while these may be a problem with the integrity of the game, its actually a good training tool. I am not a VS player, I use the game to train. Since the game is running faster than normal, that means its harder to react which is practicing reaction time and since tech hits are much harder, it makes defense that much more present since you have to block more than normal.
While someone who really cares about VS will say these are bad things about the game, I will agree to that. IMO, it makes you a better player.
also, does this mean every game on ggpo suffers from these things? fast inputs get negated and the speed is off?
When I was walking around in the ball room at MWC, in the corner I saw some people playing Vampire. The chars were LeiLei and Anakaris. Well, by far you may know whom I’m talking about now, LOL.
It was a pleasure to meet Kajoq and MightyMar in person. Very cool and nice guys. Kajoq was pretty much what I imagined, and Mar appeared younger than I thought. Despite I hardly played any games recently, I should have asked to play you guys some casuals. Well, huh, I even didn’t have my own stick there ( I went there unprepared cuz my friend asked me whether I wanted to go and I thought, OK, I’ll go and watch some games). LOL. May catch you guys on GGPO. At MWC it just reminded me how fun ST and VS are.
PS: LMAO every time I heard “MightyMar vs blah blah on stream station”. That happened like three times or so. This dude got nervous. LOL
Question: Is that the case for all CPS2 games? How much faster ?( i know its hard to describe but its really that noticably different?)
I never noticed any major (or any) game speed differences when watching youtube vids or when I played a bit in Japan last year but maybe thats me.
One thing I definately noticed is input lag is (obviously) non-existant at all on Arcade comapred to ggpo. FBA/GGPO/shitty LCDs does have minor input lag resulting in tech hits/GCancels come out way easier and INSTANTLY compared to ggpo. Infact I was fucking up a lot of things I would usually not have a problem on ggpo, like Bish d,d+PP or Vic jump 360 wouldnt come out cuz I was doing it too early or some shit lol. Or maybe it was the shitty sticks they had in their AStro’s, it was weird compared to HRAP3 which im used to.
Emulators doesn’t have the same framerate as real cps2 games. There’s around 2 frames of difference between them. Won’t be a real problem if you only play randomly on CPS2 but if you’re used to CPS2, it will get problematic.
i have a question. i was pinned blocking against a Q. bee as bulleta on ggpo and saw him do his instant overhead and i moved the joystick from 3 to 6 and got hit standing instead of blocking it safely or getting hit crouching. this happened several times, i’m wondering if there is some kind of reason for this, like a problem with the rom version of the game or if that is normal when you don’t block fast enough, or dropped frames or something.
there were also times when i could swear q. bee’s instant overhead into short was unblockable, but that can be explained with netplay lag.
Wish I could join, but bad things happened to me recently. I also discovered that the PS3 TE stick does not work with my new laptop. Almost finished installing a new PCB for the stick so I should be back soon.
For those of you who follow Savior on youtube, the most recent POPY tournament was pretty awesome. Double Gallon teams, DD and Oouchi teaming up and even SFIV Balrog player Aojiru doing some work with Zabel.
Grand finals Vid:
Yeah those vids were good.
Aojiru Guile has always had a nice Zabel, I remember watching a match of him vs Chikyuu Sodom recorded in '98 at Shinjuku Sportsland where he bodied him.
I wanted Shou or Shu’s team to win this tournament, those bubbles/spirits are sexy :[
