffy to stop people like…Q-Bee, who can just float over them, or Gallon.

Lemme put it to you this way. Rikuo is most effective when he’s rushing your shit down. He has a low jab that has +8 frames on block, +9 on hit and can link into ITSELF. Bubble works sort of like Aegis in terms of pressure, but is less intensive and easier to pull of than a Tackle, Tackle, Headbutt from an Aegis. He has a great dash rushing game, good Air-to-Air normals (strong, fierce air chain is pretty godlike). An awesome sweep that’s fast as hell when he dashes. Plus he can dash under any jump-in or fireball. I’m not saying that Rikuo can’t play defense, but you’re not going to find much success with that. Watch Shou or Bow (two of Japan’s top Rikuo players) and see how they approach the game as the fishman.

Any new vids up yet? At all.

Pwz.

are there any tips you guys have for hitting bulleta’s dashing jab after standing jab? i can only hit it once every ~20 tries. is there a cue that I dont know about? should I be buffering the dash? is her jab dash cancellable? If I am ignorant for finding this link difficult please let me know lol.

this is the combo ive been practicing. part that I cant get is in bold… the rest is easy but man i find that link hard for some reason.

  • c.lk, +c.lp,** +s.lp, +dash lp,** +s.lp, c.mp xx qcb p: one of her easier dashing link combos.
the +s.lp after the +dash lp is optional, you can go from the dash lp to the c.mp xx qcb p
    to make it easier.

Wow, there is still someone following this game! O_O
I just found out about it and got curious.

It’s hard. You gotta be fast! If I were you I would save that one for later.
(I take it you’re a new player?)

not new but im taking the game a bit more seriously in my spare time.

Sometime in the evening, around 6ish

I was wondering if someone smarter than me could do some extensive testing on this:

Vampire Savior Data - Reversals

Particularly, this comment:

“When the command is input before the timing for the reversal starts, that input will be neglected.
(Therefore no piano reversals, you need to reversal with the first press of the button.)”

I don’t really have the knowhow to prove it one way or the other, so if anyone knows a good way to prove/disprove it (or especially if someone wants to do it themselves or just explain exactly how or why that’s the case), that would be much appreciated.

That was MightyMar just to give you a heads up. Good to see you again bud, You gotta start poppin on GGPO some more. You missed me dropping the 35 streak with Sas when we had VS in haha.

Skankin - I dont think thats completely accurate or at least not worded very clearly. You wouldnt be able to reversal command input supers by that definition, Which you can. Theres times when i’ve gotten reversal Tenraiha’s that I started inputting WAY before the “reversal window”

I’m not against the possibility that the translation is poorly worded, but it would be nice to get more concrete information as to what this means for reversal attacks in general. That information could be very valuable, and if reversals truly suck in this game, then it puts a very big emphasis on wake up -> block -> Guard Cancel as a primary defensive maneuver.

why is this game so fuckin bad on ggpo now
kof needs its own server all together
there is like 1k of those 3rd world f a g s playing on there at any given time
they need to donate for their own server

Could I please get a recap of when I said he wasn’t rushdown focused. I only mentioned that he has other aspects in addition. What is the psychological deficit within videogame nerds that compels them to discredit other peoples input? At least read the damn post and interpret it correctly.

skankin, I think there is usually some type of downloadable ppad available for emulators. You can do a frame by frame input and actually test any setup from there. I’ve programmed some bobo ppads, its pretty easy once you understand whats going on.

I could be wrong fyi. I’m just chuckn ideas out there.

Perhaps you shouldn’t get so defensive like I was attacking you personally.

I didn’t say you were wrong at all. You said he was an anomaly, which if I’m not mistaken, means he sticks out because (at least this what I gathered) he has tools that help with defensive play. Now, excuse me for being a video game nerd with a psychological defecit that compels me to discredit you, but several characters have tools along that line. Fireballs, Ice Towers, Curses…etc etc. In fact, I’d say the whole character of Demitri would be the anomaly within the game because he can be played completely defensively and use screen control probably better than a majority of the cast.

I don’t know what is up with other video game “nerds” that they have to act like a differing viewpoint that gets pointed out to them is a personal attack on your view. You can totally say what you want about any character in the game. However, I don’t have to agree with you and I certainly can discuss it.

I think it means the button press or in case of command input supers the last press. That would explain why I cannot reversal teleport when I double tap but I can reversal way better when I don’t.

Yeah and let’s toss out 3s aswell while we’re at it. There’s like 100 people playing that shitty game at any given time too.

… :looney:

I think Vampire works excellent on GGPO. I can play against people with 200 ms (tops), and I still think it’s playable. It’s not like ST for example, where anything > 150 ms is a no-no.

~What the hell is it with this forum and double posts… ?~

3S is pretty trash. Anything over 100 ms is terrible. The best running games on there (that I play) are A2, VS, and the versus games.

I’ve just tested using frame-by-frame controlled input in MAME in Vampire Savior, SFA2, SFA, and the original Darkstalkers, and reached the surprising conclusion that piano reversal inputs don’t work in any CPS2 game from Darkstalkers onward (I didn’t test any Marvel games, but I expect them to be similar, given that X-Men:COTA was released after Darkstalkers). In Darkstalkers and later games, when you press a button or buttons that complete a command input, it seems the engine always “consumes” the buffered joystick inputs whether you’re in a state eligible to perform that move or not (by constrast, in SF2 the engine only “consumes” the buffered inputs if you actually perform the move)

However, I also tested SF3 3s and piano reversals do work in that game. This is not surprising, since we already know the SF3 engine has many differences from the CPS2 games in how inputs are processed–charge partitioning, toward-away-down-up as a valid alternate 360 input, etc.

Oouchi just posted this in the chat, They’re from yesterday - probably some really worthwhile matches in it
